THREE COS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

GUNDOG GROUP

An excellent day spent at the Three Counties Championship Show & I must say a huge thank you to Helen Wayman, Secretary & her excellent team for putting on such a well run show with well filled rings throughout the day. Her support team certainly know how to efficiently ensure that the day went well & that there was a good atmosphere & that the whole show run like clockwork.

All too soon it was group time & with only one group on the final day, a good audience enjoyed & applauded the dogs that came in to the beautifully well presented group ring with the grass just the right length for me to see the feet of the dogs. Thank you too to the main Society’s committee who had come along to watch the final group & BIS, I hope they enjoyed their time at the show.

An honour to judge a full group with only one breed missing. How lucky was I to see so many quality dogs set up for my perusal including some puppies who had taken BOB. A hard decision to pick a shortlist but I eventually was able to take it down to nine, meaning that there was at least another four that could have made the cut.

The shortlist included the well presented Bracco, Braccorions You Are My Candy, the young GSP, Tequesta Poldark JW, the quality yellow Labrador, Sh Ch Cremino Calabrese, the well presented English Springer Spaniel, Sh Ch Trimere Time Flys & the good moving Sussex Spaniel, Sh Ch Eald Dances With Wolves among Nyliram JW ShCEx OSW.

After moving them again together, I couldn’t go passed the Clumber Spaniel, Sh Ch Vanitonia Soloist, a beautiful dog who I had given the CC to at a City of Birmingham last year. Oh how he has gone on & matured into an excellent example of the breed. Put down in excellent coat & pristine condition, he is balanced & quality & today nothing could lower his flag. He continued his winning ways & I was thrilled to see him take RBIS under the well respected all rounder, Robin Newhouse.

The Clumber was closely followed by another who I gave a first CC to, the Pointer, Wilchrimane Charisma, who was made up on the day. She still gives me goosebumps & again from the top drawer & her profile movement is so very correct with excellent head carriage, she is quality & has also gone on to be a beautiful example of the breed.

How could I leave out the Welsh Springer bitch, Sh Ch Nyliram Telling Tales JW ShCEx OSW, another I gave a first CC to & now she had won her 20th on the day! Excellent proportions & such a pretty head & expression, again her movement was so precise & effortless. She held her own in such a strong line-up.

I surprised myself by choosing the veteran Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla, Sh Ch Tragus Honey Bee JW, the more she moved & the more I looked at her, I realised how correct she was & how she belies her age. Her coat is excellent with the correct texture, she is balanced & quality & of course well handled to get the best from her.
