Breed: Maltese

It was a pleasure to judge the Maltese at the Bridging Boston Championship Dog Show and to award my first set of CCs. The quality of the entries was outstanding, and it was encouraging to see such excellent breed type, presentation, and movement across the board. I was particularly impressed by the overall coat condition and handling, which speaks volumes about the dedication of the exhibitors.

MPD (2,1) 1 Eades Sedae My Design A lovely young male who showed great promise. His coat is developing well, and he moved with confidence for such a young dog. His expression is soft, with dark, well-set eyes and super pigmentation. Whilst enthusiastic at times he demonstrated sound movement for his age and will be exciting to watch as he matures.

Puppy Dog (1,1)

Junior Dog (1,0) 1 Jacksons Benatone Glint of Gold This young dog displayed a lovely head and expression, oozing breed type coupled with excellent proportions. He had a lovely reach of neck, leading into well sloped shoulders. His movement was fluid, with good reach and drive, and he maintained a firm topline throughout. His coat was presented immaculately, adding to his overall elegance. RDCC

Post Graduate Dog (2,1) 1 Kisby Genmerian Ellsworth This 2-year-old male was presented to perfection. He oozes old English breed type with good cobby body and excellent muscle condition. He has a balanced head with dark eyes and excellent pigment. His coat quality was one of the best of the day, with length and condition throughout. Good reach of neck and level topline with tail held well over the back. His movement was sound, though he tested is handler on the day.

Open Dog (3,1) 1 Jackson & Wylie Ch Benatone Jubilee Party A wonderful example of the breed whom I have admired from the ringside, this dog stood out for his elegance and poise. He showed with great confidence, moving effortlessly around the ring. His coat was in pristine condition, and he exhibited excellent breed type. He has a sweet yet masculine head with the darkest of pigment. He had a wonderful depth of chest and a super front, with a excellent spring of ribs leading into well-muscled legs with a super turn of stifle which allowed him to move with purpose and drive. DCC. 2 Urquarts Blackpark Polar Bear A well-presented dog with good overall balance. He moved well, covering the ground with deportment. I have judged this dog previously and he has improved with age. Today he just lacked the refinement in coat condition compared to the class winner.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1,1)

Puppy Bitch (1,0) 1 Jacunskiene Tauro Kennel JP Agapi by Deluxedream (IMP LTU) This 9-month-old puppy was so very feminine in expression and although a little shy on the day was well composed for such a young dog. Lovely straight front, good topline with tail carried well over the back she moved around the ring with deportment. All things being well she should have a promising future

Junior Bitch (5,2) 1 Haydens Zumarnik Catch A Romance Into Mysherie This lovely 12-moth-old young bitch caught my eye with her refined head and beautiful movement. I could not take my eyes off her as she moved around the ring and later in the challenge. Moving with the confidence of a much older dog, she moved with purpose and drive. Immaculately presented, she held her topline well throughout, and her coat was in excellent condition. She moved with grace and ease, making her a clear winner in this class. I look forward to following her bright future. RBCC 2 Jonusaite Favorite-Alatoo Remember Me for Emperatrice 15-month-old super feminine bitch who showed good structure and balance. A little smaller than 1, she moved out well covering the ground, demonstrating her correct proportions and elegance. Sweetest of heads, good pigment and surprisingly cobby there was so much to like. Overall, she was slightly less mature than the class winner. 3 Jacunskiene Tauro Kennel Jp Ola by Deluxedream (IMP LTU)

Yearling Bitch (1,1)

Post Graduate Bitch (1,0) 1 Blythins Julesville Endora A lovely 4-year-old bitch, who was so happy today. She greeted me with exuberance and loving so typical of this breed. She has a lovely white silky coat, with good pigment drawing you into her lovely dark eyes. Good cobby body, with good depth of chest. Well-conditioned and very happy on the move.

Limit Bitch (2,1) 1 Jonusaite Emperatrice Belladona Star This bitch showed great promise with a lovely head and soft expression. Presented to perfection, she filled up the eye. Good length of neck, excellent pigment and dark eyes, she moved steadily and used the ring size to her advantage. She has a lovely reach of neck giving a wonderful outline on the move.

Open Bitch (4, 2) 1 Jacksons Benatone Jubilee Star This 2-year-old bitch is a true standout in the breed, showing impeccable movement and overall breed type. Looking the part as she entered the ring, I was delighted to get my hands on her and find that under the coat is a truly cobby body, with excellent depth of chest, the straightest of fronts, spirit level tipline and well-muscled rear which she demonstrated on the move. Her coat was in top condition, and she moved effortlessly, maintaining a beautiful topline. BCC, BOB. Was delighted to see her shortlisted in the Toy Group. 2 Welbourns Ch Delcost Centrefold Another top-quality bitch with many fine attributes. Presented immaculately she moved around the ring with super reach and drive. I was delighted to go over her and find, although smaller than the class winner, she is a superb example of the breed. The prettiest of heads, lovely reach of neck, level topline and lovely tail set. I preferred the size of 1.
