Judges Critique
It was an honour to be invited to judge the IWSA Open Show, my thanks go to the members for their votes.
The day was superbly organised. My stewards Linda & Martin Esders kept the ring running like clockwork. Many thanks to them. Thanks, must also go to the secretary and her committee for a fabulous day and of course the exhibitors for their entries and for accepting my decisions with great sportsmanship.
When judging any breed there are breed characteristics that one looks for and I felt my winners all had the essential qualities I look for in an IWS. When considering the breeds purpose, it is worrying to see small feet on a number of exhibits.

1st - Foulby Firsty Ferret (Mrs P & Mrs A Willoughby & Williams) Although stood alone, a worthy winner. Pleased to award him RBD. A lot to like about this boy, maturing at just the right pace, pleasing head with good eye of correct colour. Strong neck into well placed shoulders, nicely developing barrel rib. Strong rear quarters with correct angulation and correct tail set. Moved out well, with drive. Correct coat texture with good colour, plenty of curls and ringlets. Presented in excellent condition. Well handled.

1st - Sh Ch Curlyco My Hot Rockstar (Mr J & Mrs A Hackett & Williams) Almost 7yr old boy and still every inch the showman. He clearly enjoys the show ring as his tail does not stop and the rapport with his handler is a pleasure to watch. Good, masculine head with good eye of correct colour, super front, strong neck into clean well laid shoulders, good depth of chest, adequate rib, deep loin leading to strong, well angulated rear quarters, which he used to full effect as he powered round the ring. Presented in good coat with crisp curl. Very pleased to award him BD, RBIS & BOS.

1st - Bogbairns Sweet Afton (Mr S & Mrs G McBurnie) 6mths super sweet baby! Exciting prospect and one I will follow with interest. Everything one would look for in an IWS, sweetest of expressions on a lovely feminine head, low set ears of good length. Strong, clean neck into good shoulder placement, nicely developing fore chest, with a good depth of chest for age, rib developing well, very good rear angulation. Lovely big feet, she moved like a dream for one so young. Coat coming through nicely with excellent texture to the curl. BPB & BPIS
2nd - Cairteila Look at Me Now (Mrs C Foody) 11mth feminine, balanced girl. Pleasing head, with low set ears. Strong neck, with adequate angles fore and aft. Good barrel rib already for age. Coat in natural condition with crisp curls and ringlets. Would prefer bigger feet.

1st - Sh Ch Stanegate Hey It's Bianca JW ShCEx OSW (Mr G, Mrs K & Miss Z Stirk) My notes say WOW! This girl has everything you want in an IWS. Feminine yet strong, stunning profile. The prettiest of heads. Low set, long ears. With strong clean lines throughout. Excellent angles fore and aft lending themselves to the most fluid powerful movement. She is a dream to watch. Even with her cheeky demeanour just pushing her handler, who gets the very best from her. Lovely big feet. Shown in excellent condition and presented to perfection with an excellent, natural coat with abundant crisp curls and ringlets. Very pleased to award her BB & BIS.
2nd - Famous Crowds Secret Parade at Mudlarks (Mr R & Mrs S Andrews) Another super pretty girl, super profile. Clean strong neck, well ribbed and shown in good hard condition. Excellent angles throughout. Well ribbed with good depth of chest. Her movement is excellent although her lack of enthusiasm in the challenge saw her just pipped for RBB.
3rd - Weemaes All About Eve (Mr F & Mrs J McCallum)
