Windsor Dog Show Society

Breed: Beginners groups

WINDSOR CH SHOW

Beginners groups

A nice idea by the KC to encourage our newer exhibitors & thanks must go to those societies which schedule these groups in the main ring. Hope that a number of the dogs I went over, & even more of their enthusiastic exhibitors, will progress to the ‘main’ groups in due course.

WORKING: 1 Probyn & Robinson’s Oialt Climbing Back, impressive young Newfoundland female of great bone & substance, quality feminine head, tight eyes, super neck & shoulders, well presented, moved out with great style, sound coming & going, handler made the most of her chances; 2 Hodson’s Sundabish Mrs Potts, this classy Bullmastiff was close up, has a clean outline & combines substance & quality, head developing nicely, shapely body, true firm front; 3 Richings’ Barqueiro Amora, had judged this Portuguese Water Dog in a stakes class a little earlier, she pulled herself up here & looked more compact, attractive head with dark eyes, enough neck, true hindquarters; 4 Merritt’s Diceulon Top Hat And Tails at Merquin, smart Boxer who looked the part standing, super outline with arched neck, compact body & firm topline, typical masculine head, not quite so collected on the move as those above.

PASTORAL: 1 Hardy-Hodgson’s Starjanda Cosmic Dream, this delightfully feminine young Old English Sheepdog caught my eye straight away with her compact outline, harsh well presented coat & steady showmanship, quality head, correct topline & moves steadily with a typical amble, look forward to seeing her when fully mature; 2 Lea’s Calareto All My Loving, this beautifully balanced Border Collie was another with immediate appeal, lovely shape, no exaggeration, feminine head, good conformation, sensible amount of coat, moved round with a long style & characteristic head carriage. Hard decision here, both should make a mark; 3 Budd’s Tudorbrook Hocus Pocus, delightful Lancashire Heeler with typical outline & a touch of class, feminine head & true coming & going; 4 Hulse’s Babaneira Kensington at Fablecroft, handsome Pembroke, unquestionably male, a shade strong in head but has plenty of bone & substance & retains his smart outline on the move.

GUNDOG: 1 Billinghurst’s Wyrebeck Endless Wave, appealing young liver Flatcoat with a super outline, smooth line from ears to tail & retained this on the move, feminine all through, bone in proportion, true coming & going & her overall balance took her to the top spot here; 2 Randall’s Ziennes Cornflower with Fengrange, stylish mature Cocker, quality head without coarseness, good reach of neck into clean shoulders, plenty of substance, nicely presented; 3 Strover’s Seaspring Windcatcher at Chipewyan, well made English Springer with a well chiselled head, reachy neck & typical topline, perhaps could have a shade more length of leg but looked good on the move; 4 Donovan’s Whitgun Rhythm Of The Night, quality headed Bracco with OK bone & a free active mover, just needs a bit more time to develop in body.

HOUND: 1 Sandell & Lovell’s Packway Blue Moon, handsome Deerhound with a super outline, clean neck & shoulder, excellent topline & characteristic droop, true front, masculine head & really looked the part going round; 2 Partridge’s Pettigans Viva La Vida by Riveroyal, neat well made young L/h Dachshund, good forehand with correct upper arm & well placed shoulders, level topline, sound hindquarters, kept her shape going round; 3 Austin & Rogers’ Kinabula's Ekanite, lovely Cirneco, quite the showgirl, super shape & outline, the right amount of bone, firm front, true flowing movement; 4 Sawyer’s Greyhound Inchydoney Memories Une Virgin Mary avec Stonelow, completed an appealing quartet, very raw & needs plenty of practice but has the makings of a quality hound with super scope, reach & angulation.

TERRIER: 1 Thomas & Print’s Bilarny Hotcross Bun, handsome young Irish with super overall balance, good eye & ears, correct coat texture, correct length of leg, moved with true terrier style; 2 Bowman’s Sikaistaff All of Me at Kamiflo, feminine Stafford with a quality head, powerful jaw, well carried ears, shapely body, appealing overall balance, true coming & going; 3 Wren’s Jaeva Strut Your Stuff, smart well grown Norfolk, quality head, enough neck & bone, shapely body, well presented; 4 Cummins’ Kewhaigh Innocent Man, young blue & tan Border with a typical outline, shapely body, good coat & straight front.

TOY: 1 Wallace Horne’s Skylar's Chico, all male Italian Greyhound, bone in proportion to his size, handsome head, good topline & underline, moved true & a steady showman; 2 Johnson’s Moretonia Royal Wren, pretty feminine ETT of a lovely size, reachy neck, typical topline, correct shape ears, came into her own going round; 3 Slack’s Grande Misterio Incanto Heaven Eversbabes, well grown Russian Toy, handsome boy with well fringed ears, arched neck & stylish movement; 4 Grantham’s Deizi Yabba Dabba Doozie at Lake Giants, most attractive Bichon, beautifully presented, good pigment, correct head proportions, nicely balanced, would probably have been higher but something unsettled him on the final circuit, better luck next time.

UTILITY: A very even group. 1 Parvataneni’s Domensa Perfect Dream, quality well balanced Lhasa, liked her outline & unexaggerated jaunty movement, excellent head type, true sound front, correct topline; 2 Sneiders’ Mistines Butybes Banicota, classy Standard Xolo with a lovely clean outline, typical head with mobile ears, retained her shape on the move, in super condition; 3 French’s Bincombefarm Serpensortia, very nice pied French Bulldog, especially liked her outline with gentle roach & super proportions, good bone & front, feminine head; 4 Gardner’s Ethelsmead True Grit, mature Shih Tzu with plenty of substance, firm topline & soundly made.
