Breed: Bichon Frise

The Ladies Kennel Association 12th-15th December 2024

Judge Maureen Reynolds.

Overall pigmentation was good, very few off noses, which is excellent considering the lack of sun this year.

Muscle tone was generally lacking, which naturally impacted on movement. Again I felt this is down to the awful weather over recent months. It is not easy to keep dogs in firm condition while maintaining coat. Dirty teeth are just poor housekeeping, and I was disappointed with some that look immaculate until I looked at their bite. There is a health issue attached to poor dental hygiene so something to think about there.

Being last in the ring did no favours particularly for the bitches, many seemed a bit fed up and therefore did not give of their best.

I was pleased with all of my principle winners, and very happy to see the BOB win Group 4.

Minor Puppy Dog 2 (Ab1)

Deizi The Days Of Our Lives (Day Mr M & Miss E)

Pretty head and expression. Not yet in total control his limbs, but lovely temperament.

Puppy Dog 0

Junior Dog 1(Ab 0)

Wolimorb Cosmic Star over Dixido (Reid Mrs F)

A little erratic on the move to start with, then settled nicely. Very pretty head and pigment. A little lacking in muscle tone. Has time on his side.

Post Gradute Dogs 2 (Ab 0)

1st Lovjen Angle of Fire (Johnstone Mrs M)

Better front and rear movement.

2nd Deizi Gimmie, Gimmie,Gimmie.( Day Mr M & Miss E)

Shorter in neck than 1 and tail set a little on the low side for me.

Limit Dog 7 (Ab4)

1st Wolimorb Top Gun JW (Bromilow Miss J)

Very pretty head and expression. Movement was a little erratic at times today. Would benefit from a little more coat on the body, and a little less on the head and legs. Too much flapping coat does make it hard for the judge to concentrate on footfall, and can exaggerate any deviation in movement.

2nd Wolimorb When Stars Align. (Burnett Mrs S)

Not quite the head and expression of 1, but sound on the move.

3rd Luka Songbird (Crawford Miss V J)

Open Dog 7 (Ab 3)

1st Ch Ashmair Live to Tell Mamose ShCEx (IKC) (Moss Mrs M & Connolly Miss A) DCC BOB

Larger than 2, moved steadily and stylishly around the ring. Lovely construction.Commanded attention. Very handsome dog. Beautifully presented and shown to great advantage.

2nd Ch Louisanna Heartbreaker (Stafford Miss G)

Very different type to 1. Very pretty head. Full of Fizz. So much to like about both of them. An equally worthy champion. RDCC

3rd Ch Manoir’s Licensed to Thrill for Brokengate (Anderson Mrs H M)

Good Citizen Dog 0

Special Beginners Dog 3 (Ab1)

1st Wolimorb When Stars Align (Burnett Mrs S)

2nd Luka Songbird (Crawford Miss V J)

A typical Bichon temperament, very content with himself. He could do with a little less dinner and a little more coat.

Veteran Dog or Bitch 2 (Ab1)

Sormusten Christmas Magic at Morusha (Imp Fin) (Lawrie Mrs E)

A real favourite of mine. He is beginning to show his age now, but still very pretty and he can out move dogs half his age. I regret not having had the opportunity to judge him in his youth.
