Belfast Dog Show Society

Breed: Australian Shepherd
I want to extend my gratitude to the Belfast committee for my first CC appointment in Australian Shepherds, and a special thanks to the steward who stepped in to help us start the ring. I had a wonderful day and appreciate the exhibitors for their entries. Although the numbers were small, I was impressed with the overall quality and consistency of a well balanced, medium sized dog that’s slightly longer than tall. Forechest and substance is a strength in the breed.

1st 1816 - Winstead Follow My Heart (Miss T & Miss N Douglas & Moisi)

Black Tri 9 month old. Wedge head and muzzle with rounded skull. Almond-shaped eye and triangular ears. Clean, short neck leading to a level topline that he kept throughout on the stand and move. Well made fore & aft with good depth to chest and spring of rib already. Standing on oval feet he moved true fore & aft with correct footfall.

2nd 1821 - Talard It Wasn't Me (Mrs J E Heggie)

Black Tri of 7 months and currently at a leggy stage making him taller and gave him the tendency to over-reach in profile movement. Strong, broad head and square appearance in muzzle. He held and level topline and moved well fore & aft.

1st 1828 - Willvady Elvis (Miss C & Miss S Reed)

12 month blue merle. Impressive upstanding junior dog who is still very raw but has all the foundations to grow into. Balanced angulation in fore and hindquarters with good width of thigh. Short pasterns and standing on compact, oval feet. He has a free and easy profile gait and clear rear movement, just yet to tighten in front.

1st 1808 - Shulune Secret Wizard (Mrs I Bottomley)

This black tri doesn’t make it easy for his handler and is an enthusiastic dog. Strong skull, but I’d like a little more refinement. Correct wedge muzzle with good head and ears. Longer cast through the body but has good depth and width, he moved well in profile movement without exaggeration.

1st 1825 - Northbay Xsells Can't B'leaf My I's TAF (Miss E & Ms S & Mrs L Mackenzie & Mc Taggart & Pugh)

Blue merle dog who is a true showman. Free and easy movement with a moderate length of stride. Fore and aft he moves straight and true. Lovely head and skull and good bone. Balanced angulation and level topline with good depth of chest and well strong ribs, carried well back.

2nd 1823 - Winstead Brave New World Ir Jun Ch (Mrs J E Heggie)

Black tri who reminded me of some of the early day aussies. Lovely head with correct proportions of muzzle a little shorter than length of skull. Good feet and well angulated fore and aft and moved well. Just a shame to meet 1 today.

3rd 1818 - Shulune Dirty Little Secret (Miss J M Fort)

1st 1832 - Caronlea Celtic Fire Starter for Takhisis JW OSW (ai) (IKC) (Mrs S L Wray-Ramsden)

This red tri caught my eye as he walked in the ring. A beautiful dog to go over with everything as it should be. Head broad with wedge to muzzle and correct eye and ear placement. Slightly longer than tall, he has a good depth of chest and well ribbed back leading to a strong and broad loin. On the move he is effortless, yet powerful, with no exaggeration. His overall showmanship, presentation and quality earned him the DCC and BOB today.

2nd 1815 - Ir Ch Allmark Boom Boom Eujw22 Cw23 (Miss T & Mr M & Mrs A E & Mr N B Douglas & Leonard & Allan & Allan)

This black tri also caught my eye in the ring and I was spoilt for choice. Close between 1 & 2, this lad has a lovely body shape and proportions of slightly longer than tall. Strong, level topline with correct tail set on a moderate sloping croup, he was another dog who was splendid to go over and moved well in profile with effortless drive. A close choice and pleased to award him the RCC, I just preferred the head on my winner.

3rd 1822 - Talard Welcome to The Jungle (Mrs J E Heggie)

4th 1830 - Franmar Devils Desire at Joemarlea (Ms L F White)

This 11 year old black tri defies his age in his free and effortless movement, and also his naughty and cheeky behaviour! He is in great condition and well-muscled with a strong and broad loin. Standing on tight feet and well made with correct angulation fore & aft. Best Veteran and later went Veteran Group 1.

This was a lovely class of puppies with a great future for themselves and the breed.

1st 1811 - Rosschell Maid Out of The Blu (Miss M & Mr J Davis & Walsh)

This 6 month old blue merle is something special with all the right foundations you would want at this age. Good bone and body with a strong topline and well ribbed back and a strong loin. Ears set high and used well. Expressive, almond eye set on a lovely head. Once settled she moved smooth and true from all angles. As the day went on, she became more settled and her quality could not be denied in the challenge. RCC, BPIB, later taking Puppy Group 4

2nd 1809 - Devilsbloom Lifes A Party RAF (Mr Gary Chou)

This 7 month blue merle is another I was taken with. She is still immature as you would expect at this age, but great foundations. Compact body with promising ribs and chest and a short, strong loin. With good angulations fore & aft she is beautifully balanced. She has the most divine head but on the day didn’t settle in her movement as much as the winner. A bright future for this one too.

3rd 1817 - Birkcross New Beginnings with Shulune NAF TAF (Miss J M Fort)

4th 1824 - Jopium Dark and Demure (Miss J Hodges)

2nd 1829 - Birkcross She's Embracing (Miss J Smart)

11 Month black tri bitch with a sweet head and expressive almond eye. Topline needs to strengthen but should with age. Good width of thigh.

Black tri bitch who is well made with well laid back shoulder and return of upper arm. Her angulation in the rear balances with her front. Chest of good depth and well sprung ribs, carried well back. Lovely head and almond-shaped eye with correct ear set on high and when alert, brought forward. Moved steady and effortlessly around the ring to win this class and take the BCC.
