South West Whippet Club

Breed: Whippet
SOUTH WEST WHIPPET CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 2024 (Dogs) Well that was a cold one. Yes Bath did not let us down once again with a good fall of rain and when it was not raining it was so cold and really not kind for the whippets. I must say thank you to the committee for their hospitality and a big thank you for my lovely present of a delightful glass vase which I know will be well used. Of course thank you one and all for your entry. Sadly dogs are not as consistent in quality and type as the bitches, it definitely is a bitch breed. Dental hygiene does not seem to be a priority in some exhibitsI. Also there were a few with double teeth. Of course I know a very few will be delighted with their results the remainder not so and of course that is the downside of showing but we all know that we take home the best and dearest dogs of all and there is always next time. Thank you all again.

 VD 6 (1)

1. Byron’s Padstian Pip In New York VW. BVD. Two cracking veteran boys that put some of the younger dogs to shame and were a delight to judge. This fawn nearing his tenth year is built on classic lines. In lovely coat and condition. Correct proportions in head, long neck into clean flat shoulders and deep in brisket. In fact very smooth right along and through down to his strong second thighs.Moved well covering the ground easily. Smoother in the shoulders than 2 and also preferred this boys hind movement. Nit picking? I would like to see him a size smaller but then none of us are perfect are we? 2.Shepherd’s Ch.Citycroft Sundae With Oxana JW ShCM ShCEx VW. Eight year old fawn with white trim. Beautiful or should I say handsome head with the softest expression. Well balanced front and rear with no exaggerated angulations. Correct flowing top line and underline with good bone and feet. Again in great coat and condition. Moved out well in front and with youthful energy. 3.Severn’s Courtbirch Of Change For Nattah MPD 3 (2) 1.Anderson’s Rainfield Rainstar. Delightful 6 month old lemon brindle boy who sadly stood alone and what with the cold wind as well he was not as happy as he could have been. He is looking a quality pup and has all the curves in the right places correct bone and feet and lovely and smooth to go over. His size is promising also. His movement in front was a little chaotic but I think that was due to his worried mood and not too sure which direction he was going to be asked to go next. He is lacking in underjaw at the moment . I say at the moment as the under jaw is known to stop growing after seven months so he has time . Look forward to seeing him as he matures. PD 7 1.Allansson & Macdonald’s Zoraden Simply The Zest Of Macalldon. 10 month old fawn and white parti colour with black mask. This young dog looks to be more of a teenager at the moment as he is quite angular and leggy. Pleasing head, long neck and good lay back of shoulders with front legs well underneath him and brisket down to his elbows. Gentle rise over his loin with tuck up to match. Taller than I would prefer hopefully he will drop in body as he matures. Moved well and soundest in the class. 2.Poole, Morris & Waddle’s Falconcrag Match Maker At Crosscop. Absolutely loved the quality and size of this raw 10 months old puppy when he came into the ring. Handsome and correct head, long neck flowing into that deep and flowing body. Good width and strength in first and second thigh. Correct length to ribcage and moved out well in profile. It was disappointing to see that he has not matured in front movement as yet but hopefully maturity and the right exercise will help to improve it. Good luck 3.Strong & Clinton’s Crosscop Kiss Me Here For Mackjama JD 9 (2) 1.Dargue & Halliday’s Bowdonia Feet Of Flames At Jalwhipp. Smart young black brindle who has grown into his frame and now I am looking forward to seeing him drop down and fine down with maturity for the finishing touch. He was very pleasing to go over, smooth and softly flowing. Liked his length of body, bone and feet. Good width to thighs. Moved well around the ring. Beautifully presented. A worthy contender for top honours. His time will come soon I am sure. 2.Morland’s Zoraden Master Baker BPD. Quality fawn and white boy. Sweeping and curvy outline. Not showing any signs of the cold being quite relaxed and standing four square. Front legs well under him having flat bone and neat feet. Covering ground thanks to his balanced angulations. Another up and coming youngster. 