The Scottish Kennel Club October Championship Show 17/05/2024

 

I would like to thank the Scottish Kennel Club for inviting me to judge at their show. Also thank my stewards for managing the ring so efficiently, and to the exhibitors for giving me the opportunity to judge their dogs.

 

I have not commented individually on ridges or mouths as I found these acceptable

 

Puppy Dog (8,1)

 

1. Barnes, Mrs L & Miss K Diamondridge Dreadnought. Heavy framed puppy with good substance, well up to size. Strong head, good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, good infill, length of rib, strong loin, well angulated behind. He moved with purpose and has a long even stride.

 

2. Parsons, Priorpark’s Par The Course. Just six months old, so not as mature as winner. Lighter framed puppy, quite a fine head, with lovely, dark round eye, adequate length to neck would prefer better angled shoulder. Adequate length to body, well angulated behind. He moved straight coming and going and good reach and drive in profile.

 

Junior Dog (4,1)

 

1. Barker, Mrs Kate Delianza What’s Your Motive. Just a year old, this male has good head, correct dark round eye, adequate length to muzzle. Good length of neck and depth of chest. Level topline, good ribbing, balanced angulation. Moved well both in profile and coming and going.

 

2. Thomson, Miss G & Green Rottzridge Celtic Legend At Kotamury. Smaller type, more compact than winner, he has dark round eye with kind expression, would prefer more length in muzzle. Good reach of neck into well angled shoulders, good infill. Adequate length of ribbing. Moved out well, accurate coming and going.

 

Yearling Dog (2)

 

1. Thomson’s & Green’s Rottzridge Celtic Legend At Kotamury

 

2. Johnson’s Ungowa On The Road Again. 19 months old . Stronger in head than 1, would prefer more length to muzzle. Strong neck into straight shoulder placement, stands on well knuckled feet. He has adequate length of body to height ratio and well angulated behind. High tail carriage spoilt his profile. Moved well.

 

Graduate Dog (6,1)

 

2. Murray’s Kinabula’s Bojangles Of Dellared. Light wheaten male with a lovely head, dark round eye, good length of muzzle. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders. Deep chest with good infill. Excellent length of ribbing, would prefer a bit more width between pin bones. Nicely angulated behind. He moved true coming and going and in profile has an easy ground covering stride.

 

2. Dawson’s Priorpark Problem Solved. Red Wheaten strongly built dog. He’s well off for bone, has a good head of correct proportions with dark round eye. Well angulated front with good deep chest, good length and well angulated behind.

3. Muir’s Jimanns Ace Of Spades. Just a month off reaching 3 this dog stood out. He is a well balanced light wheaten male with handsome head, round dark eye with kind expression. Good reach of neck into excellent front assembly. He has the best of fronts with deep chest. Good length of ribbing and is strong over the loin. He has strength in rear angulation which allows him to move with an easy ground covering stride, with good reach and drive. DCC & BOB

 

2. Hodge’s Kxoxo I’m Old Fashioned For Colkeririn Jw. (Imp Fin). Lighter framed dog to 1, correct head proportions, dark round eye with kind expression. He has good length of neck into well angled shoulders. Adequate depth and infill to chest. Adequate length of ribbing and good hind angulation. He moved very well around the ring.

 

Open Dog (10,1)

 

1. Ashman’s Ch Patemeliann Red Tarka At Kitaarka Jw. A moderate Red wheaten dog, very well put together, nothing is overdone. He has a good head with lovely dark eye and a pleasing expression. Good reach of neck into well angled shoulders. Good infill and depth to chest. Well sprung ribs carried well back. He is well angulated behind, good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. A nicely constructed dog. Moved true coming and going. In profile he moves effortlessly covering the ground with reach and drive, holding a level topline. RCC

 

2. Farleigh’s Kinabula’s Jobs A Good Un. This male has a lovely head with kind expression, good length of neck into well placed shoulders. Chest is deep with plenty of heart room. Good length of rib, he is well angulated behind. He moved well but lacked hind impulsion.

 

Veteran Dog (2)

 

4. Muir’s Ch Saadani Show Off. Just over 7 years old this male has a handsome, masculine head of good proportions. Good reach of neck into straight shoulders. Adequate length to body, good hind angulation, well let down hocks. He is well off for bone and stands on excellent feet. Moved well maintaing a level topline.

 

2. Hall’s Matsushona Fire Opal Of Cynami. Strong head nice dark eye and strong muzzle. Good length of body. Would prefer less hind angulation and more strength behind. Lacked impulsion on the move.

 

Special Beginners Dog (3,1)

 

5. Zaho’s Vkloof Duke Lambo Galardo. 9 month old puppy with strong head, dark eye and good ear set. Strong neck, would prefer more width in front and depth of chest. Adequate length of ribbing and hind angulation. Movement today was erratic.

 

2. Bowers’s Celtic Lore’s Golden Archer At Lyonglen (Imp USA). 5 year old liver nosed dog. Masculine head with correct eye colour to match his coat. Strong neck , balanced front angulation, adequate depth of chest and length of ribbing. Lacked impulsion from hind movement.

