SKC October show 2024

Italian Greyhound

Judge: Miss L Tarabad (Khatibi)

My first time awarding CC’s in the breed and I was delighted with the entry. There was plenty of quality throughout but it was very interesting having a double show with the October show judging following immediately after the May show. I think for some dogs they got the chance to settle and showed better the second time, others (especially the puppies) were less impressed the second time they were asked to concentrate!

Class 1423 PD (2)

1st: 10274 WILLCOCK, Mr David Newill Haymaker. Almost a year old and so had the edge here in maturity and experience so made a much better account of himself than 2. Quality puppy with elegant outline, arched neck, straight front, nice topline and well constructed rear. Beautiful head and expression, maturing as expected for his age and I have no doubt should gain his title with little trouble. Moved accurately with good lift in front, using his rear well.

2nd: 10264 HAJDAS, Miss E Marchwind Piccolito Mr Broadway. 6months old baby with delightful happy temperament who unfortunately just wouldn’t settle enough on the move but I’m sure will have better days. Sound construction with nice balance to his outline, just needs to strengthen in front.

Class 1424 JD (3)

1st: 10263 HAJDAS, Miss E Marchwind Piccolito Home Sweet Home. Another puppy, just 6 months old but making a super account of himself and winning the class on his accurate movement, the best out and back in the class. Elegant and balanced in outline with good topline and underline, fine strong bone, lovely skin and fine coat. Flat skull of good length with bright expressive eyes and neat ears. Moved soundly maintaining a nice outline in profile.

2nd: 10272 THORNE, Miss Chloe Boccalupo Lucky Luciano (Can Imp) 12month dog in superb condition and handled expertly. A little more of him all through than 1 but still presents a balanced outline and is a super showman. Masculine head with nice eyes and expression. Arched neck, good depth of chest and length of rib, preferred the topline of 1. Moved with purpose, I’m sure will attract many admirers as he matures.

3rd: 10255 AMSEL, Mrs J B & HAYDEN -SMITH, MRS MAGS Artmeis Wild Card Of Regallust

Class 1425 LD (2)

1st: 10256 AMSEL, Mrs J B & HAYDEN -SMITH, MRS MAGS Artmeis Aces High Of Regallust. Yet another puppy winning his way into the challenge! 10months old and maturing well for his young age, showing like a seasoned pro and so impressive on the move. Lovely for size, elegant and balanced with lovely neck and shoulders, good topline, narrow chest, good length of rib, strong, well constructed rear, straight front and parallel rear. Gorgeous head, typical of this line, long and narrow with fine muzzle and alert expression from his large bright eyes. Moved so well in all directions maintaining his graceful outline as he circled the ring. Very impressive puppy who deservedly took the RCC and BP.

2nd: 10259 BRUNDTLAND, Ms Ingun Miwell Alex Mcqueen. Attractively headed dog with flat skull of good length, fine muzzle and strong jaw, expressive eyes and fine neat ears. Presents a nice outline standing with gleaming fine coat. Not as positive on the move as 1, coming towards a little wide and not the drive from the rear.

Class 1426 OD (2 )

1st: 10267 LEE, Mr Paul & AMSEL, Mrs J Ch Artmeis Jokers Wild. Mature, top quality dog in optimum condition with lovely skin and coat and the standout winner of the DCC from this entry. Loved his size and graceful lines from his arched neck into correct topline, deep narrow chest, nice underline and good sweep of stifle. Straight front and parallel rear with strong fine bone and hocks well let down. Moved with super propulsion from the rear, good lift and reach in front, accurate out and back and holding his outline firm in profile. Beautiful head and expression finishes an impressive package. DCC and just had the edge over his sister for BOB, what a litter!

2nd: 10261 CHAU, Miss Christine & STEELE JR., Mr James R Ch & US Gr Ch Jaros Ferazi Et Tu Brute At Sfizimio. A well known dog who has much to admire, very elegant and soundly constructed with the most impressive profile movement. Beautiful head, long and narrow with near ears and fine muzzle. He looked like he’d dropped a little condition (perhaps girls on his mind!) and didn’t seem that happy in the noisy hall but I can certainly appreciate his many qualities.

