Windsor Championship Dog Show - Saturday 29th June 2024

Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Firstly, I would like to thank Windsor for inviting me to judge their Championship show, such a well-run show to be a part of. The biggest thank you to both of my stewards, Karen and Martin, who were first class all day and having them alongside me made the day even more special. It was such a hot day and I tried to keep all dogs in the shade while waiting and being assessed, but had them all out of the shade for final placings as I didn’t want some in shade and some not, to make it as fair as possible. The ring was a nice size but the ground wasn’t ideal in areas for dogs moving. Lastly, I would like to say thank you to all the exhibitors for entering and taking my opinion in a nice sporting way. Like I always say, remember today was only my opinion and tomorrow will be someone else’s and so on, so remember to keep your dogs in the best condition you can and go compete. Enjoy your dogs and your hobby as it could be your day next.

VD:

1st Ch Biggleswick Splash of Ginge

Red male of high quality that I have always admired from ringside. He has breed type in abundance and is of excellent quality. He has a cracking head of nice shape, dark eyes, strong clean muzzle with good underjaw. Good pigmentation. Good strong front assembly on this boy with no looseness and not short of bone. His body is compact with ample rib and nicely tucked up and showing a good bend of stifle and hocks that are well let down. Well-muscled rear hindquarters, shown in a nice coat and excellent condition. A worthy title holder and lovely dog to go over.

2nd Illori Akinlana JW ShCM VW

Black brindle boy that I have judged on a few occasions now. He has a clean headpiece with a distinct stop and enough under jaw, tidy well-placed ears. As I have written before this dog behind the collar is so well made with his lean outline and well-defined body. He shows no weakness on his front and rear assembly and still showcases strong, powerful hindquarters. Always on his toes showing his true Stafford spirit. Moved well and condition was immaculate as always from this kennel. Thank you for bringing him.

3rd Trufflestaff Papinashuash JW

Lovely black brindle dog of standard size. Nice head, very clean, not overdone. Clean good front with enough bone for size. Enough rib and top line good. Good backend and tail carriage. Very happy boy enjoying his day which showed as he moved around the ring. A bit heavier than first two today.

MPD:

1st Jackabyte Redemption

This puppy I was drawn to straight away with his naughty mischievous attitude, doing his best to hide his obvious qualities. Stunning strong head on him with dark eyes and a wicked glint in them. Clean, strong muzzle with good underjaw and good ear placement which he uses at all times to enhance that keen expression. He is bodying up just how you would want for his age with a good front, ample bone, enough rib and muscular back end with a nice tuck up. It was difficult to assess his movement so I gave him as many chances as he needed, as he is still a young pup and they are not meant to be robots. I got to see enough strides to see he is sound and can move well. I really liked this puppy and once he learns to walk the walk and mature, I’ve no doubt he will gain top honours. His wicked keen expression won him Best Puppy Dog today.

2nd Sharmara Lacrnum Inflamari

Smart red youngster this one. He has a cracking head with attractive expression. Strong underjaw and clean muzzle, distinct stop, dark eyes that follow you all the time and well placed ears which enhance that expression of his, which I preferred over third place. His body developing as one would want, it’s of nice size and shape, with a nice front and plenty of bone. Moved as expected for age but held a nice top line. Smart puppy, I look forward to seeing him mature and grow.

3rd Hamason Sweet Little Mystry

Brindle/white pied dog that is of good size. His head is of good proportions, dark round eyes, and neat ears, which he used. Behind the collar he is well put together and showcases a good front that’s well boned. Well balanced body and developing good rib for age. Good tail carriage, moved well especially in the later class whist holding a level top line.

PD:

1st Hasburystaff Top Gun

Black brindle with white dog, of immense quality. He has a strong attractive headpiece of correct proportions. Distinct stop, dark eyes and neat ears, clean foreface with strong underjaw. He is already well off for bone for his age, his front is square and of good depth and he is up on his pasterns. He shows a good amount of rib already and tight coat. He is short coupled with a good bend of stifle and hocks well let down. Moved well from behind and always held his top line. He was in lovely condition and worked in sync with his handler, finishing off a smart package together. I have no doubt he will gain Champion status sooner rather than later. Best of luck!

JD:

1st Pome’s World United Colors

Smart red dog with white chest that oozes breed type. He has a typical head shape which is strong but nice for his age. He has correct eye placement and eyes are also nice and dark. Distinct stop and dark muzzle with plenty of under jaw. Correct ear carriage when used finish off a nice expression. Good pigmentation on him. His body is short and compact with the right amount of weight to give off a nice balanced look. Strong short neck, shoulders correct, his front true with the desired width and depth and substance of bone. Feet tight with dark short nails and well-padded with strong pasterns. He shows ample rib for his age and topline is level. Short coupled, he has enough angulation on the rear and hindquarters are developing well for age. His condition was excellent with a short coat and nice amount of muscle tone. He was moved and handled very well. I considered him for RCC, should do well as he matures.

2nd Jayneze Doctor Jimmy at Modlife

Up to size black brindle dog that is sound as a pound and is full of virtues. I prefer the head and expression of 1st, but he does have a nice broad head showing good strength, dark eyes, nice width and length of muzzle that is clean with ample under jaw. He’s showing a front with no weakness that is straight with depth of brisket and enough width, well boned with good feet and up on his pasterns. Body of good length and good lift with a nice topline, he has ample rib at this stage for size and age. Good strong rear backend which was well angulated and holding correct tail set. This dog is an excellent mover and moves with the drive and power you need from a Stafford. His muscle tone was a credit to his owner. A dog you need to go over to appreciate fully; he should do a lot of winning.

3rd Ellchansha Charm The Devil at Moorstar

Standard sized black brindle dog that is just into Junior. A smart boy. Smaller package than first two but nice balance with a handsome head piece that’s not overdone, with dark round eyes, ample stop, good underjaw and well-set ears. His body is developing well and shows a good square front with enough bone and padded feet. His rib needs to come still but will in time, short coupled and good rear angulation. In lovely condition and moved and handled well. Just doesn’t have the maturity in body of the first two today but his time will come as he grows and he will no doubt gain top honours in the future. Good luck with him.

Bang on the money this black brindle dog was the one for me today. He is beautifully balanced with plenty of strength that’s not exaggerated and that bit ofstyle and class to go with it. His head is strong but not overdone, with correct width and depth to his skull proportions. Stop distinct and eyes round and dark, his muzzle is strong and clean, with well pronounced cheek muscles and strong underjaw. Good, neat ear set which when used enhances his pleasing, eye-catching expression. Seeing his fitness and his muscles popping out, you can tell the hard work has been put into him to take him to the next level.