7. Parson’s Priorpark Predicement. Light Wheaten bitch of six months, pretty, feminine head, correct shaped eye, good ear placement. Plenty of substance for a puppy, good reach of neck into well angled shoulders, good length of ribbing, nice strong quarters. Moved well.

 

2. Rossiter’s Sonstraal Blue Moon. Another very nice puppy. Liver nosed, with eye colour matching her coat. Feminine head, neck of good length. She has a good front with depth. Ribs extend well back, nicely angulated behind. Moved well.

 

Junior Bitch. (8,2)

 

8. Parson’s Priorpark Proof In Pudding. Just six months old this bitch has a lovely feminine head, dark round eye. Adequate length of neck into well placed shoulders. For her age she has good width and depth of chest and is well proportioned. Good rear angulation. A very well schooled puppy and was shown to produce her best. Moved very well. BP

 

2. Ritchie’s Jimanns Hell On Heels. I really liked this bitch but she did not show to her best today and is carrying too much condition which spoilt her outline. She has a lovely feminine head of good proportions, dark round eye and good ear set. Balanced lay of shoulder, nice deep chest, good length to body and well angulated behind. Profile movement was spoilt due to being aggravated by her lead.

9. Parson’s Priorpark Proud As Punch Jw. 20 month old bitch of good substance. Feminine head, round dark eye with kind expression. A well proportioned bitch, good length of neck into well angled shoulders. Good depth of chest with ample infill. Good height to length ratio. Nice rear angulation. Movement was true coming and going. RCC

 

2. Nolan’s Priorpark Pucker Up For Rumialana. Liver nosed bitch, pretty head with correct colour eye matching her liver coat. She hasn’t the substance of 1. Adequate angulation front and rear. Would prefer more infill of chest. Moved well.

10. Jolly’s Negasi Elberith For Clanbruachan. Jw. Pretty, feminine head with kind expression. Good length of neck into well angled shoulders. Good width and depth of chest. Nicely proportioned body with good length of ribbing. Her angulation is good behind. Stands on very good feet. Moved well with good reach and drive.

 

2. Willunat’s Gambia Sirius Canis Maior At Clauwill (Imp Pol) Jw. Smaller bitch to 1 and more compact. She has a pretty head, would prefer a darker eye. She has well angled shoulders, adequate depth to chest and length of ribbing. She has good hind angulation. Moved well.

11. Mansfield’s Shingwidsi Tshedisa Light. Light wheaten bitch with feminine head and kind expression, with dark round eye. Good reach of neck into well placed shoulders. Adequate depth and infill of chest. She has good length of body and good angulation behind. Stands on well knuckled feet. She moved freely around the ring and held her topline.

 

2. Mcintosh’s Benicloujam Lola Of Chagall. Not as rangy as 1, but she’s a nicely constructed bitch. She has a pretty head with dark eye to match her coat. Good front angulation, length of ribbing. She has good angulation behind. Moved well.

12. Fareligh’s Kinabula’s Coco Melon. 2yrs and 6months old. Lovely rangy, balanced, light wheaten bitch, that fills the eye. She has a beautiful head with the kindest expression, correct dark round eye. Good length of neck into good front angulation. Correct width and depth of chest. Ribs extend well back. Good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. She was the best mover in the class, true coming and going, great reach and drive in profile maintaining a level topline. BCC

 

2. Parson’s Ch Priorpark Pot Kettle Black Jw. Another lovely bitch just carrying a bit too much weight today which spoilt her outline. Lovely head of good proportions. She has plenty of substance, good angulation front and rear. Good forechest, nice depth and length to body. She too is a very good mover, precise fore and aft, and has a long easy stride showing reach and drive.

13. Mansfield’s & Kirby Ch. Tshadi Rose. 10 years old and still very balanced and not showing her age. Pretty, feminine head with dark round expressive eye. Clean neck, good lay of shoulder, deep chest, well ribbed back with good hind angulation. She moved freely around the ring holding her topline. BV

 

2. Nicholl’s Jimanns Gettin Jiggy With It. Rangy 7 yr old and dam of BOB. Pretty head with gentle expression. Clean neck, balanced front, good length in body. Nice rear angulation. She too is balanced which allows her to move freely keeping a level topline.

 

Special Beginners. (5,2)

 

14. Nolan’s Pearl of Wisdom For Rumialana. Just 6 months. Nice head of good proportions. Nice reach of neck and shoulder angulation. Good depth and shape to her body, adequate hind angulation. She is well off for bone. Moved well showing reach and drive.

 

2. Willoughby’s Kazembe Cult Classic. 17 months. Pretty head, correct eye with kind expression. Good length of neck and front angulation. Nice depth of chest and infill. Good length of body. Would prefer more strength in hind quarters.

1. Darling Steele’s Saadani Storm Catcher With Sharufa. Just 6 years old she has a feminine head with dark muzzle and kind expression. Good reach of neck into straight front. Adequate infill to chest. Good length of ribbing. Well off for hind angulation. She moved well.