Class 1428 SBD (1 )

1st: 10272 THORNE, Miss Chloe Boccalupo Lucky Luciano (Can Imp)(2nd JD)

Class 1430 PB (5,1) Very mixed class of babies

1st: 10275 WILLCOCK, Mr David Newill Swift Wind. Easy winner here, typical outline and balance with good topline and underline, could stand straighter in front, good depth of chest and length of rib and nicely constructed rear. Ultra feminine with pretty head, long and narrow with nice eyes and slight stop. Moved soundly with good lift in front. BPB

2nd: 10271 MELLIS, Dr J M Lamoye's Creme Fraiche. 10 months old, appealed on the move especially in profile but was a little nervous so wasn’t always making the most of herself. Nice for size and outline, front could be straighter, fine bone and parallel rear. Pleasing head and expression. Just needs to gain some confidence.

3rd: 10276 WILSON, Mrs Nakita O’hare Plendlethrine Run Baby Run At Atikan

Class 1432 LB (4)

1st: 10270 MELLIS, Dr J M Miwell Mary Quant By Lamoye JW. Super sound bitch who makes a lovely shape standing with long arched neck, good front assembly, deep narrow chest, good length of rib and well angulated rear. Slender and elegant with feminine head of good length with neat fine ears and large bright eyes. Such a confident showgirl presented in first class condition with lovely skin and coat. Sound and effortless on the move, using her rear well and displaying good lift in front. Does tend to flatten out a little but her accuracy on the move won her a well deserved RCC.

2nd: 10266 HARDIE, Miss R M Albalevriero Corriebeg. Slightly larger but with balanced outline, fine skin and coat and nice temperament. Long flat head with slight stop, correctly placed ears and lovely bright expressive eyes. Moved freely.

3rd: 10260 CENTELLA RODRIGUEZ, Mr. Jose Luis Pizpireta De Talonkan

Class 1433 OB (3 ) Lovely class with all 3 sharing the same sire and little to separate them.

1st: 10257 AMSEL, Mrs J B & RISHWORTH, Ms Helen Ch Artmeis Three Card Trick. One I have judged before and yet again she impressed me enough to top the bitch entry. Litter sister to the DCC winner and the family resemblance is clear to see. So sound and smooth to go over with flowing lines from her arched neck, lovely topline, good sweep of stifle and strong parallel rear. Standing straight in front with deep, narrow chest, good underline and a beautiful glossy coat. Gorgeous head and expression with large bright eyes, long fine muzzle, strong jaw and neat ears. Handled expertly to show off her sound, accurate movement perfectly. Holding her outline firm, displaying a typical gait and just a little better on the out and back than her competition. It was close between the siblings for BOB but while she seemed to tire a little her brother was still firing on all cylinders so he got the nod. BCC, BOS.

2nd: 10258 AMSEL, Mrs J B & RISHWORTH, Ms Helen Ch Artmeis Raise The Stakes. The 3rd of the litter I had the pleasure of judging and so similar to 1 in all departments. Equally as soundly constructed, attractive in head qualities and also in optimum condition. She moved very well, as her construction suggested, but didn’t have the benefit of the extremely talented younger handler (no offence intended!!!) so couldn’t quite match the free, precise action of her sister who was moved at a slightly faster pace. Another top quality exhibit from this clever breeder who I’d happily sign a green card for.

3rd: 10269 LISTER, Miss H M Ch Revillo Campanella.

Class 1434 VB (2,1)

1st: 10254 AMSEL, Mrs J B Ch & Am Ch Artmeis Golden Oriole Of Regallust. Gorgeous 8yr old, Dam of both CC winners and looking every bit the champion and still a contender for top awards. Super for size, shape and outline, elegant with good topline and underline, good chest and ribbing, possibly the best shoulders of the day, straight front, strong fine bone and well muscled, well angulated rear. Beautiful feminine head with dark nose, bright eyes and neat ears. Moved with a sound, typical action maintaining her outline and she circled the ring. A veteran to be very proud of. BVIB.

Class 1436 GCB (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 10273 VAN ZYL, Ms Katie Rockiggy Ruby Tuesday For Brighthound. 4th in limit but was much more settled in this class and moved with a more accurate gait. In good condition with nice skin and coat, ample reach of neck, could stand straighter in front, strong fine bone, narrow chest and sound rear.
