Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier

Judge: Rob Jones

The standard of exhibits was excellent throughout the classes and I had to make some tough choices. Despite a quite nice day we had to use an inside ring because they had re-seeded the grass outside. Some dogs found the parallel lined grids inside the ring a little off-putting which I made allowances for.

A big thank you to my two lovely stewards.

1st - Ch Greentree Gold Mombo to Denzilly (Imp Usa) (Ms J L & Mr G J Dowdy)

It was a pleasure to go over this boy who I believe has broken the breed record tor CC’s recently and easy to see why.

Ideal size and shape with no exaggerations. Stood four square. A Great free flowing coat that was not over-trimmed. Classic headpiece and furnishings. A Good scissor bite and well placed canines. A level topline which was held on the move. Good bend of stifle with well let down hocks. A correct tailset to finish off the picture. Moved with drive and purpose RCC, BVIB

2nd - Flaxela Living Legend of Gwendonydd (Mrs S V & Mr G S Williams)

Top sized boy sporting a lovely coat. Very strongly constructed and in a fit condition.

Nice head with a clear mask. Big clean teeth for his age, with neat ears and good eye pigmentation.

Good front and strong pasterns. Level topline with good rear angulations. Walked well.

1st - Keevasdream Purple Viking (Mrs D & Mr S Springford)

6 month old bundle of fun. His first show I believe. Hard to go over because he just wanted to play. There’s plenty of time for the serious stuff though. His soft clear coat stood out and you just know it’s going to be great when he gets older. Of a nice size and construction with good level topline, straight front and good rear angles. I think a few sessions at ring craft should sort the walking out. Promising puppy

Hard to believe she’s over 10 years old

1st - Keevasdream Purple Bliss for Spudler (Mrs J & Mr G Grimes & Watson)

Like her litter brother in MPD a bit playful but walked rather better. A lovely clear soft coat, of a kind that usually stands out when it reaches an adult. Of a nice size for her age with all the attributes that should make her stand out in higher classes. One to watch. BPB, BPIB
