Southern Counties Canine Association

Breed: Bichon Frise

I was honoured that my first Challenge Certificate giving appointment was at this great and well-run show. I was helped by my very organised and efficient stewards – Colin and Michele Stanley – on a cold, windy but dry day.

I have not judged for some years, so all dogs entered were new to me. All bites were good, but there were a couple of exhibits with jumbled bottom incisors. A few exhibits had eyes on the smaller side, and pad and halo pigment could be better on a few.

Grooming was of a high standard, with very little staining. I know what hard work you all put in so well done and thank you to everyone who entered.

Class 1065 – Special Beginners (2 Entries) Abs 0

1st - Crawford, Miss V J – 3069 Luka Songbird – Dog of just over 2 years of age. Lovely pigment, good head and expression. Coat a little “woolly”. Showed well. Best Special Beginner in Breed.

2nd – Dean Mrs M B – 3071 Delbrupar’s Estrella – Bitch of 1 year and 4 months. Super coat texture. Needs more muscle time and temperament was a little flat,

Class 1066 – Puppy Dog - (1 Entry) Abs 0

1st – Bromilow Miss J – 3065 Wolimorb Top Gun – Just 9 months old. True to type head and expression. Very strong pigment and halo’s all around his eyes. Beautifully made with a pronounced sternum. Correct angles fore and aft that gave him a correct head and tail carriage. Moved out with great drive and attitude for his age. Personally, on grass his leg coat could be shorter. I have no doubt he will go to the top, loved him. Best Puppy in Breed.

Class 1067 – Junior Dog - (1 Entry) Abs 0

1st – Smith & Coad, Mr R & Mr M – 3078 Pamplona Rumour Has It – Great Showman. Good pigment and strong halos with medium size eye. Very well made with super neck and tail set. Not settled on the move today. Best Junior in Breed.

Class 1068 – Post Graduate Dog - (2 Entries) Abs 0

1st – Stokes & Parkinson, Ms M & Mr D – 3081 Delbrupar’s Moretti – Dog of 1 year and 4 months. Loved his head and expression. Pigment very good. He is well made with correct angles, tailset and coat texture. Temperament was a little flat, but he pulled it out in the challenge. Reserve Dog CC.

2nd Dean, Mrs M B – 3070 Delbrupar The Category Is Avec Snowpups – Similar in type to 1st. Showed and moved well, but head and eye not as good as class winner.

Class 1069 – Limit Dog - (2 Entries) Abs 0

1st – Stafford, Miss G P – 3079 Louisianna Heartbreaker – Loved this boy. Oozes breed type. Hands on and everything fits. Correct coat texture. Stormed around the ring with great drive and showmanship. Dog CC and Best of Breed.

2nd Crawford, Miss V J – 3069 Luka Songbird

Class 1070 – Open Dog - (3 Entries) Abs 0

1st – Anderson, Mrs H M – 3063 CH Manoir’s Licensed To Thrill For Brokengate – This dog had breed type, pigment and super hind angles. Great coat texture and super tailset, however on the move for me he “poked”and didn’t have the reach to go with his drive. Considered him for RCC.

2nd Moss & Connolly, Mrs M & Miss A – 3075 Ashmair Live To Tell Mamose ShCEx (IKC) – Sweet temperament, excellent trim, coat a little harsh and not the breed type in head of class winner.

3rd- Carr, Mrs D – 3066 – CH Daveyluvs D’Artagnan JW

Class 1071 – Veteran Dog/Bitch - (No Entries)

Class 1072 – Puppy Bitch - (1 Entry) Abs 0

1st – Marshall, Mrs K – 3074 Blancazorte Never Say Never To Honeyvale – Sweet temperament, pigment fine, nicely constructed with enough angles. Coat needs to come on.

Class 1073 – Junior Bitch - (1 Entry) Abs 0

1st – Osborne, Mrs C S – 3077 Thusia-SA-Gal Hascikova For Magstarai (IMP SVK) – Bitch of 14 months. Good coat and eye size. Her construction is good but lacking in body and muscle tone, which showed in her movement.

Class 1074 – Post Graduate Bitch - (4 Entries) Abs 1

1st – Walton, Mr D & Mrs S – 3084 Vanilla Cup Cake Van De Dyksteinhoeve with Keunnevek (IMP BEL) – Put my hands on her and loved her. Beautiful shape and so balanced. Head and coat type excellent. When she got going her movement was so true and had great reach and drive. I forgave her tail twitch. Bitch CC.

2nd – Farringdon, Mrs A – 3072 Brokengate Ruby Tuesday – Super trim, good temperament but lacked drive on the move.

Class 1075 – Limit Bitch - (3 Entries) Abs 1

1st – Hill & Macleod, Miss A & Mrs L – 3073 Deizi Diamonds Are Forever – Really liked her. Compact but balanced, with correct angles. Super pigment and halos. Loved her breed type, but not the upper arm and neck of my CC winner. Well Deserved Reserve Bitch CC

2nd – Clarke, Miss G – 3068 Brokengate Melody – Lovely presentation. Larger type but well balanced. Not the pigment of class winner.

Class 1076 – Open Bitch - (3 Entries) Abs 0

1st – Carr, Mrs D – 3067 CH Daveyluvs Hot Tramp I Luv U So – Super bitch. Everything fitted and was well angled. Moved with drive and showed very well. Her size and eye let her down for me.

2nd – Stafford, Mrs L – 3080 Deizi No Smoke Without Fire At Louisianna – She looked half the size of class winner, but fabulous head and type. Oozing pigment. Lost balance because she looked stuffy, but wanted to take her home because she was just like my first bichon.

3rd – Bromilow, Miss J – 3064 CH Wolimorb Chasing Rainbows.