3.Glithero Philo Mr P R Mrs S &Ms S R’s Palmik Against All The Odds For Coppershell YD 5 1.Yacoby-Wrights Ch.Cobyco City Limits Fawn dog of substance. Handsome masculine head. Neck into shoulders smooth and then flowed over top line. Well filled front consequently deep chested and well tucked up. Flat bone down to tidy feet. Nicely muscled and presented. Moved out well on the go round. 2.Arkell’s Hijacked Of Suriya (IMP DEU) Black brindle. Another masculine boy. Scopey but very pleasing outline . Really not enjoying this wet and windy weather but showed enough good points for his place in the class and moved well in profile. 3.Ms D Webber’s Lolani Ride A Wild Trail JW ND 11 (4) 1.Anderson’s Rainfield Rainstar. PD class winner.
2.Arkell’s Hijacked Of Suriya (IMP DEU). 2nd in YD 3.Middleton & Gilhooly’s Stormida Neon Tiger SBD 7 1.Lahoods Starceylon Spectre. Compact and curvy cream boy. Good for size in height. Making a balanced outline and certainly has breed type. Very good muscle tone in fact solid with fine coat. 2.Hughs & Jackson’s Penbrier Corruleam Sky .Again this racey blue and pretty boy has breed type but totally different style to 1. Still compact but finer through with shapely tuck up and top line. A little short in upper arm which shortened his stride. Super coat. 3.Severn’s Boland Baloo For Nattah GD 10 (2) 1.Jones & Grasmeres Johnny Be Good. Just approaching his first birthday and placed in PD and now looking more relaxed and showing a little more length. Pleasing head on this correct sized boy with strong long neck into a curvy and unexaggerated outline. Moved soundest in the class. 2.Lahoods Starceylon Spectre. 1st in SBD 3.Middleton & Gilhoolys Stormida The Brave PGD 9 (1)
Turnbull J & Turnbull V”s Ticks The Boxes. DCC & BIS. What an absolute treat it was to find this brindle boy who through no fault of his own or his owner has only just recently being campaigned. Totally new to me he answered my request for an elegant but masculine example of the breed. Handsome, well constructed head with strong under jaw and neat ears. The smoothest shoulders which just flow into his shapely well balanced body. Possessing strong thighs and low hocks which drove him around the ring with seemingly effortless and soundest movement and keeping his top line all the while. 2.Yeates Winter & Morland Miss D, Mr LR & Miss A’s Zoraden Maserati. Compact red fawn boy of correct height with nice curves and firm muscles. No exaggerations but subtle angulations. Moved actively around the ring. 3.Wayman Miss H”s Ranveli Beach Boy At Scarletfair LD 11 (3) 1.Shepherd’s Kidaruka It’s Showtime At Oxana Red fawn with white trim. Spot on for size. Another elegant male. Classic head with kind eye. Well filled and straight front standing well over his front legs and neat feet. Smooth and flowing over his well sprung ribs and rise over loin. Moved soundly with balanced drive around the ring. RCC 2.Dillon & Bailey’s Ch. Eat My Shorts At Runforest. Black brindle. Another well made example of the breed. More of him than the first but made with correct front and rear angulations, deep and long ribcage and strength in hind quarters. Kept his top line and covered the ground well on the move. 3.Byron Miss E L’s Jasarat Gucci SPECIAL LURE COURSING OR RACING 1.Webber Ms D’s Denimblue W JWilldo. Blue with white trim masculine dog. Such a well made dog. Good hound head topping long muscular neck. Shoulders well laid back, curvaceous top and under line finishing with strong well angulated hind quarters. Moved with purpose. Certainly fit for function. 2.Webber Miss D’s Lorain Ride A Wild Trial JW. Stable mate of the first. Loved his typey head. Not so tall as one but again well made and curvy with excellent muscle tone . Stood four square. Moved easily around the ring. Again he was fit for function. 3.Yeates Winter & Morland Miss D Mr L R & Miss A Pauline Oliver
