Finnish Lapphund

What a lovely showground and well run show. I had a super day judging some lovely dogs. All were well presented with fantastic temperaments and an absolute credit to their owners. What a wonderful breed we have!

Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)

1st Allison’s Lahetyaby Joulukoriste by Oberitz. 8 months and developing along great lines. Most handsome head and expression with lovely eyes for shape and set. Medium size ears set well apart. Medium length of neck and moderate angulation fore and aft. Correct in body for age. Ok for bone. Puppy coat at present and excellent movement.

Puppy Dog (2,0)

1st: Whyman & Murray’s Lappviken Keltainen Manu. A very handsome dog. Tallish and mature for age. Masculine head with correct proportion of skull to muzzle. Dark eyes of excellent shape and set. Ears set well apart and well furred. Medium length to neck. Moderate angulation of shoulder and upper arm. Ok for bone. Firm, level topline with good strength through the loins. Moderate turn of stifle. High set tail which is held up on the move. In fantastic condition and certainly shows himself off well in the ring.

2nd: Allison’s Lahetyaby Joulukoriste by Oberitz.

3rd: Brache’s Elbereth Oreokeksi at Lappiness

Junior Dog (3,0)

1st: Meikle & Henderson’s Elbereth Etiainen at Lintukoto. This boy really caught my eye and pushed hard for higher honours here. I felt he was nice for overall size, make and shape. Very masculine head. Muzzle shorter than skull and tapers slightly. Dark pigment. Dark, oval eyes. Ears small and well set. Medium neck. Very nice angulation of shoulder and upper arm and has decent width of chest for age. Pasterns to firm up. Deep chest. Short, firm loins. Moderate turn of stifles. High set tail. In lovely coat of correct texture. Moves out soundly.

2nd: Whyman & Murray’s Lappviken Keltainen Manu.

Yearling Dog (2,0)

1st: Meikle & Henderson’s Elbereth Etiainen at Lintukoto.

2nd: Brache’s Elbereth Oreokeksi at Lappiness. Another handsome dog who didn’t really show himself off quite as well as the winner. Masculine head with typical expression. Moderate length of neck and quite nicely put together. Firm in topline and strong in loins. High set tail. Slightly erratic out and back, but quite smooth action in profile.

Post Graduate Dog (2,0)

1st: Daly’s Tabanyaruu Borealis Boo. Another masculine Lapphund with good bone. Eyes are of good shape but rather light in colour. Correct proportion of muzzle to skull. Small, well furred ears which are set well apart. Medium length of neck. Quite well angulated throughout. Deep chest. Maybe a tad short in foreleg. Strong loins. High set tail. Low set hocks. In good coat which was of the correct texture. Sound.

2nd: Bright’s Alkantara Talvi Kuu. No coat on the day and not hiding anything, I feel this is a very well proportioned boy with a most lovely nature. Masculine enough in head with nice expression. Correct proportion of muzzle to skull. Pigment ok for colour. Ears ok for shape and size. Neck medium in length. Very well angulated fore and aft. Would like a tad more bone for a boy. Lovely furry feet! High set tail. Moves soundly in profile.

Limit Dog (3,2)

1st: Oberitz Kaamoksen Ruhtinas. Alone here, but very deserving of his place. A top quality Lapphund. Masculine head with most wonderful expression. Dark oval eyes. Muzzle shorter than skull and slightly tapering. Medium sized ears , set well apart. Strong muscular neck. Excellent layback to shoulders and return of upper arm. Great bone. Deep chest. Well ribbed. Slightly longer than tall. Firm topline. Short, strong loins. Moderately bent stifles, low set hocks. High set tail held up on the move. Coat is of correct texture, but not in full coat which rather spoilt the overall outline on the day. Superb mover. Top class exhibit indeed.

