Dalmatian
Thank you for the entry, the largest today in the Utility Group. Temperaments, as to be expected, were superb. We were afforded a good ring, with flat surface for me to be able to view movement to the full. I would like to thank my stewards, Hazel and Tom, who kept proceedings moving smoothly.
I did find that front angulation continues to be a watch out with many steep in shoulder with little return of upper arm. This in turn affects the front action, particularly in profile, giving them little reach in front and making gaiting appear an effort, which is a worry for a breed that is supposed to have endurance.
However, I was more than delighted with my winners, being sound and typical representatives of the breed, in my opinion, and today I found that the depth of quality was stronger in the girls.
Dogs
Minor Puppy
1: Anima Cordis Perfect Lover for Salvadorada (Ms K Wilkins), 8-month b/s who is well grown for his age. He has a decent expression and good pigmentation. Balanced in outline with a strong topline. Well spotted. Moved ok, just needs to settle on the out and back.
Puppy
1: Dalmark's Jubilations at Nospar (Mrs T Stocks), 9-month-old l/s with a very pleasing head and expression. Correct planes and ear set. Good pigment. Has the correct shape and is balanced in outline. Deep chested, decent bone and strong topline. He is balanced behind and has a super tail set and carriage. On the move he uses himself in profile, just needs to firm up going way, but a decent one. BP
2: Anima Cordis Perfect Lover for Salvadorada (Ms K Wilkins)
3: Hebemor Adonis Blue by Dakata (Mrs E & Miss T Wootton & Gardinor)
Junior
1: Sadiedel Let Ur Heart Decide JW (Miss N L & Mrs L E Moss), 15-month b/s of pleasing type and outline. He scores in front assembly and has a decent depth to chest. Would possibly prefer a little more elasticity in foot but he has enough spring of pastern. Pleases for expression and his head planes are good. Spotting excellent and he keeps his outline on the move. In good condition.
Yearling
1: Salvadorada Heads Will Roll JW (Ms K Wilkins), l/s all male and up to size. He was in super condition, being fit and well muscled. He is balanced in outline and has decent bone and feet. Well spotted, his coat is fine and supple. Move out ok, just could have a little more reach in front.
2: Kalsidoni Blue Gemstone JW (Mr A & Mrs M Cuthbertson), b/s who is going through the teenage stage at the moment and just needs to finish in body and rib. I preferred his head and expression, and he has a decent topline. Could possibly have a little more return of upper arm. The most endearing of temperaments and gave his handler a bit of a hard time.
Novice
1: Hebemor Adonis Blue by Dakata (Mrs E & Miss T Wootton & Gardinor), decent for size and he has a super temperament. He is a little heavily spotted, but the background is clear, and his coat is fine. A little proud of his tail, which sadly spoils his outline standing and on the move. I have to say he was in excellent condition.
Graduate
1: Nospar’s Drambuie JW (Mrs M & Mr G Pilgrim), l/s with decent spotting, well distributed on a clear background. I liked his expression, and he has decent pigmentation. Ok in front and has width and depth to chest. Strong in topline, his tail set is a tad high. Moved out well in profile, and on the right lines coming and going.
2: Steyndal Moon Stone among Phidgity (Miss Dk & Mr Jd Graham-Weall), b/s whose head and expression are good. He is well ribbed and has a strong topline. Lightly spotted but acceptable. He needs to develop in chest for advantage and was a little erratic on the out and back. Good pigmentation and coat fine and supple.
Post Graduate
1: Kelevra Chive Talking with Dalleaf JW (Miss S Baker), b/ s who won the class on reach of neck and front assembly. He pleases for type and size and is heavily spotted but acceptable. He has a decent head and expression with super pigmentation. Moved ok in profile and used himself to advantage.
2: Offordale Grenadier (Mrs J E Alexander), b/s who I preferred the spotting of. He has a very nice head shape and expression. He too is good for size, but I would just prefer more layback of shoulder which would help his reach of neck. Well ribbed and is super condition. He was a tad erratic coming towards me and just needs to settle.
