My first time awarding CC’s in this wonderful breed and a huge thank you to the exhibitors for your entries. Thanks also goes to John and Louise my wonderful stewards who kept the ring ticking along. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the ring on a showground that I literally grew up on!

Puppy Dog (2 Entered, 0 Absent)

1. Hawksflight American Jazz (Ms T Watkins) – 9 month old red dog who I couldn’t help smile at. I just loved his profile both standing and on the move, he held a lovely balanced outline with ample neck and good shoulders placement and excellent hind angulation. Lovely gentle but masculine expression with excellent dark nose and eye pigment and well set ears. Movement was excellent with the desired hackney front action. He has a hint of cheekiness and I couldn’t stop smiling at him. Whilst he was the only puppy entered he was of obviously quality. Best Puppy and was close up to the Yearling dog for the Res. CC.

1. Ch Hawksflight Hot Pursuit JW (Ms T & Miss J Watkins & Bugden) – what an absolute honour and a pleasure it was to judge this fabulous boy. He is the epitome of the breed characteristics with a fabulous hackney action, he is absolutely fearless and shows great self- possession and is proud and alert as he struts his stuff round the ring. His head is of the correct proportions with fantastic dark eye and nose pigment and with a good shape to his eyes. Strong neck of correct proportions and good fit into his correctly placed shoulders. Good spring of rib and gentle tuck up with excellent body proportions. He moves round the ring with great presence showing a lovely outline with his head held high and precise hackney action. My notes say everything this boy is about is moderation, except for his personality! I couldn’t deny him the CC and he and the Bitch gave me a tough decision for BoB which today he won. I was thrilled to watch him get 2nd in a very strong Toy Group. Thank you for the opportunity to judge him.

2. Charpin Ottomatic JW (Miss C Westerman) – very smart 2 ½ year old black and tan who has a lovely masculine head and expression with well-placed ears and dark nose and eye pigment. Loved his overall size and shape and had a good depth of chest and excellent shoulder placement. Nicely developed body with a moderate tuck up and good sweep of stifle and lovely bone for his size. Moved out well with a nice gait and showing lift in the front action. Shown in lovely coat and condition, he is a boy that is full of attitude and presence, and I called back in for further consideration.

Veteran Dog (1,0)

1. Ch Jaegerson Dress to Impress JW (Ms S James) - it was a great pleasure to judge this lovely black and tan again, 8 years old and thoroughly enjoying his day in the sun. As always he is shown in fabulous condition. I love his head and expression with excellent earset and he has lovely dark eye and nose pigment. A lovely arch of neck with good shoulder placement and he has a lovely depth of chest. Moves round the ring with plenty of drive from his well-muscled hind quarters. Delighted to award him Best Veteran and pleased to see he went onto Veteran Group 3.