Open Dog (2,0)

1st: Forsey’s Ch Arianrhod Black Sun Aeon at Muzoku. I gave this dog 1st the last time I judged him, where he pushed very hard for the high honours and he has certainly gone on to mature into a super quality exhibit indeed. I love his overall size. Wonderful masculine head. Gorgeous dark, oval eyes and super soft expression. Strong muzzle which is shorter than skull and tapers slightly to give the strength without looking blocky. Correct degree of stop. Super muscular neck. Excellent shoulders and upper arm returns to set forelegs well under him. Super bone and feet. Deep chest, well ribbed. Short muscular loins and strong loins. Moderate turn of stifles. Low set hocks. Tail held up on the move. Profuse coat. Excellent mover without being exaggerated. A super dog who really shone today. CC & BOB.

2nd: Samuel’s Oberitz Buoremus. A lovely dog for make and shape. Certainly, likes to let you know he is in the ring! Masculine and well-proportioned head. Dark, oval eyes. Well set ears. Strong neck. Moderate angulation all through and lovely strong bone. Deep chest. Short, muscular loins. Firm topline. High set tail and in great coat which is of the correct texture. Not moving his best on the day but was still super sound.

Veteran Dog (2,0)

1st Samuels’s Obertitz Upponalle. Hard to believe this dog is a veteran. Looking stunning today. Such a lovely masculine head with correct amount of stop. His muzzle is shorter than the skull and it tapers slightly. Eyes are oval and colour tones with coat. Ears are of medium size, set well apart and well furred. Lovely medium length of neck. Super angulation fore and aft. Deep chest of correct width. Well ribbed. Strong loins. Well bent stifles and low set hocks. High set tail, carried up on the move. Lacking a bit of undercoat but the top coat is of excellent texture and quality. Moved so well with a lovely stride. Well-deserved RCC. BV

2nd: Woollard’s Ch Infindigo Lintu Miika. Another super dog of really lovely size, make and shape. Masculine head with soft expression. Dark eyes, medium sized ears which are set well apart. Neck ok for length. Moderate angulation fore and aft. Deep chest. Ok for bone. Little down in pasterns. Firm topline. Strong loins. Tail high set. Would like a shade more definition at the hocks. Nice side action. Little close behind. Great coat texture and presentation.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2,1)

Medium size ears which are set well apart and well furred and very mobile. Super neck. Beautiful body for overall balance. Super shoulders and upper arm. Nice degree of bone for age. Chest developing well. Firm topline and strong loins. Moderate turn of stifles and low set hocks, which are firm and strong. Profusely coated tail which she holds up on the move. What a prospect this girl is. Super gait. Could not deny her the RCC today. Fabulous. BP

Ears well set and medium in size. Great shoulders and upper arm. Looking a bit heavy in chest on the day. Could perhaps be a tad higher in foreleg. Strong topline and loins. Moderate turn of stifles. Low set hocks. High set tail. Great feet. Super coat. Moved soundly. So well presented.

2nd: Woollard’s Infindigo Onnekas Kielo. Not such good expression as 1st but her head is well proportioned and feminine. Moderate stop. Eyes are oval in shape and dark in colour. Open Bitch (2,0)

2 super bitches

1st: Anderson & Nardone’s Ch Limishka Kareitar. JW. I first judged this bitch at ‘Spitz in the Park’ as a real baby after Covid, and I could see she would be destined for high honours. Such an attractive bitch with the correct degree of femininity and strength. Super expressive eyes which are of a wonderful shape and tone with coat colour. Broad skull and nice depth and width to muzzle which also tapers slightly. Medium sized, well- spaced ears that are well furred. Medium length to neck which is well muscled and set into nicely angulated shoulders. Good return to upper arm. Lovely bone and pasterns. Strong, level topline. Firm loins. Moderate turn of stifles and low set hocks. High set tail. Correct coat texture. A picture of lovely balanced, unexaggerated movement but still covering the ground in a typical fashion. Looked magnificent here and had no hesitation in awarding her the CC.

2nd: Moore’s Ch Morval Salainen Haave JW. One of my favourites. Such a super bitch for type. Broad skull, correct ratio of muzzle to skull. Lovely dark, oval eyes and gorgeous soft expression. Lovely neck and super construction. Great bone. I like her for size. Firm, level topline. A tad long in loin. High set tail. Looking so out of coat on the day which just impacted on the overall impression. Such a fantastic mover in profile. Wonderful temperament. Such a lovely girl and so worthy of her many wins.
