Richmond Dog Show Society

Breed: Irish Red & White Setter
I should like to thank the Secretary, Officers and Committee for their most generous invitation to Judge at this most prestigious show. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and the opportunity to assess many quality dogs and the sporting way that all my placing’s were received. The hospitality extended to me throughout my time spent at Richmond was excellent. Irish Red & White Setter. Veteran Dog (2, 1abs) 1ST Ward, Mrs L R, Sh Ch Cornadore Argyle With Copperwhite: What an absolutely beautiful exhibit of this breed and definitely not showing his age of 9 years. So very well presented and shown. Excellent overall type of dog. This dog is extremely well balanced and excels in overall construction. He has good quality bone all through, of good size and proportions. Super head and expression with round eye without haw. Dentition, correct, clean and complete, ears set level and lying close to head, strong muscular neck into excellent shoulder placement with corresponding return of upper arm, deep brisket of good width, well ribbed back, strong loin, muscular hindquarters with well bent stifles, neat close-knit with short nails. Moved accurately and soundly in all profiles with effortless gait – he demonstrated an excellent open side gait. Puppy Dog (2, 1abs) 1ST Tait, Mrs J, Talintyre Fomhar Reiver (ATC BA21985308): A very promising young puppy of 11 months of age. I really did liked this dog who was presented and shown very well – understandably very raw. Very good head slightly domed with prominent stop, ears correctly set, square muzzle with dentition that was correct, clean and complete. Strong neck which was slightly arched into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, deep chest of good width, good bone all through, well ribbed back, good hindquarters which were used to advantage on the move where he moved soundly and accurately whenever asked. Best Puppy. Junior Dog (3) 1ST Ward, Mrs L R, Roanjora Cremant De Lux Copperwhite: An extremely impressive young dog of 14 months of age who caught my eye upon entering the ring because of his overall balance and breed type. Very good head. Strong muzzle, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck into well placed shoulder and return of upper arm, deep chest of good width, firm back and very good hindquarters with good width of second thigh, feet tight with short nails. Moved at the correct speed accurately both fore and aft demonstrating and effortless but powerful gait. I was extremely pleased to award this young male the Reserve Dog Challenge Certificate today – he can only get better as he matures. 2ND Mcdonald, Miss R & Westwood Mrs T & Westwood Miss S, Roanjora Cremant De Savoie Avec Eusanit: Another impressive young male, litter brother to my first placed exhibit. Many of the afore mentioned attributes apply: My first placed exhibit was just a little further on in terms of development. Super head and expression, dentition correct, clean and complete, quality bone all through. Clean, strong neck into very good forehand assembly. Good depth and width of brisket, well sprung ribs into strong loin, coat of good quality, moderate turn of stifle, on the move he was both sound and accurate. 3RD Martin, Mr S J & Martin Mrs M & Green, M, Rhowendale Game Is On Again For Viszaset (Imp Fin) Open Dog (4) 1ST Tait, Mrs J, Sh Ch Talintyre Winter Shadow: A male of nearly 5 years of age and looking at his best, fully mature. Presented a very good and clean outline. Excellent, proportionate head and kind expression with well set ears, eye of correct colour and shape, dentition correct, clean and complete. She scored in forehand construction, overall balance and breed type. Deep chest of good width, well sprung ribs. Strong hindquarter assembly with moderate turn of stifle. Tight, neat feet. Moved soundly and accurately – at one with her handler. She has still to develop her coat, and her immaturity stood out in the final line-up. Post Graduate Bitch (2) 1ST Bootland, Mrs R, Ambancy Dancing Queen: I really liked this bitch of just over 3 years of age. There is a problem – I do not believe that the owner realises the potential of this bitch: Dog showing, as we all know is an expensive hobby and as such and whilst I do of course understand that for many it is a social occasion, all exhibits should be shown to their full potential and taken seriously. This bitch is very well balanced and was presented in fit muscular condition, very workmanlike in outline and balanced. Balanced head with soft expression and dark eye, dentition correct, clean and complete, strong neck into good forehand assembly, very good depth and width to chest, well ribbed back into strong, wide muscular loin, well bent stifles, moved soundly and accurately, once settled and controlled. Reserve Bitch Challenge Certificate. 2ND Hawkins, Ms G, Rubethan Florentine Of Aislinwood: An extremely feminine bitch of 7 years of age. She is well balanced and of a pleasing type but she is marginally fine in bone for me. Balanced feminine head with soft expression, dentition correct clean and complete, neck of good length and clean into well placed shoulder, well ribbed back into strong loin, moderate bend of stifle, neat feet, moved well, accurately and soundly. Open Bitch (3) 1ST Barnes, Mr N E & Mrs L J, Sh Ch Ambancy This 3 year old bitch stood out in her class today – what a bitch! Exudes and exemplifies breed type for the point of her nose to the tip of her tail. I loved her the moment she stepped into my ring and she did not disappoint me once I had got my hands on her. So very well balanced all through and free of any exaggeration or coarseness. Presented in super condition and a lovely picture in outline and profile. Excellent feminine head with correct eye giving soft expression. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Strong neck into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm with deep chest of good width with brisket reaching the elbows. Level topline. Coat of excellent quality. Good spring of rib, with strong loin and well muscled hindquarters, with clear and definite second thigh. Tight round feet. Super quality bone all through. Moved well and accurately both fore, aft and in profile whenever asked by her excellent handler who really did very ounce out of her. My absolute pleasure to aware her the Bitch Challenge Certificate and Best Of Breed. 2ND Walker, Mrs E E, Sh Ch Zendarric It’s A Kind Of Magic Within Wroxham JW 3RD Mcdonald, Mrs A D & Mcdonald, Miss R & Mcdonald Mr R, Roanjora Rioja Crianza Martyn J Rees (Judge)
