Breed: Bichon Frise

The Ladies Kennel Association 12th-15th December 2024

Judge Maureen Reynolds.

Overall pigmentation was good, very few off noses, which is excellent considering the lack of sun this year.

Muscle tone was generally lacking, which naturally impacted on movement. Again I felt this is down to the awful weather over recent months. It is not easy to keep dogs in firm condition while maintaining coat. Dirty teeth are just poor housekeeping, and I was disappointed with some that look immaculate until I looked at their bite. There is a health issue attached to poor dental hygiene so something to think about there.

Being last in the ring did no favours particularly for the bitches, many seemed a bit fed up and therefore did not give of their best.

Minor Puppy Bitch 4 (Ab1)

1st Deizi This Girl Is On Fire (Hill Miss A)

Moved with real drive. Halos eye size both good, but not the most flattering of trim.

2nd Quissmar Power Lightning. (Johnstone Mrs M)

Pretty head and expression. Not as positive on the move as 1. Time will help.

3rd Milliearrana Little Secret at Lucakenzal (Larkin Miss S L)

Puppy Bitch 3 (Ab1)

1st Louisianna Can’t Tame Her (Stafford Miss G)

So well named. A very pretty head and expression, and once (if) her handler gets her under control I am sure she has a good future. BPB

2nd Milliearrana Little Secret at Lucakenzal (Larkin Miss S L)

Another pretty head and expression, but needs time to settle. Not as positive on the move as 1. Had a tendency to crab

Junior Bitch 5 (Ab 2)

1st Brokengate Madam Arcati (Dennis Mrs E) RBCC

Smaller and exquisitely pretty. Moved well. Beautifully balanced. Presented and handled well. I look forward to watching her progress.

2nd Pamplona Nina Simone (Coad Mr M)

A larger bitch than 1 and slightly plainer in head. She was not so settled in the ring, and I got the impression that she was not really enjoying her day.

3rd Wattlemead Blue Sapphire (Robinson Mrs A)

Post graduate Bitch 4

1st Brokengate’s Rebel Heart at Kantosky (Wilson Miss D)

Smaller pretty bitch. Not as sound on the move as 2, but better head and expression.

2nd Pearlwhite Amazing Grace. (Innes Mr J & Mrs M)

A slightly larger bitch. She has a decent head and expression and she moved soundly around the ring. The presentation could be improved, but breed judging is not a grooming competition. A good honest bitch.

3rd Eithlynn Grateful Heart At Lanipsa (Aspinall Mrs C)

Limit Bitch 6 (ab3)

Pinefield Dressed For Success at Quissmar (Marquiss Mrs A)

1st A pretty bitch and appeared well balanced, but for some reason insisted on sidewinding. I could find no constructional reason for it.

2nd Manoir’s Queen of the Night at Silviana (Swietnicky Mrs I & Mr M)

Would have preferred better pigment. She was on the chunky side, which affected her movement.

3rd Lady Bernice (Crawford Miss VJ)

Open Bitch 7 (Ab3)

1st Deizi Diamonds Are Forever (Hill Miss A & Macleod Mrs L)

Good pigment. Pretty expression. Well presented and moved well. Just gave up in the challenge for BOB. I note that she won the junior class under me at Crufts 2023. So pleased that she has achieved her title (the old way) BCC

2nd Ch Quissmar Chasing Lightening (Marquiss Mrs A)

Another pretty bitch, lovely head and expression. there is a lot to like about her, but for some reason her movement was very erratic today and again I could find no constructional reason for it.

3rd Ch Beausox Miss O’Hara (Venables Mrs A)
