Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club Of Great Britain
Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of GB Championship Show
October 20th
To be elected to judge by the Members for your own breed is indeed an honour and I was very much looking forward to this appointment, thanks to all who supported the Club by entering their dogs. The Committee and all who helped should be pleased to see that their hard work paid off as the show appeared to run well. I think a larger ring would have been an advantage, however we were sharing the hall with another breed; most coped well with the acoustics of the venue but a few were unsettled. Whilst I tend to block out what is happening outside of the ring I was aware of applause for the class winners which I am sure was appreciated. My thanks to the stewards (Gavin & Sandy) for their assistance in keeping the ring running smoothly.
I was pleased with the overall quality of the entry, on this occasion the bitches were stronger than the males. It was good to see baby puppies enjoying themselves and I hope the new exhibitors continue with their show career. Presentation was reasonably uniform and I was pleased to see that in the main no coats were over stylised, wheatens should be overall moderate and unexaggerated. I think that we are losing bigger teeth and rear movement needs to be watched.
Baby Puppy Dog (4.0)
1. Gale’s Calvenace Shake Your Groove. Masculine head, nice dark eye, medium sized ears. Good reach of neck, proportionate body, sufficient angulation. Nice coat colour. Moved as one would expect of a youngster, tested his handler’s skills!
2. Jutting’s Janeyjimjams Jinja Zinga. Similar comments apply, lots to like, preferred ear size of 1.
3. Steven’s Crofftysofty Bee Brave. Another nice youngster, good tail set, needs to settle on the move which will come in time.
Baby Puppy Bitch (3.0)
1. Fallon’s Crofftysofty Bee Yonce. Very feminine puppy, pretty head with dark eye and pigment. Used ears to advantage. Animated on the move, sometimes a tad high stepping due to watching handler, this will settle with age. Good coat in colour and texture. Best Baby Puppy in Show.
2. John’s Dohoci Cariad. Finer in body, coat coming through nicely, good reach of neck, preferred rear of 1.
3. Cooper’s Janeyjimjams Jinja Rogers. Another feminine puppy, coat of good colour, movement will settle.
Veteran Dog (4.0)
1. Dowdy’s Ch Greentree Gold Mombo to Denzilly (Imp USA) One I have awarded a CC to before and although 8 years old he is as good now, if not better than when I last judged him. Straight front, level topline, good angulation. Masculine unexaggerated head, scissor bite, small well set ears which he used to advantage, well set tail which never stops wagging. The complete package topped off with a coat of correct wheaten colour and wave. Moved straight with reach and drive, flowed round the ring. Well deserved BV, BVIS, DCC, BIS! Congratulations.
2. Patterson’s Ch Snowmeadow Saul’s Symphony to Gavleash. 7 year old male, paler in coat colour than 1, with good texture. Good pigmentation, strong head, sufficient angulation, would have preferred a bit more enthusiasm on the move.
3. Tilley’s Janeyjimjams Jubilee Star at Starzak VW. 9 year old male with a good head, nice coat texture, level topline.
Special Vintage Dog (3.0)
1. Blandford’s Ch Janeyjimjams Joshua. Coat of good colour, texture and wave, self coloured ears. Good head, nice bite. Straight front, moved with animation and drive.
2. Fallon’s Ch Janeyjimjams Jenson JW ShCM. At 14 years old this male still retains many nice breed attributes and is a credit to his owner and breeder.
3. Bristow’s Denzilly Sweet Destiny for Avard ShCM. Unlucky to meet the first two in this class. Good head, dark eye, squarely built. Soft coat but preferred the colouring of 1&2.

Limit Bitch ( 12.2)
By far the best class of the day, some nice girls had to go unplaced.
1. Munn’s Snowmeadow Treacle Toffee. This bitch stood out for me in this class, unexaggerated but so feminine. Beautiful head, super pigment. Her crowning glory is her coat, soft, correct colour and waves. Lovely head, proportionate build, good front, well laid back shoulders. Daisy cutting movement completed the picture. BCC, RBIS, BOS.

Champion Bitch (2.2)
1. Munn’s CH Snowmeadow Suzy Sixpence. Unexaggerated, proportionate bitch with a straight front, level topline held on the move. Pretty head, good pigment. Nice tail set and carriage, moved with reach and drive.
2. Paton’s CH Denzilly Raspberry Beret. Pretty head, dark eye, well set ears, good coat. Reach of neck led to level topline. Economical in her movement, not giving her all today.
