Breed: Large Munsterlander

Darlington Championship Show Large Munsterlander 14th September 2024

As always a joy to judge the breed. All exhibits were shown in good coat and condition. On the whole bites were good.  Many exhibits looked wonderful when stood but disappointed on the move, most prevalent in rear movement which sadly excluded them from the main placings.  As always thank you to the 2 stewards for all their time and efforts in keeping the ring running smoothly.

VD (1,0) 1st POWELL, Ms Jan & MURRELL, Mr Anthony Sh Ch Crumpsbrook Woodrush 7 yrs.  What a super start to the day, a lovely veteran in superb condition and coat.   Liked his square shape.  Strong in the neck which flowed to his typical high withers, good length of upper arm and well laid shoulders, ribs well back and short coupled.  Good tail set.  Nice on the move, especially his side gait.  Very pleased to award him DCC and BV.  Just pipped by the bitch for BOB but it was a close decision. PD (0) JD (1,0) 1st LOGIE, Miss Erin & BRAIDWOOD, Mrs Fiona Graf Iii Vom Busshof At Albadhu (Imp) 13mths and at the leggy stage, liked his dark eye, neck and height at his withers.  Chest still needs to drop but will come as he matures. Ribs well back with a strong loin. Loose on the move but expected for his age. PGD (0) LD (1,0) WEBB, Mrs Alison Albadhu Counting Stars 3yr lots to like about this compact dog, dark in the eye and rounded in the skull, prefer slightly less stop though.  Strong in the neck and withers.  Needs to be slightly deeper in the chest which would help his front construction which is just a little loose in the elbows.  Ribs well sprung and back.  Short coupled.  Good movement especially the side profile just a little loose out and back.  OD (2,1) LOGIE, Miss Erin & BRAIDWOOD, Mrs Fiona Sh Ch Albadhu Walk On The Wildside 3yr old.  One I have judged before, I commented I am sure he will have a good future and it is quite clear he has fulfilled it.  I like his bone and overall shape.  Strong in the neck, height to his withers leading to well laid shoulders and front angulation.  Deep in the chest with tighter elbows than some.  A little longer in the loin which did show on the move but made up for it with good front reach and a lovely side profile.  Not quite so strong in his rear movement, pleased to award him RCC. VB (2,0) 1st LOGIE, Miss Erin & BRAIDWOOD, Mrs Fiona Sh Ch Cindy Vom Hundsfeld At Albadhu (Imp) Deu Lovely 8 yr old compact veteran.  Belied her age. Lovely bone.  Beautiful head and dark eye.  Deep in the chest, well sprung ribs and short coupled.  Balanced front and rear angulation which she used well on the move. 2nd WARD, Mrs Heather Joyce Sh Ch Braccpoint Song Of The Wind For Gemlorien 7 yr less bone than the winner and a little longer in the loin.  Lovely head and neck.  Deep in the chest.  Not quite the angulation of the winner which showed on the move compared to 1st. PB (1,0) DARBY, Mr G T & Mrs J Crumpsbrook Anneke To Incadar 8 mth enjoying her time in the ring! A lighter boned bitch. Liked her head.  Nice side profile on the move but loose, as expected for a pup, out and back.   Just needs to mature all round from her ribs to spring and chest to drop. BP  JB (0) PGB (2,0)  2 very nice bitches of differing types, both with their qualities.1st MCLELLAN, Mr & Mrs D & S Raycris Fields Of Glory For Saranden  2yr a striking colour with lots of white which does catch your eye.  Lovely head and eye, good bone.  Balanced front and rear angulation which she used very well on the move with strong rear drive.  Her rear movement in particular was one of the best on the day.  Would prefer her to be more square in her body shape even for a bitch but there is so much to like about her I can see her having a strong future. Not surprised to see she is the daughter of the BOB.  2nd ROBINS, Mrs Lin Tarkanya Ritas Ruby With Destanli 2yr old Similar qualities to 1st and preferred her squareness.  Splitting hairs of these 2 bitches, it came down to movement but I expect to see her also doing well as she matures. LB (4,0) A difficult class with exhibits which looked good stood were let down on the move, in particular in the rear which ultimately decided the class order. 1st POWELL, Ms Jan & MURRELL, Mr Anthony Tureagh Crystal Cider 3 yr compact bitch, with good bone.  Liked her front and rear angulation which she used well on the move presenting a balance which others lacked.  Nice head, maybe slightly less white on it would be a preference.  Strong in the neck, good withers and deep chested.  I would prefer slightly less tuck up.  Feel she can still mature. 2nd EVANS, Mrs H J Tarkanya Sophies Sunflower 2 yr another compact bitch, less bone than 1st.  Nice in the head, neck and body.  Balanced front and rear angulation, good on the move, once again especially in the rear just not as strong as 1st.   OB (4,0) Another class similar to LB where movement, especially rear had a strong impact on the placings. There were exhibits which had done well under me before which sadly were not as strong as previously. 1st SUCHETT-KAYE, Dr Robert & OGLE, Mrs Christine Ch Raycris The Temptress – one I have judged before and my opinion has not changed. Presented in superb condition, well muscled, especially the strength in her second thigh.  I liked so much about her from her lovely head, dark eye, strength in neck, chest, ribs and loin.  Feminine but superb bone.   Good front and rear angulation which enabled reach and drive on the move, without a hint of closeness behind which others had.  Pleased to award her BCC and BOB.  Challenged hard for BOB by the DCC, but just went into another gear on the move when she needed it. 2nd  WILKINS, Miss Victoria Sh Ch Quilesta Simply Exquisite, 5yr smaller stature bitch with less bone than 1st, but very balanced.  Liked her squareness, short coupled and well sprung ribs.  Lovely head and dark eye.  Good angulation, just not as strong on the move compared to 1st.
