Bournemouth Canine Association

Breed: Japanese Spitz

A fantastic entry with high quality all through. I was really excited about this appointment, and I was not disappointed! Type was good overall and, in general, construction was pleasing, though I would suggest that you need to maintain a focus on front angulation to avoid unnecessary high stepping in front. Head types varied a little and some had roundish eyes and overly deep stops which really spoils the typical expression. There were some truly fantastic adults here, but even more pleasing was the quality I found in the youngsters. Presentation was fab, some could have been schooled a little more on the move as it did hold them back from higher awards. It was encouraging to see some excellent young handlers who really showed of their exhibits to perfection – well done! A most enjoyable appointment. Thank you!

Puppy Dog (3,0) A nice class

1st: Smith’s Tawvale Fujio at Snowshoes. A super start to the day. Wedge-shaped head of correct width. Well defined stop. Black nose, tight lips and super pigmentation. Dark, oval eyes, which are set obliquely. Small, triangular ears. Very nice to go over with arched neck, very well-balanced angulation and great body proportions. Small round feet. High set tail. What coat he had was pristine and white. Super mover. Super presentation as always from this kennel. An exciting prospect indeed.

2nd: Cobb’s Camylaw Midnight. Another promising puppy. Masculine wedge-shaped head with very nice expression. Dark eyes and lovely earset. Arched neck. Moderate angulation fore and aft. Chest still to develop. Level topline. Perhaps a fraction long in body at present. High set, plumed tail. Should mature on well. Promising.

3rd: Turners’ Mayumi’s Limited Edition.

Junior Dog (4,1)

1st: Smith’s Snowshoes Joyful Sunstone. Wedge shaped head in proportion to body. Eyes ok for shape and set. Small, triangular high set ears. Good pigment throughout. Arched neck. Moderately laid shoulders. Upper arm could angle back a tad more. Just off square. Level topline. Chest developing well. Slightly more angulation at rear than front. Firm hocks. High set tail. Moved soundly.

2nd: Ferry’s Ferrybelle’s Pumpkin King. Looking more immature than 1st. Head is slightly more ‘pointy’ and narrow than the winner, but I have no doubt that as he matures, it will broaden and develop on along super lines. Charming expression. Arched neck. Moderate angulation fore and aft. Bit squarer in outline than 1st. Nice bone. High set tail. Small round feet. Sound on the move.

3rd: Turner’s Mayumi’s Rough Diamond

Limit Dog (1,0)

1st: Turner’s Mayumi’s Perfect Prince. Masculine wedge-shaped head with lovely dark, oval eyes, maybe just a tad level set. Cheeky expression! Great pigmentation. High set, triangular shaped ears. Arched neck. Nicely built with well-balanced angulation. Deep chest. Broad, muscular loins, Moderate turn of stifles. Hocks could have slightly more definition. High set, plumed tail. In excellent coat and condition. Needs to settle on the move, but he does move with a nice active stride when he wants to!

Open Dog (3,0) Lovely class

1st: Pittock’s Ch Cheechako Aurelius JW. Impressive, masculine dog with a super wedge-shaped head. Excellent oval shaped, dark eyes which are set obliquely to really enhance his wonderful expression. Lovely black pigmentation. Small, triangular well set ears. Arched neck. Well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Great bone and small, round feet. Deep chest of perfect width. Strong level topline. A tad long in loin, but they are firm and muscular. Good turn of stifles and strong, firm hocks. High set, plumed tail. Pristine white coat. Superb mover from all angles, but really scores in profile with a smooth action that was a joy to watch. Well presented. Super dog who has matured on so much since I last judged him. BD & BOB

2nd: Prout’s Ch Kessaku Bobby Dazzler. And dazzle he did! Another super dog. Smaller all through than 1st and perhaps not quite as masculine, but still scores so well with a lovely wedge-shaped head, defined stop and correct proportions of skull to muzzle. Just preferred expression of 1st. Lovey dark eyes & super pigmentation. Ears are small, triangular and well set. Medium length of neck which shows a slight arch. Moderate angulation fore and aft. Chest reaches to elbows. More compact type than 1st, but still just off square and completely standard fitting. Excellent high set, plumed tail. Super coat and condition. Super sound on the move. Splitting hairs, not quite the smoothness of 1st on the day. Top quality Champion. RBD

3rd: Turner’s Mayumi’s The One and Only

Special Beginners Dog/Bitch (1,0)

Dark oval eyes which are set obliquely. Correct stop. Lovely dark pigmentation. Small triangular ears. Super neck with slight arch. So lovely to go over with very well laid shoulders and return of upper arm. Super bone and small, round feet. Just enough length to body. Chest still developing. Firm loins. Well-turned stifles and nice definition of hocks. High set tail. Coat is obviously still to develop. Wonderful mover. Superb, sympathetic and skilful presentation from her young handler. What a team! Must have a superb future. RBB, BP

Wonderful expression. Very nice make and shape all through and fab to go over. Strong topline. Superb coat and condition. High set, plumed tail. 3rd: Furse’s Loveliwithy Barbie Girl.

