SOUTH WALES CHAMP SHOW 11.11.2024

My thanks go to a very welcoming and innovative Show Committee, my Stewards and all the entrants. What a lovely size ring and area we were given. It was amazing not to need to use all of the ring as it was so spacious. For those feeling they might have been asked to run more, in a ring where you can get flowing easily, less is sometimes more than enough

GRADUATE DOG (2) 1st Seaman Arctictrek Hickory Dickory won out on maturity, strong front, clean neat mover, attractive masculine head, tight coat, good bite, clean tail carriage, lots to like 2nd Wakker Komaksiut’s Devon Av Ratatuyak at Ceannabeinne (Imp NLD) very raw young male still. Pretty head, needs to strengthen in front, still has very loose pasterns. Very proud of his tail on day which tend to spoil his overall outline, good coat, currently maintains better side gait than movement coming and going, but this may well improve as he strengthens and tightens

POST GRADUATE DOG (3) 1st Shelford Polarquest Queens Company Top of measure but proportionate all round, just needs to body up and mature on and he should be quite exciting. Much to like, good smooth light footed mover, happy boy, out in his undies today, would like his chest to drop more as he matures 2nd Robinson Keriquel Restless Sinner lovely head with classic ears, eyes, nose and good expression. Not enough range in outline for me, so whilst a neat mover, just doesn’t cover enough ground 3rd Robertson Inneska Calcite Blue for Chatanika smart young chap, never looks fully relaxed, which affects both his stance and movement classic head, good coat, just a touch small all-round

LIMIT DOG (4) Nice Class 1st Wakker Shaytaan’s Winter Soldier at Ceannabeinne (Imp Can) RCC Having a good stud day, with two Sons in the challenge lineup with him. Presents such an attractive shape, well balanced, no exaggeration, good thick coat, calm in his surroundings, never put a foot wrong, drops his head so nicely on move and powers through, challenged his son so well every time I ran them off, not sure I’ve ever had such a hair splitting decision with both dogs and handlers giving their all. 2nd McInnes Inneska Malachite Classic head on a smaller frame, handled to get every ounce out of him, good package all round with neat flowing movement 3rd Cooper Forstals Frankie for Janskcoo Beautiful head, strong smart body, absolutely rock hard muscle, so nice to run your hands over. He is just so pleased with that tail and his testosterone all lands there. Had his soppy head on and wouldn’t focus, which sadly cost him

OPEN DOG (7) I’ve long wanted to see 1st and 2nd come up against each other in a space large enough to move them out well and today they didn’t disappoint 1st Tapper & Leyland Icynights Feeling Good at Kedalita CC Male in his absolute prime, presenting such a strong figure, moving absolutely superbly and handled with grace and aplomb. Attractive head, with good ears, eyes, correct muzzle, strong neck and front, balanced body, excellent correct bone, strong feet, touch upright in pastern, really pleased to award him his crown, in the challenge he just has a finish and maturity (belying his age) which his Father doesn’t quite have yet, but surely will 2nd Cooper CH Trailhunters Polar Breeze for Janskcoo super Champion, so much to love about him, pretty head, great expression, happy temperament, balanced overall with a slightly shorter back than 1st. So well-muscled, he just screams athlete at you pushed hard 3rd March Trailhunters Tsutey another one out in his undies, he responded so well to his handler and gave a very convincing performance, moving and standing well to show off a smart body, masculine head and good correct movement, well muscled

GOOD CITIZEN DOG (1) 1st Toomer Shaalis Spirit Young male with still so much maturing to do, pretty head on still too feminine a body, light footed and easy mover but lacks the ground coverage I would be expecting

VETERAN B (4) Sharp class of lovely ladies, special mention to 4th, out as a 14 year old and loving her day and well belying her great age 1st Sargent CH Keriquel Aqualight always love this now mature lady and she gives her all. Great shape and size, sound at every glance, full coat and good muscle, pretty head with lovely expression, well handled, just not onfire as some in the challenge, will always be a favourite 2nd McInnes CH Hushwing Happy Feet at Inneska JW Unlucky to meet 1st as gave a great performance, coming alive on the move and using the space brilliantly, strong head, balanced body, good angles, moves true, 3rd Wakker Shaytaans China White at Ceannabeinne (Imp Can) always a favourite, just unlucky to meet ladies on such form, hair splitting between them, good condition and overall fitness, moved well

