PAIGNTON AND DISTRICT FANCIERS’ ASSOCIATION CAIRN TERRIERS – Judge Louise Peers Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge at their well-run show, and for the warm welcome and hospitality. Many thanks to the exhibitors for giving me a quality entry and for travelling so far. It was both an honour and a pleasure to judge your dogs. Some sadly underperformed and stopped showing when it mattered the most, but I was especially pleased with the dogs to whom I gave top honours. Apologies that I was unable to stay to support you in the groups, but I hear both puppy and BOB put on a good performance. Special Beginners Dog or Bitch – No Entries Minor Puppy Dog (2,0) 1st - Inett, & Harrison’s Carradine Bright Cider Life – Happy, showy 7 mth red brindle pup of nice size. Nice head with good ear placement, good stop and dark eye, correct scissor bite with strong lower jaw. Neck set on correctly, nicely angled shoulders. Ribcage and loin in proportion, moved with level topline. Good tail set finished the picture. BPIB 2nd - Rose’s Carradine All Ways A Chance – Brother to 1 but darker in colour, with another nice head. Good length of neck, shoulders ok, correct rib, and bone ok. Loved this boys’ neat feet. Sadly, he appeared very overawed by the noise in the hall, which affected his movement. Puppy Dog (1,0) 1st - Rose’s Carradine All Ways A Chance Junior Dog (1,0) 1st - Rose’s Carradine All Ways A Chance Yearling Dog – No Entries Post Graduate Dog (2,0) 1st – Thomas’s Tycadno Magic Man - Wheaten with well furnished, masculine head, good stop and used ears well. Correct dentition. Angulations balanced, length of back in proportion to height, tail well set on and used continuously. He was in good coat and showed and handled well. DCC 2nd – Harrison, Inett & Bateman’s - Carradine My Way Lenny – Grey brindle with a masculine head, correct dark eye and good stop – correct scissor bite and nice to see the large teeth. Stands well forward on front, well placed shoulders, and nicely balanced at rear. Correct size. Not as mature as 1, and needs time, but loved his movement. Limit Dog – No Entries Open Dog (3,0) 1st – Parker Tucker’s Uniquecottage Grey Borage – This boy had the best movement of the males today - Free flowing with drive from the rear. Masculine head with correct stop, scissor bite and strong jaw, and dark eye. Beautifully balanced angulations, correct shape rib, allowing correct free front movement good bone, held a level topline and moved soundly, In his class he showed himself to his advantage. Sadly, when he came back in for the challenge, he had completely stopped showing, so could only award him RCC. 2nd - Inett, & Harrison’s Carradine Apple Jack – Red, and another good head from this kennel. Good length of neck, well placed shoulders with correct angulation front and rear. Correct shape rib and length of body in proportion to height. Tail set excellent, and used well, much to like about him, as he is a nice size overall. Moved with drive. 3rd – Jones & Arnold’s Ch Tycadno Tom Foolery Veteran Dog – No Entries Minor Puppy Bitch (2,0) 1st – Clarke’s Furythor Born to Sparkle By Lentica - Dark brindle 8mth pup, pretty, feminine head, correct mouth and dark eye. Length and placement of neck ok, balanced angulation, short loin. Had width at rear, but difficult to assess her movement at times, and gave her handler a challenging time. 2nd Thomas’s Tycadno Winter Star Wheaten, 7mth who needs time to develop. Feminine head, dark eye gives a lovely expression, uses her ears well, good length of neck, would like a touch more forearm. Held a level topline on the move, but front movement needs to tighten. Puppy Bitch (1,1) Junior Bitch (1,0) 1st - Shaw’s Ch Tycadno Star Attraction at Honeyhall – Beautifully presented, wheaten brindle with dark points. Very feminine, with well proportioned head with good furnishings, and well-placed ears which she used well. Neck flowed into correct shoulders with correct angles. Good depth and shape of ribcage allowed free front movement. Nice firm, short loin, held a level topline, and showed her socks off. Moved with drive and purpose and very in tune with her handler. Pleasure to award BCC and BOB. Yearling Bitch – No Entries Post Graduate Bitch (2,1) 1st - Parker-Tucker’s Bireslaw Floral Dancer of Uniquecottage Light red brindle with dark points. Lovely clean neck and shoulder placement ok. Holds level topline on the move, and correct angulations enabled her to stirde out well. Liked her size. RBCC 2nd – Dolan’s Glenrood Midnight Spell - Dark brindle, who is overall finer than 1. Head for me, although feminine, it was a little narrow, but well furnished. Moved ok and held her topline. Veteran Bitch – No Entries Judge - Louise Peers
