Midland Counties Canine Society

Thank you so much to the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge Catalan Sheepdogs at this show and their hospitality on the day. A small entry but some lovely dogs to go over, many of whom were related and so of a similar style. All had the required double dew claws Thank you to the exhibitors for their support.

PD (1) 1st Hollybeck Jack The Lad Starwell (Mrs J Lewis-Summerfield). 11-month-old fawn dog. He has a good outline, being slightly longer than high with chest of good depth and a reasonably short neck. He is well ang front & rear, with good feet and dark nails, ex bite and pig. Good head properties with high set ears, a round eye and excellent pigmentation. Very balanced on the move, keeping his topline. BPD

PGD (1)1st Hollybeck Purple Murri (Mrs T & Mr D Roberts) 5-year-old fawn dog. Very happy boy, his tail wagged non-stop. Nice head with a good round eye. Good short neck, with enough angulation front and rear. A touch longer in loin but has good rib. Moved well in profile but a touch close behind going away.

OD (2) 1st Int/bel/ir Ch Du Domaine Des Dhalbergs at Starwell (Imp Fra) Cw (Mr T J & Mrs A M Fieldsend). 5-year-old fawn dog. Very masculine with a lovely outline, but I wouldn’t want him any bigger. Super head of correct proportions with good furrow, super eye, good underjaw and excellent pigmentation. Short neck with well laid shoulder and good return of upper arm with rear angulation to match. Good length and width of back with short loin and level topline. Well set tail of good length. Good feet with dark nails. Moved very well, carrying his tail well. In super, rugged coat of harsh texture. Best Dog and Best of Breed.

2nd Hollybeck Ticket to Ride to Starwell del Riu Gost (Imp Esp) Bel Jun Ch (Mrs A & Mrs C Fieldsend & Kirkland) 2-year-old fawn male, another with a lot to like. Balanced in outline, with excellent angulation front and rear and good depth of chest. Lovely head with strong muzzle, well set ears and lively round eye. Preferred the topline of the winner, Reserve Best Dog

PB (3,1) 1st Hollybeck Ere I Am Starwell (Mrs A & Mrs C Fieldsend & Kirkland) Lots to like about this 11-month-old fawn girl, litter sister to the puppy dog. She has a good head with good furrow and pigmentation with a lovely eye and well-set ear. Overall presents a super outline with a short neck and super front and rear. Her back is level with short loin, good spring of rib and depth chest. Moved very well keeping her topline. Best Puppy and Reserve Best Bitch

2nd Aura De L'Alba De Sant Fost to Bouvibear NAF TAF (Mrs T L & Mr C M Pickering), very much a baby but lots of promise. At this stage in her development, a bit squarer in outline and doesn’t have the angulation of the winner. Lovely head properties with a balanced head and super pigmentation. Level back with short loin, good bone and lovely feet and well set tail.

OB (5,2) 1st Ir/bel/nl/int Ch Starwell Here We Go Again to Bouvibear Cpw22 Ir/nl/bel Jch (Mrs T L & Mr C M Pickering) 3-year-old fawn girl with a super outline, short neck and good proportions. She has a lovely head with good strong muzzle, good bite and pigmentation. Lovely round eye and well-set ears of good size. Short neck and well laid shoulder with good return of upper. Firm back with good depth of chest and short loin. Good rear angulation and short rear pasterns. I’d prefer a slightly longer tail, but it was set low. Lovely on the move and with good coat of harsh texture. Best Bitch.
