Glen of Imaal Terrier Enthusiasts & Fanciers Club

I was honoured to be asked to judge the first EFG Championship Show which was also my first CC appointment. I have owned and handled Glen of Imaal terriers for 28 years, having bred and shown West Highland White Terriers and Rottweilers previously . On the whole handling has improved in the breed but I do think everyone would benefit from being filmed while showing. I was surprised to see some poor mouths. Please also pay attention to the length of your dogs nails, a few of the exhibits still show some “lockdown” weight issues. Thank you all for your entries.

Class 1, Puppy Dog

1st Alton, Orchard Burrow Oakley

10 months, good mouth, nice medium eye, good stop. Moved well when settled. BP

2nd Jennings, Slievenbrehan Norman

6.5 months, correct mouth with good big teeth, nice dark eye, good coat, needs time to mature and settle in the ring.

Class 2, Junior Dog

1st Jennings, Romainville Kiefer

15 months, Scissor bite with good strong teeth, dark eye, strong foreface and shoulders, moved well, good coat coming in.

2nd Green, Borderglens Dougie Maclaen

16 months, good stop with nice round eye, nice neck and shoulders, level topline, Softer coat than 1. Once settled moved well.

Class 3, Postgraduate Dog

1st Bailey, Zippor Brendan

Nice type throughout, correct bite, eye good shape and colour. Strong neck with good strong shoulder. Deep well sprung rib well muscled. Well presented. Considered for the rcc

2nd Lilly & Reynard, Romainville Blue Indigo

Longer than 1, good head with dark eyes, once he settled down he moved well. Softer coat

Class 4, Limit Dog

1st Garner, Jeonty Murphy Shading Dark

Powerful jaw with correct bite, good dark medium eye, muscular neck that goes into good shoulders, moved with drive and a good turn of stifle. Good muscle tone. Does make his handler work. DCC & RBIS, BOS

2nd George, Romainville Rock It Ronnie

Good head with strong jaw. Good length of neck going into strong shoulders. Plenty of bone with well sprung ribs. Moved well with strong hindquarters. I look forward to seeing him with more coat.

Best mover in the class, Lovely head, with good expression overall good outline. strong coat coming in although too much feathers. RDCC

Preferred the head on 1, Scissor bite with large strong teeth, dark round eye, good profile. moved well good turn of stifle.

3rd Saletti & Saletti, Esp Ch World Heremon Bear At Jojase

9 year old who has a good mouth , correct eye colour and shape, strong topline with well placed tail. with good angulation. Moves well. BV

2nd Samuel, Jeonty Yippe Kiaye

Strong large teeth, nice eye. Moved well when settled did not make it easy for his handler.

Class 7, Puppy Bitch

1st George, Romainville Rock On Rosie

Nice type with correct mouth and large teeth, good shoulder, strong coat just needs more confidence in the ring. I look forward to seeing her mature. Pity she did not return for best puppy!!

2nd Alton, Weir Mead Susie

10 months, good mouth, softer coat needs time to settle on the move.

Slightly longer set than 2 Lovely head with dark round eye giving a lovely expression, Feminine with good bone. Well set tail. Good coat

Shorter than 1 but didn’t settle in the ring. Good head and expression, scissor bite, good coat and substance.

1st Hannington, Boudivella Rosie Jw

A powerful, feminine head with neat ears and a nice bite. robust neck, solid front, and solid back end support her topline. walked easily across the ring. She is exhibited and handled well. RBCC

2nd Saletti, Jojase Aisling Pixie

Shorter than 1, Nice head with dark eye, stands well in profile, took her time to settle on the moved but when she did she moved well

3rd Jennings, Ballyfoyle Knockalong Lady

This girl took my eye as soon as she entered the class. And did not disappoint when I went over her, scissor bite with large teeth; good stop strong fore face, good neck going into powerful shoulders. Deep chest with an excellent topline and correct tailset. Good hindquarters and nice bend of stifle. Lovely tight feet and short claws moved smoothly. BCC & BIS

2nd Roger Ch Jeonty Jyn A New Hope

Oldest in the class, did not make life easy for her handler. Good mouth and pretty head. Strong neck and shoulders, good rise and strong jacket coming in.
