Breed: Scottish Terrier

I must apologise for the lateness of my critique – I have been troubled by a number of health issues since the show. My thanks to my stewards, who very efficiently ran my classes.

Special Beginners 1. Bodman’s Severus Snape. Masculine black dog with a strong head. Good chest and muscular hindquarters. Good coat. Moved well both ways 2. Webster’s Eimahans’ Phantom Menace of Pepilarue. 10 months Well presented black. Balanced head with correct ear placement. Good harsh coat. Longer back than 1. Quite unsettled on the move

Puppy Dog 1. Norton’s Divadell Mighty Quinn 6 month black. Lovely short back with correct tail set. Lovely masculine head with well set ears. Well presented, harsh coat. Good balanced movement with strong drive. Reserve Best Dog 2. Webster’s Eimahans’ Phantom Menace of Pepilarue.

Postgraduate Dog 1. Broome’s Evingbriar War of the Roses. Well presented black with good harsh coat. Good bone. Correct brick head with well set ears. Well sprung rib. Lovely movement with a level topline that stayed on the moved. Unlucky to meet the puppy in the challenge – I just prefer the length of back of the puppy. 2. Bodman’s Severus Snape.

Open Dog 1. Norton’s Divadell’s Charging Bear. Handsome brindle presented with an excellent harsh coat. Lovely masculine head with well placed ears and dark eye. Smooth neck leading into a nice short back. Good shoulders and muscular hindquarters. Nice reach and drive on the move, but could have held his tail better on the move. Best of Breed. 2. Bodman’s Severus Snape.

Veteran 1. Broome’s Liroda Midnight Kiss at Evingbriar. 9 year old black presented beautifully. Lovely feminine head with correct dark eye. Correct shoulder and good rear angulation. A bit longer than I prefer. Level topline and excellent movement with drive from behind. Best Bitch and pressed the dog hard for Best of Breed. I was pleased to see her placed 2nd in the Veteran Group. 2. Webster’s Glengracie Miss Mercury of Pepilarue. 7 year old wheaten. Long head with dark eye and brown nose. Level topline. Good hind quarters. Carrying a bit more weight than I like. Did not want to move beyond a slow pace for her handler so difficult to assess her movement.

Puppy Bitch 1. Norton’s Divadell Harleyquinn 6 month old black. Lovely outline with level topline and good tail set. Nice short back with good angulation front and back. Lovely harsh coat on a young puppy. Movement was lovely with strong drive. She showed herself beautifully at what I believe was her first championship show. Pleased to give her Best Puppy. 2. Redfern’s Eimahan’s A New Hope. 10 month old black. Long head with dark eye and good ear placement. Very low to ground. Front narrower than I would like. Level topline held on the move. Preferred the movement of 1.

Postgraduate Bitch 1. Clarke’s Kammondale Winter Soldier. Wheaten with an excellent harsh coat. A bit taller than I like. Lovely long head with good ear set, brown nose. Good movement

Open Bitch 1. Norton’s Divadell River Song. Nice compact brindle with short coupling. Lovely feminine head leading into correct shoulders. Ears well placed and used to her advantage. Level topline. Strong hindquarters. She really powered round the ring. Coat was not it’s best today and nearly cost her the place. Reserve Best Bitch 2. Redfern’s Eimahans Leap of Faith. Black presented in beautiful condition. Long head with correct dark eye. Lovely reach in front, but unfortunately not matched in drive from behind. Ultimately I preferred the movement of the winner.