3; Tolkain Caliban (Mrs E Wootton)
Limit
1: Olilou Heavenly Hamilton by Winflash (Mr I & Mrs K & Miss C & Mrs J Page & Page & Page & Howell), b/s who impresses very much on the move where he has a very easy stride. All male in outlook and heavier in spotting. He is well made, super feet and depth to chest. Strong topline and well set and carried tail.
2: O`malley Des Dalmats De La Pierre Sacree at Dalmark (Ms M Kembrey), liked this l/s for type and size, he pleases very much in head and expression. Decent outline and sound in profile. Has spring to pastern and used himself well. Close up
3: Alphadal Aint Misbehaving at Judally JW (Mrs J S & Mrs J A Green & Sears)
Open
Interesting class with the first two, although slightly different in type, are both fine examples and no doubt often change places, as they both have so much to offer, and it was simply down to judging on the day.
1: Ch Bleize De Montjuic at Winflash (Imp Usa) (Mr I & Mrs K & Miss C & Mrs J Page & Page & Page & Howell). This all-male b/s boy oozes type in outline and was in wonderful condition. He has an excellent front assembly which he uses on the move producing such a sound and effortless gait. He could easily go all day. His head is fabulous for planes and is not overdone in any way and he has a super expression. Totally balanced behind and well-muscled. He was handled superbly. Won the class today on precision coming towards me and he kept his outline at all times in profile. CC
2: Ch Sophtspot Gold Dust JW (Mrs J Christie). No stranger to me having judged him before. This l/s boy underlines the longevity of this breed as he belies his age. His head and expression are superb, and he is in the most wonderful condition. He too has a breathtaking outline and effortless action in profile. Handled superbly he just was a tiny bit erratic coming towards me and that tipped the balance. RCC, BV and BV in Group
3: Dalstorm Golden Guinea JW (Dr E & Mr W Sampson)
Special Beginners
1: Nospar’s Drambuie JW (Mrs M & Mr G Pilgrim)
Bitches
Minor Puppy
1; Makificate Wymondham Queen (Mrs K & Mr M Read), 6-month-old b/s of quality and potential. Delightful outline and in good condition. Heavily spotted but coat hard and sleek. Everything in the right place. Moved ok for her age.
2: Spotamour Pinata Perro (Miss S Money), 7-month b/s who is good for size and totally feminine. She too is in super condition, and she is well ribbed. She just needs to firm up on the out and back.
Puppy
1: Dalstorm Just Waltzing (Dr E & Mr W Sampson), 9-month l/s of obvious quality and style. She is a delight in outline and already a real show girl. Her head and expression are a delight. Well spotted, she flows from head to tail and really takes the eye. Moves out well in profile just needs to firm up on the out and back. Champion quality for sure.
2: Hebemor Careless Whisper from Dakata (Mr C & Mrs A E & Miss L & Miss T Healey & Healey & Wheaton & Gardinor), l/s 11 months and another who pleases for type, lightly spotted. Good forehand and strong in topline. Decent depth to chest and well-set tail. Decent on the move and she too has potential.
3: Salvadorada Just for Us (Ms K Wilkins)
Junior
1: Cubalibre Star Attraction (Mrs B Quayle), l/s and absolutely beautiful, she has everything in the right place. Her head planes are delightful, great forehand, deep chest, well ribbed, strong topline, and muscle tone. On the move she is breathtaking and will always take the eye. Her outline is a delight, and she flows from nose to tail. In the challenge she had a different handler, and she just lost her outline slightly when it mattered, by she is a definite title holder and some. RCC
2: Akoni Cherry Gala to Phidgity (Miss Dk & Mr Jd Graham-Weall), b/s good for size and feminine. Well spotted and in good condition, sympathetically handled.
Yearling
1: Cubalibre Wishing Star (Mrs B Quayle), another superb l/s who was gorgeous for type and beautiful to go over. Another with an exceptional outline, superb head and expression and a breathtaking profile action. She too should title with ease. Today, she just lost out in the challenge on the out and back where her age told a little.
2: Dallyador White Magnolia (Mrs H & Mr R.s Tingey), l/s of type, pleasing head and expression. Feminine in outlook, she just needs to drop in forechest, good in topline and well-set tail, lightly spotted but acceptable.
