Breed: Sealyham Terrier

SEALYHAM TERRIER

Firstly, I must apologise for the delay in submitting this report. Although my critique was emailed to the dog press on the 16th of August, I have recently been informed it was never published.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to judge my other heart breed, the Sealyhams. My thanks to Leeds for the appointment and a special thanks to Julie & Barry for their professional stewarding throughout my two breeds. However, I was very disappointed that I felt the need to withhold the Dog res CC. I felt in all honesty that no matter what an exhibit might have presented like last month, or indeed might look like the next, you judge the dogs on the day. It is preferred that dogs are presented in a clean and well-groomed condition.

Class PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HOWLE, Mrs Jayne Susan, Dinglebrooke I Can, this rising 2 years lad has a correct bite with good sized teeth on his masculine head. Strong rear end with plenty behind the tail, OK for bone but claws needed attention. The breed standard requires an oblong outline, this chap is rather longer in back than this, although he does hold his topline.

Class OD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: BELL, Mrs Christine, Ch Zippor Sleepy Sapphireson At Letara, a super stunning, mature male at 5 years. This dog is quality with a capital “Q”, simply oozes breed type and is of the correct body proportions. His masculine head has enough width between the ears, dark eyes with a keen expression and good pigment plus a strong jaw. His muscular neck leads into well laid shoulders and has the medium body length required by the standard. He moves off well on his muscular quarters, holding his topline as he goes. His coat is of the correct texture and his presentation is par excellence. More than happy to award the CC & BOB and so pleased to see him pulled to the cut in the group.

2nd: HEMSTOCK, Dr Sarah Louise Jolihem Mad Eye Moody, masculine head with a powerful jaw, enough depth, and correct angulation at both ends although a fraction long. He stands on neat feet, and has ample bone on his limbs although I would have preferred to see appreciably more body condition.

Class JB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: BELL, Mrs Christine C Whooperhill Serendipity For Letara, feminine but with ample bone, this young lady will be one to watch. She is good for head and eye, her chest has depth and great front angulation. She is good for ribbing and hocks well let down plus moving off well.

Class 2543 PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: KHRENOV, Mrs Emma Louisa & KHRENOV, Mr Oleg Gelodnea Blodwyn, won this class on better construction, but would have preferred more attention to grooming. OK for head and eye, reasonable length of neck and ok for overall outline. She has strength all through but not really enjoying her day out.

2nd: BARNEY, Miss India & LEWIS, Mr Simon Nomis No Looking Back, well-trimmed and presented girl with a feminine head, dark eye & neat ears. She has a strong topline and holds it well. However, I would have preferred a touch more length of neck and a better layback of shoulder.

Class LB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: HEMSTOCK, Dr Sarah Louise Jolihem Loony Luna, good for outline and balance, this is a nice bitch although would have preferred her to carry a touch more weight. She has a pleasing head with a dark eye, excellent length of neck, good shoulders and ribbing plus well bent stifles. Movement difficult to access as not moved to her advantage.

Class 2545 OB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: MCNEILLIS, Mrs Carol & MCNEILLIS, Mr Antony Ch Magembay Merrydah, what a super bitch this young lady has turned out to be. I have judged her on a previous occasion stating “seriously considered for top honours” well this time, she did it! The same remarks apply including her fabulous head, feminine but with strength and wonderful pigmentation, excellent shoulder placement and depth with elbows tucked in. She has strength in topline and plenty behind the tail and she moves with drive. Her outline is to die for and she’s groomed to perfection with her sparking white jacket, I was so pleased to award her the CC.

2nd: HAMPSON, Miss Lisa Jeanette Saore On A Sunrise High (imp Ita) a smidge longer than 1, another super bitch slightly bigger all round than 1. She has a well shaped head with a dark eye and tidy ears, straight front, well sprung ribs and ample bone. Moving briskly on her well-muscled quarters she put in a good performance to win the Res CC.
