NORTHERN BULLDOG CLUB (Incorporating BLACKPOOL & FYLDE BULLDOG CLUB) CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW - 28/12/2024Judge – Mr S Parker (Albionpride)

I would like to thank the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge this Championship Show. Little did I know that there would be an amalgamation of the Northern and the Blackpool & Fylde Bulldog Clubs for this show. My first club show as a B-list judge was the Blackpool and it seems I’ve gone a full circle with judging their and my first Championship Show.  I would like to thank the Clubs for the hospitality shown to myself and my family and for the lovely gift. I would also like to thank my ring stewards who kept the day moving smoothly. Before I start giving my assessments of the dogs I would like to thank Steve Bragger and Vicki Collins-Nattrass for their hard work as secretaries of these clubs and wish them the best for the future. I would also like to wish Kirsty Rudd all the best in taking this club forward. I would like to thank all of the exhibitors and their dogs for taking the time out of their Christmas and giving me an entry of 94 dogs, going over 70, on my first time giving CC’s. Overall I found the dogs to be very healthy and the breed seems to be improving in leaps and bounds with health. A few had had a bit too good a Christmas and could do with losing a few pounds and on a similar subject one or two lacked muscle tone. In regards overall construction I note we have lost the wide jaw and straight dentition between the canines.

Class 1 - Baby Puppy Dog (2, 0 absent)

1. Eaton – Ricatori Reimagined  - R&W. Just 4 months old and already showing real promise. Good flat wide skull with well placed dark eyes showing no haw. Well padded foreface. Large black nose with neat over nose roll. Really good mouth with good upturn and already has a sour expression. When viewed from the front you can see the upturned U that you should see on a bulldog. Well tacked on shoulder to straight forelegs and neat feet. Large forechest and a well let down brisket. He has a good neck, a nice topline and already a good cobby body leading to a well set tail. For one so young he took it all in his stride and moved excellently. BBPD and BBPIS

Well off for rib. Moved really well both coming and going.

Class 8 – Limit Dog (6, 1 absent)

1. Lowthian – Haddaway The Boss for Tyneamite  -  Brindle. 18 months old. Just getting in to his prime and I feel he has plenty to give. The apple did not fall far from the tree as he has so many similarities to his sire who was in open dog. This is a proper male with a masculine great headpiece. Lovely expression. Lovely length and width of foreface. Super dark clear eyes. Nice mouth. Very well placed black nose with open nostrils. Excellent strong neck. Very well ribbed. Excellent topline and pear shaped body. Excellent strong rear quarters, well muscled, and good angulation. Lovely tail and set. Moved well both coming and going keeping his topline. Moved effortlessly. Shown in top condition. I see a bright future for this lad. Very pleased to award him my first CC, his second, and BIS.

2. Watkins – Shipshape Shining Star  -  Brindle. Again a very nice dog who you cannot ignore having a closer look at. This dog has a lovely head. Very strong well boned front. Well tacked on shoulders. Enough neck. Lovely tuck up. Good strong rear quarters with good angulation. Moved soundly.

3. Bannister – Andlare Razzmatazz

Class 9 – Open Dog (7, 1 absent)

1. Handley – CH Haddaway Hey Bulldog  -  This dog needs no introduction as he is currently on 29 CC’s and is the current Reserve Bulldog of The Year. Although I have admired him from ringside I did wonder what all the hype was about. Well wonder no more. This dog is the full package. Very masculine male who screams quality. Good width and length of skull. Well padded cheeks. Good mouth with upsweep, turn of jaw and good dentition. Lovely rose ears, set correctly. Darker than dark round eyes. Good nose topped with a well positioned nose roll. Strong square front to very neat feet. Correct neck of good width and arch. Lovely ribbed up dog. Okay topline and well tucked up. This dog is free from exaggeration and well balanced. He was a little stiff on the move today and just lost out on top honours as I preferred movement and topline of his son. Nonetheless this dog deserves all his accolades, believe the hype. Very pleased to award him RDCC and RBIS.

1. Eaton – Ricatori Liberata  -  A really feminine bulldog of excellent size. Looked fabulous from all angles. Good round dark eyes. Large black nose superbly positioned with an excellent nose roll which finishes off a lovely face. Excellent jaw both in width and upsweep. Perfect dentition, best of the day. Beautiful compact body with all the curves in all the right places. Melted my heart on the move as she walks her width and goes away with a roll. Pushed really hard for top honours and I can see this one getting a CC before she is one year old.

3. Saafan – Geovannic Cupid Queen

Class 15 – Post Graduate Bitch (12, 1 absent) - Very nice class, some good bitches went unplaced.

1. Neiman – Kinlockbulls Paint It Gold  -  Quality bitch of lovely type. This bitch has very good head qualities but for me she excels in her body. She has a deep forechest and let down brisket. Nice square front to neat feet. Super neck, both of good length and width, with a lovely arch. She has a lovely topline and underline. Her rear is as strong as her front and she has good angulation and turn of stifle. She won this class as for me she was the best mover.

1. Speakman – Ryadjobe Stir It Up  -  R&W. Feminine bitch out of the top drawer. She has head qualities aplenty but in no way is she overdone. Head finely wrinkled. Superbly placed dark round eyes. Large black nose with well open nostrils. Good foreface and excellent layback. She has a great neck to a lovely curve into a strong back with a good rise behind the wither. Deep rib and well sprung. Good strong rear to well angulated stifle with correct hocks. Moved like she is made, superbly. Very pleased to award her my first, and her first, bitch CC and BOS.

2. Mayes – Ragmarte Daiquiri at Pectus  -  Another quality girl. Feminine but finer to first. Well cushioned foreface with good layback. Lovely rose ears, thin and correctly set and placed. Fine wrinkle to head. Good mouth and upturn of jaw. Great front, assembled very well. Good body with all the correct curves in the correct places. Looks good from front, side and rear.
