BATH CANINE SOCIETY

24 MAY 2024

I was pleased to be able to respond to the Bath committee’s request for an emergency judge of Rottweilers at Bath but very sad to hear that Caroline Friend-Rees had to withdraw in support of close family issues and I wish her and her family well going forward.

I would just like to make one comment regarding the entry on the day. In my opinion this is not a breed where complete novices should come to a show with an unsocialised exhibit and without any experience at all of handling dogs in the ring. This is unfair, particularly to the exhibit, and socialisation and ring-craft practise is most important prior to entering this level of show.

ROTTWEILER

MPD 1(0)

1. Monk/Jones’ Westfalen Olearia Team Spirit. Nice 6 month old puppy, lovely disposition, correct head, good reach of neck, level top-line, correct croup, balanced fore and aft, easy light footed gait, BP.

PD 2(1)

1. Anthony’s Teigan Kasper. A puppy in need of a lot of socialisation and practise, powerful throughout, good shoulder but loose on the move at this stage.

JD 5(0)

1. Goodban’s Seittor Magic Spell with Keljaygo. 14 month old male, pleasing head and expression, good dark eye, balanced and compact, well angulated front and rear with no exaggeration, strong top-line, easy ground covering gait.

2. Allen/Steel’s Upend Edward. A nice junior, a bit of a handful on the day, but well proportioned head, powerful neck and well set shoulders, good angulation and a rangy ground covering gait.

3. Powell’s Botlierskop Silver Sceptre for Riversrock.

YD 1(0)

1. Dunhill-Hall’s Ch. Teigan Jedi by Fantasa. Strong masculine head, 20 month old male, powerful throughout, excellent shoulder, good turn of stifle, strong top-line and a purposeful parallel gait on the move, DCC & BOB.

ND 1(0)

1. Griffiths’ Kensesqui Don’t Need Nobody. 13 month old male, immature and still ‘up behind’ at this stage and subsequently loose on the move, but when relaxed displayed potential with maturity.

PGD 2(0)

1. Eynott’s Jezeve Perfect Storm at Bohannons. Preferred the overall balance and movement of 1 on the day who moved with a parallel, long striding gait, good head, powerful shoulders, level top-line, well handled and presented.

2. Green/Lewis’ Graylea The Diplomat. Good head proportions, nice shoulder, good bone, balanced angulation but untidy in front on the out and back.

LD 2(0)

1. Cartwright’s Steigen Rupaul Charles. Typical head, well angulated fore and aft but unable to hold his top-line on the stand or on the move, that apart his movement was parallel and had plenty of reach and drive.

2. Sweet’s Saintlythans Sweet Brian at Bossrott Rottweilers. Masculine head, compact in type, powerful throughout but ‘toed in’ on the out and back.

OD 4(1)

1. Dunhill-Hall’s Ch. Fantasa Lucky Strike. 2½ year old male, correct head, powerful neck, good shoulder, strong top-line, well angulated fore and aft, impressive on the move, well handled and presented, RDCC.

2. Powell’s Varenka Silver Arrow for Riversrock JW. Impressive when moved in profile, balanced angulation, good croup, tail set and carriage, however not as tidy on the out and back.

3. Griffiths’ Kensesqui Don’t Need Nobody.

MPB 3(1)

1. Trueman/Brownridge’s Jaegerot Miss Fabulous. Just a touch more maturity made a difference on the day, good feminine head, nice reach of neck, good top-line and easy gait.

2. Sweet’s Zaja vom Cherniy Kumir at Bossrot (imp DEU) TAF. Very much a baby at 6 months old but good shoulder and excellent parallel ground covering gait.

1. Allen’s Jodipas Time Ex. 1st in PB.

2. Fussell’s Hayter Nation. 2nd in YB.

2. Monk/Jones’ Westfalen Love by Design with Olearia. Lovely bitch, dark eye, good reach of neck, a little extra length of loin but good angulation and easy gait.