3: Hafwenna Valyria at Melectabee JW (Miss C Bradley)
Novice
1: Sophtspot Sugar Plum (Mrs J Christie). Oh my! Quite simply the superstar of the day. In she walked and I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. The b/s lady was all I was looking for and she did not disappoint on closer inspection. Her head and expression are divine, with superb pigmentation. She has a strong neck, firm topline and well set and carried tail. Her front is a delight, she is already well ribbed and is optimum body condition. Balanced behind with great muscle tone. On the move she just cannot be overlooked in profile, where she holds herself so well, keeps an outline and looks as if she could go all day. Still young yes, she still has to finish in parts, but to deny her because of her age would have been wrong. She was handled beautifully. BCC, BOB and was overjoyed to see her top the Group. Not the last we have heard of this young lady I have no doubt.
2: Sophtspot Sparkler at Nospar (Mrs T Stocks), very similar in type and I see they are litter sisters, this b/s has a lot going for her, she too has a classic outline and just needs to fill in chest. Has a future and will title, I’m sure. Just not quite the finish of her sister as yet.
3: Dalstorm Just So Salsa (Dr E & Mr W Sampson)
Graduate
1: Sadiedel's Arab Girl JW (Miss N Pace), b/s feminine in outlook and good for size and shape. Pleasing in expression. Moved out well.
2: Salvadorada Hopes N' Dreams (Ms K Wilkins), b/s slightly heavier in type and lighter in spotting. Strong in topline and in good condition
3: Dallyador White Snowflake at Macula (Dr J & Mrs S Stevenson)
Post Graduate
1: Carodal Jacobs Ladder (Mrs J & Mr W Tysterman), l/s good for size and type, pleasing in outline, has depth to chest and a strong topline. Very well spotted. Moved ok but could just do with a little more enthusiasm.
Limit
The largest class of the day and some really good bitches in it.
1: Ailsadot Astral Lyra (Mrs C Wallington). b/s of obvious quality and superb for type, delightful head and expression, well off for substance but totally feminine. Moved out precisely. In great condition. With the average amount of luck, she should be a title holder, her handler just needs to believe in her more.
2: Winflash Chanel Paris (Mr I, Mrs K & Miss C-L Page), b/s also of champion quality. Has a delightful outline and really eyecatching in profile, to go over there is very little to change, and she screams type. Beautifully handled, she just needed to settle on the out and back.
3: Offordale Santtini (Mrs J E Alexander)
Open
Wonderful class, chock full of quality bitches and it really was splitting hairs.
1: Ch Sophtspot La De Da at Belsmard ShCEx (Ms M White), another who was no stranger to me having judged her in group competition before. This delightful b/s screams type and is extremely stylish on the move, holding herself well and really using herself in profile. She will always take the eye and she will continue to win more; I have no doubt. She is super to go over and is also in optimum condition and beautifully handled. Today in the challenge she faltered going away and I preferred the heads on the 2 younger girls. However, she is a wonderful representative of the breed.
2: Ch Dvojica Chilli Chutney for Wrendragge JW (Dr W J E & Mrs J M Gardner), l/s of real quality and type who surprised me when I was told her age as she is another who has a youthful exuberance and outlook. Another who is a delight to go over, with everything being in the right place. Moved out well, holding her outline and has a super tail carriage. Very close up
3: Ch Dalpetro Dotty JW (Mrs R Lamb)
Veteran
1: Ch Buffrey Hanky Panky by Dalleaf JW (Mrs S-A & Miss S Neath-Duggan & Baker), 8-year-old b/s in super condition, and moved out well in profile, she presents a very pleasing outline and is well spotted.
2: Ch Dalpetro Diamond JW (Mrs R Lamb), b/s 8-year-old and another in good condition, moved out well and is feminine in outlook. Just not the reach in front of the winner.
3: Washakie Endless Summer (Mrs J E Dawson)
Good Citizen
1: Carodal Jacobs Ladder (Mrs J & Mr W Tysterman)
2: Kaytoni Isn’t She Lovely at Ailsadot (Mrs C Wallington), b/s who presents a pleasing picture stacked but was just a little erratic on the move today which spoilt her chances.
3: Hebemor Careless Whisper from Dakata (Mr C & Mrs A E & Miss L & Miss T Healey & Healey & Wheaton & Gardinor)
