North East Of England Toydog Society

Breed: Memorial Stakes Classes
THE NORTH EAST OF ENGLAND TOY DOG SOCIETY NEWCASTLE RACECOURSE 14th July 2024 It was rather a bitter sweet experience judging these special classes. Shealagh Waters (Maibee) Rob Sansom (Byermoor) and Elaine & Alan Shail (Rossbonny) were a huge part of my life (and the lives of many other friends here today) and whilst I felt privileged to be invited to judge their memorial classes I so wished they were here and I was spending time in their company instead of paying tribute to their memory. They meant so much to so many. I know they were probably all together watching over us and smiling and laughing at the goings on at what turned out to be a fabulous inaugural show. Thank you to everyone who entered and heartfelt thanks to Wendy and Andrew Waters, Ernie Patterson and the Shail Family who generously donated the handsome prize money of £100, £50, £30, £20, £10 for each of the three classes. I hope they would all have approved of my choices in the Puppy, Adult and Veteran classes. Shealagh, Rob, Elaine and Alan were in my head and heart at various times during the day. I know they would have loved how the show brought people together. If there were moaners they were few and were drowned out by the camaraderie and good humour that had descended on our show. With these three classes our Society will keep these special people close and never forgotten. Forever and always. SHEALAGH WATERS MEMORIAL STAKES. The entry was 30. A fabulous class of puppies awaited me and to select only 5 wasn’t easy. I am sure that many of these will go onto have dazzling show careers. Here are my five of the best. 1st Cawthera-Purdy’s LIREVA WILD & WONDERFUL (Pomeranian) An 11 months Orange who moved stylishly to take the top spot. Presented in full coat he looked a picture and stood willingly showing off his enviable outline. Loved his short back and neatness. Appealing head with tidy sized ears, fine muzzle and dark expressive eyes. Good substance with firm body and tail set high and carried correctly. Moved accurately with attitude. Will be heard many times in future outings. An easy ride to the top I wager. 2nd Robb’s GLENIREN MIRACLE STARMAKER (Papillon) Pretty little tricolour who pushed winner all the way. As cute as a button. Face full of breed points. Bright eyes, correct roundness to skull, large ears, tapered muzzle. Ultra feminine and dainty with a super outline. Front and rear angles match perfectly and her movement is light and fluid. She gives 100% and shows so well convincing you that she was born to be on this stage. Plenty of soft and silky coat adds to her glamour. No question her star is rising. 3rd Turnbull’s NICOBRI’S LORD OF THE RINGS JW (Pug) Reserve Easdon & Martin’s YAKEE STARRY STARRY NIGHT (Pekingese) VHC Walker’s CARSAN RICHIE RICH (Cavalier) ROB SANSOM MEMORIAL STAKES 44 entered to support this class. Some lovely representatives of the toy breeds. 1st Dunlop’s CH HABIBA HOLD MY PURSE (Chinese Crested) Well known hairless whose ring performance is so polished that from the ringside you can only be impressed. It is all so effortless and natural. But she is more than just eye candy. Very girly with elongated skull, lean cheeks, dark eyes and good crest. Pleasing to go over with all parts fitting together. Clean sweep, from neck, through shoulders to top line finishing with angulated hindquarters. Elegant mover with proud head carriage. I enjoyed the opportunity to go over her and I wasn’t disappointed. Wind her up and watch her go. She lived up to her reputation. 2nd Graham’s CH JAMENELI WHIRLWIND (Lowchen) Handsome lad in his 7th year who looked fabulous. Lots of time and effort had clearly been spent on his show preparation and his quality coat was immaculate. Loved his head and knowing expression with gentle dark eyes, dense pigment and good ear fringing. Reachy neck leading into good shoulders and firm top line. Lots of style in his movement and he is so eye catching. A real pin up. 3rd Hick’s DATIRO TIGGER POINT (Griffon) Reserve Lovel’s CH LOVETRAC THEODORA (CKCS) VHC Aspinall’s EITHLYNN GRATEFUL HEART (Bichon) THE ROSSBONNY MEMORIAL STAKES 20 Veterans entered. It’s always heartwarming to see them out strutting their stuff reminding us that there’s still life in the the old dog yet. And they all looked like they were enjoying the outing. 1st Hick’s Ch CARMICHAN HEIDI HI (Affenpinscher) This lovely old girl is aging like a fine wine. I judged her when she was 3 years old and now at 8 she looks every bit as good. Her expression is still bright eyed with that monkey cheekiness that no other breed rivals. Front and rear angles combine well and she goose stepped with confidence around the ring holding her tail up. Shown in lovely condition and is a willing show girl. Lovely to see her again. A special girl. 2nd Burden’s SANGRIA WAR LORD (Japanese Chin) We meet again. I judged this lovely black/white boy a week earlier at a Club show and he made an impression. Today he was more than able to hold his own against the other Toy breeds. Typical head properties with rounded skull, large dark eyes and high set ears. 8 years old presented in a well marked silky coat covering a compact body. With head up and tail set high and carried over his back he looked good circling the ring. Easy on the eye and well made. Good combination to succeed. 3rd Parker’s CHANTICO SHOOTING STAR AMID PARKBOW (L/C Chihuahua) Reserve Murray’s RIX CHIX CLEMATIS OF JAMBERCHI (S/C Chihuahua) VHC Crowe’s CH ESTILLINIS SILVER SURFER AT CASACAVALLO JW (Swed imp) (Chinese Crested) Norma Inglis (Judge)