Junior Bitch (1,0)

1st: Prout’s Ferybelle’s Hocus Pocus For Kessaku.

Post Graduate Bitch (3,1)

1st: Turner’s Mayumi Gossip Girl. A very feminine girl with wedge-shaped head, dark oval eyes, small, well set ears and black pigmentation. Really typical expression. Liked her for size. Slight arch to neck. Moderate angulation of shoulders. Upper arm just a tad short and straight. Deep chest. Slightly longer than tall. Broad, muscular loins. Moderate tune of stifles and firm hocks. Slight yellow tinge in some parts of the coat. Moves soundly, but with a rather high stepping action in front.

2nd: Hough’s Cavitzs Summer Nights. Rather heavy in the head and lacks the typical wedge shape. Her eyes, though dark in colour, are rather round which spoils the overall expression. Ears are quite wide set. Neck shows a slight arch. Moderate angulation of shoulders. Upper arm returns well. Firm topline. Deep chest. Broad loins. Well angulated stifles and firm hocks, High set, plumed tail. Moves very soundly.

Limit Bitch (5,0)

1st: Fraser’s Tawvale Lola. Last judged this bitch at the Club Open Show in March 23. She has really matured on nicely. Really pretty wedge-shaped head. Lovely dark oval eyes which are set obliquely. Small, triangular ears. Slight arch to neck. Well angulated shoulders and return of upper arm. Could stand straighter in front. Ok for bone and small, round feet, Little more daylight under her than some. Deep chest. Correct proportions of height to length. Well-turned stifles. High set tail. Moves soundly but could move out more.

2nd: Furse’s Loveliwithy Kiku Tsubaki. This bitch stands and moves so well that she captures your attention from the start. For me, her skull is slightly too domed and combined with a slightly short muzzle and roundish eyes she did not have such a typical expression as 1st. Her neck is slightly arched, and she is well angulated fore and aft. Deep chest. Bit squarer in outline than 1st. Well bent stifles. Well defined hocks. Well balanced. High set, plumed tail. Moves very soundly. Super white coat. Presented and handled in the highest order!

3rd: Turner’s Mayumi’s Lil Miss Dynamite

Open Bitch (5.0) A super class.

1st: Bambridge’s Ch Charney Fine Design at Tartiko. Last time I judged at the Club show I awarded this bitch 1st in Open and I wrote that I was sure that she had melted many hearts. Well, today, she made my heart flutter! Such an eye-catching bitch. Super feminine but with strength, correct wedge, and wonderful pigmentation. Lovely dark, oval eyes that are set obliquely. Well set, small ears. She has an expression to die for. Just beautiful. Neck is arched and flows smoothly into the best of shoulders. Good return of upper arm. Small, round feet. Excellent bone. Body slightly longer than height. Deep chest with ribs carried well back. Broad loins. Well-turned stifles. Firm hocks. High set, plumed tail. Super white coat. Superb mover from all angles. Loved her. BB

2nd: Fraser’s Tawvale Genki. Another nice one. Slightly higher on the leg which was emphasised as she was not in such good coat as the winner. Very attractive wedge-shaped head. Excellent eyes for shape, set and colour. Ears are small and well set. Dark pigment. Super expression – full of mischief! Nice in body which is well proportioned with good angulation fore and aft. Deep chest. Broad loins. Slight tuck up. Small round feet and good for bone. High set, plumed tail. Pristine condition. Just not moving out as well as the winner, though she is very sound indeed.

3rd: Ferry’s Ch Ferrybelle’s Take Cover JW. Another nice bitch.

Veteran Dog/Bitch (3,0)

1st Pittock’s Int Ch Ch Cheechako Kristofferson Shcm. A super standard fitting Champion boy when you go over him. Masculine with wedge shaped head and lovely dark oval eyes which are set obliquely. Small ears which are well set. Great angulation fore and aft and this shows in his super side gait. Slightly longer than tall. Broad loins. Great bone and feet. High set tail, plumed tail. Looks a picture on the stand and comes alive on the move. I’m sure he’s been a great ambassador for the breed. BV

2nd: Turner’s Glamglow’s All That Glitters at Mayumi. Pretty bitch of a very nice type. Liked her for size and her gorgeous expression. Very typical through the head with great wedge and ideal proportions of skull to muzzle. Well built all through and in lovely condition. Her coat was gleaming. High set, plumed tail. Moved soundly, but with a higher stepping action than 1st.
