SKC Toy group critique

Many thanks to the officer’s and Committee for the honour of judging the Toy Group at their May Championship Show.

The group was well presented with many superb Toys.

After my shortlist the overall winners were:

1st Jackson & Rycroft. Benatone Love Affair.Maltese.

A 3 year old bitch of outstanding quality.

Her head is of equal balance with a well defined stop. Her nose is black and she has a broad muzzle. Eyes are dark brown with black eye rims.

Her ears are long and well feathered and hanging close to her head.

Correct scissor bite and neck of medium length.

Legs short and straight and shoulders well sloped.

Her body is short and cobby with a good spring of rib and level topline.

Tail carried over her back and moved straight and true.

2nd Robb & Gudbergsdottir. Multi.Ch Fashion First High Priority (Imp).Papillon

A 3 year old male of superb quality.

His head is of the correct proportions. Skull slightly rounded between the ears. His muzzle is finely pointed . He has a well definded stop and black nose. Rounded eyes of medium size with dark eye rims. Ears are very large and mobile with rounded tips and heavily fringed. Correct scissor bite. Neck of medium length ,leading into well laid shoulders. Good depth of chest. Body fairly long. Good hindquarters with correct hare feet. Tail long and well fringed set on high. Superb free movement and handled so well.

3rd Chapman & Ireland Ch Ellemich American Express. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

What can I say about this super example of this breed that has not been said before.

His head is of the correct proportions. Skull flat between the ears. Shallow stop. His nostrils are black and well developed. Lips are not pendulous. Eyes are dark and round and ear set on correct. Neck of moderate length with a slight arch. His body is short coupled with a good spring of rib, Level backed and tail set on correct. At one with his handler and correct true movement.

4. Ryan, Ch Cavillibrook Blimay O Riley.

3 year old King Charles Spaniel. His head is moderately large, well domed and full over his eyes. His nose is black with large opened nostrils with a good short turn up. Stop is well defined, square muzzle wide and deep. Cheeks well cushioned. Eyes are relatively dark set wide apart. His ears are set low and hanging close to cheeks with good feathering. Body is deep, wide chest and level back. Good hindquarters with compact well-padded feet. Moved well