MINOR PUPPY B (1) 1st Toomer Shaali Fireball what an absolute poppet. 7 months, pretty head, lovely coat and colour, correct size for age and well-constructed, moved very well for a baby, with clean out and back and good side gait, she must have an exciting future

PUPPY B (3) 1st Toomer Shaali Fireball BPIB 2nd Platt Trailhunters Vixen Tor in Wightflight two sisters who are very typey to each other, this young lady holds a stronger overall shape and is in excellent condition, fine in makeup, and very rangy currently, ok through front, pretty head, handful on both the stand and move, very raw, I feel a very slow mature 3rd Miles Trailshunters Ryders Rock at Pekakicali much the same as 2nd, she has a better tail and is probably prettier through the head, however on the day lacked the same overall strength of body and muscling. Sure they will constantly change places

GRADUATE B (5,1A) 1st Platt Keriquel Heart and Soul of Wightflight tall young lady, still not in the coat condition needed for top honours, such a pretty head, with a very inquisitive expression, beautiful eye. Good angles set on balanced body, moves soundly from all views, went well in the Challenge even with a handler change 2nd Hannom Charoite Sundance energetic young miss, I find her a touch long in body and nearer to 50/50 in height, however this leads to a phenomenal ground covering gait. She came to move and she stormed every opportunity. Good muscular condition, neat rotatable ears on striking head, sound, well handled 3rd Spruce Mysticwolf Mo Cuishle sweet young lady, pretty head, good coat, true mover, extremely light footed, she almost floats, just not enough reach and drive to cover enough ground for me

POST GRADUATE B (5) 1st Tapper & Leyland Ceannabeinne Chenariva to Kedalita best mover of the class with great side gait, she so eats up the ground, lovely shape, great coat and condition, correct bone, good pasterns, tight feet, handled as ever with grace and aplomb. Didn't quite bring her A game to the challenge in hot competition 2nd Caudy Arctictreks Goldilocks at Snodragon JW well muscled, neat shape, balanced outline, striking colour, precise mover, tight plush coat, handled well, lots to like 3rd Miles Korsvig A Patchy Girl for Kekakicali beautiful pie, older lady, she doesn't show herself off naturally and would benefit from more confident and possibly slightly more flamboyant handling as she is well made and typey. Nails need cutting to improve foot fitness

LIMIT B (11,1A) Very nice class 1st Wakker Shaytaans Ooermissus at Ceannabeinne (Imp Can) 7 year old, lovely and mature, such a pretty white. Great on move, good coat, strong condition, just presents herself a touch upright at times when looking for top honours. Pipped her daughter for class and good to see her completing a good family day for her litter 2nd Shellford Ceanabeinne Fortysmiles at Polarquest much the same as her mother, touch over excited and difficult to control, can look upright in pastern, good head, easy mover, good condition, just lost out on finish 3rd Platt Wightflight Insh another long low girl who eats up the ground, beautiful hard condition, well made, would just like more coat and finish to her

OPEN B (7,1A) Platt Wightflight Einich CC BOB beautiful plush black and white who is a lesson in least amount of effort to cover most amount of ground, tight dense coat, with such a healthy shine, good angulation, lovely head and expression, well handled to always present her attributes. Owned the ring from start to finish. 2nd Munday & Cunningham Icebex Morning Steeler RCC surprise of the day, I have never really studied her on the move before and today she blew me away, tall rangy girl, well angulated, in lean hard condition, in truth would wish for a touch more weight and a thicker coat, and there is still time for this. Her movement is text book, light footed, effortless with her head dropping to give that determined movement as she eats up the ring, think she was probably 'dog I'd most like to run in a team, on the day' Please keep campaigning her 3rd Robinson Elleonia One More Light one of my favourite since puppyhood, she has matured into a cracking adult, plush coat, excellent condition, lovely head, striking colour, handled well, she was just unlucky to meet two such 'on fire females'

GOOD CITIZEN B (2) 1st Toomer Shaali Fireball 2nd Caudy Arctictreks Goldilocks at Snodragon JW
