It was a really hot day and quite a few dogs struggled with the heat, which I made allowances for. That said, to be honest, type and size was a little all over the place and it was very difficult to find consistency making it quite a challenging entry to judge. Construction needs to be watched. Some would have benefited from a lot more muscular condition which would have tightened up their movement.
Special Beginners D/B (2,0)
1st: Sharkey’s Jantonely Zingalong Baloo. Large dog. Head is strong and perhaps a bit overly heavy for my preference. A little bit cheeky. Eyes are medium size and oval showing no haw. Ok for make and shape with decent angulation. Firm topline. Good bone. Totally out of coat on the day. Sound in action.
2nd: Loxton’s Lionize Jenson Button. Rather heavy in skull and muzzle. Eyes are ok for shape and set. Ears set is correct. Good bone. Neck length ok. Preferred the proportions and angulation of this dog to 1st, but really did move to advantage on the day. Well presented.
Junior D/B (3,1)
1st: Cole’s Simden Born to Boogie. This bitch was much more what I was looking for. Well-proportioned head with dark mask and eyes are well set. Feminine and attentive to handler. Excellent neck flowing to well laid shoulders. Good return of upper arm. Decent bone for age. Deep chest with enough width. Back a tad soft. Well proportioned in body. Firm loins. Well bent stifles and firm hocks. Tail set on and carried correctly. Completely out of coat and hiding nothing. Super ground covering mover. I think she will have a great future when she matures. RBB
2nd: Page’s Pagency Megsul Tessa. An attractive bitch, smaller than 1st. Quite nice in head with ok proportions of skull to muzzle. Dark mask. Eyes ok for shape, set and colour. Ears ok for shape and set. Neck is medium in length. Well laid shoulder and upper arm angles back sufficiently. Good bone. Firm topline. Deep chest. Ribcage could be longer. Muscular loins. Rather upright in stifles which makes her a little unbalanced overall. Sound. In good coat.
Post Graduate Dog (5,2)
1st: Knight’s Morwinas Lysander. Overall, a very nice size. With nice outline. Head is masculine with strength. Equal length of skull and muzzle. Medium stop. Cheeks not overdone. Slight roman nose as desired. Dark mask. Eyes are medium size and oval in shape and dark brown in colour. No haw showing. Ears set on high. Strong neck flowing into very well laid shoulders, Excellent return of upper arm. Good bone. Correct body proportions. Chest reaches to elbows. Good width throughout. Strong topline. Firm muscular loins. Moderate slope to croup. Moderate turn of stifles and strong hocks. Tail set and carriage is good. Paced at first, but once settles showed an excellent flowing, ground covering gait and coped very well with the heat. Coat correct for colour. On the day, he was the closet to the breed standard for me and in great condition. BD, BOB.
2nd: Tratt’s Nexgen Apache Chief. Quite standard fitting. Heavier than 1st. Masculine head of correct proportions. Not quite the expression I was looking for. Eyes oval and dark brown in colour. Ears high set. Medium length of neck. Balanced in angulation fore and aft. Firm topline. Deep chest. Muscular loins. Tail set and carriage ok. Didn’t move to advantage on the day.
Limit Dog (2,0)
1st: Amesbury’s Morwinas Yggdrasil Nui. Masculine boy. Bit longer in muzzle than skull. Typical slight roman nose. Skull not too heavy. Dark mask. Eyes oval and dark in colour. Ears set on high. Medium length of neck. Excellent shoulder and return of upper arm. Well-proportioned body. Deep chest of correct width. Excellent topline. Broad, muscular loins. Well-turned stifles and strong firm hocks. Excellent tail set and carriage. Very lethargic on the move in the extreme heat and didn’t really display much ground coverage on the day.
2nd Sharkey’s Jantonely Zingalong Baloo.
Open Dog (2,1)
1st: Simpson’s Purple Rain Chico Valuer at Dacfolke (Imp Pol). Nice for size and was ok in head and expression. Dark oval eyes. High ear set. Medium length of neck. Moderate lay of shoulders. Upper arm angled back sufficiently. Great bone. Firm topline. Broad, muscular loins. Slight slope to croup. Quite straight in stifles and lacks definition at the hocks. Excessively black coat for me. Very sluggish on the move. Another suffering from the excessive heat on the day.
Post Graduate Bitch (2,0)
1st: Cleary’s Bennellieson Time In Motion. Very pretty head with equal length of skull and muzzle. Skull is well proportioned. Eyes are oval and darkish in colour and she has a super expression. Ears are high set, Neck a little short. Shoulders and upper arm could angle more. Good bone. Great body proportions. Deep chest. Broad loins. Moderate turn of stifles and quite well-defined hocks. Slight slope to croup and well set and carried tail. Moves very well indeed. Wasn’t too keen on me going over – needs to gain some confidence.
2nd: Amesbury’s Morwinas Ophelia. I felt this bitch was very in overall make and shape. Not so nice in head and expression as 1st. Medium length to neck and moderate angles throughout. Deep chest and good bone. Strong topline and muscular loins. Well set and carried tail. Nice coat, colour and condition. Moves soundly.
Limit Bitch (2,1)
1st: Simpson’s Simberger Perfect Blend JW. She is very attractive with well-proportioned skull to muzzle. Slight roman nose. She’s very feminine but I would like just a fraction more strength for my preference. Dark mask. Oval, dark eyes. Ears are high set. Medium length of neck. Medium angulation fore and aft. Chest ok for depth and ribs carried well back. Firm topline. Strong hocks. Moves soundly and precisely. Would just like a little more of her all over.
Open Bitch (4,2)
1st: Simpson’s Simberger Salata De Icre. For me this bitch stood away for breed type. Really typified the standard so well. Excellent head with great equal length of skull to muzzle and slight roman nose. Not too cheeky and not over done in anyway. Black mask. Dark oval eyes with great expression. Ears are high set. Excellent length of neck flowing into very well laid shoulders. Upper arm angles back enough. Lovely strength to bone. Deep chest of good width and ribs carried well back. Broad, muscular loins. Topline could be firmer. Slight slope to croup and well-turned stifles. Well defined hocks. Correct tail set and carriage. Correct colour and great coat condition. Super free, ground covering gait in profile, but moves a little close behind. BB.
2nd: Amesbury’s Prada Ikboy Du Domaine De La Noyaraye Avec Morwinas. Much more refined than the winner. Preferred the head planes and balance of 1st. Medium stop, dark mask. Slight roman nose. Muzzle for me is slightly overly ‘blunt’ at the tip. Eyes not quite the correct shape for my preference. Medium length of neck. Moderate angles for and aft. Bit squarer in outline. Deep chest. Level topline. Tail set and carriage ok. Moves soundly.
Veteran D/Bi (1,0)
1st: Darling’s Debbollinby Pepsi Max. Ok in head for proportions. Masculine with strength. Eyes a tad light in colour, but ok for shape. Ears are high set. Black mask. Balanced in angles and correct body proportions of height to length. Deep chest. Broad loins. Coat a little woolly. Slightly down in pasterns and didn’t move to advantage.
