LONDON BULLDOG SOCIETY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
14TH JANUARY 2024
A huge thank you to the Officers and Committee for this ‘stellar’ first appointment in your lovely breed. A super entry in both numbers and quality. There was a great atmosphere all day and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
VETERAN D/B (3,1)
1. RAGMARTE LILY PAD AT BLENHIEMSTAR. A good start here with both having many positives. Beginning to show her age but with no exaggeration I preferred the top-line and front action over another very good veteran in second spot.
2. BAALZEBUL VENUS. I absolutely loved the eye and expression of this 7-year-old a true Bulldog look! For me, however, there was just not quite the accuracy or fluidity in front action of the winner.
MINOR PUPPY DOG (12(2)
1. HADDAWAY THE BOSS FOR TYNEAMITE. Heading quite the most amazing class of minor puppies, this young dog pulled out all the stops to win. He has just the loveliest of balanced heads with a good mouth and under jaw and a mean expression which was quite mesmerising. He has real depth for his age and wonderful bone with a lovely front too. His tail is perfect as is his top-line and he’s a decent mover at this stage in his development. Pushed hard by the Bitch puppy, he just took the top spot of BPIS by the narrowest of margins. And must have an exciting career ahead of him.
2. BRITISH STYLE MR HOBBS. Here was another very exciting future prospect, pushing the winner all the way. Carrying enough weight, he too has a beautiful head and expression, masculine but not overdone in any way. His tail is clean and well set and he too moved to advantage for his age.
3. BAGIBELI NATTY BUMPPO.
PUPPY DOG (4)
1. AVAWORD TONTO. A clear winner in this class for me as he was by far the cleanest and most accurate of movers. He has a super head shape and dark eye, just showing his teeth a touch, which affects his expression. His outline is textbook.
2. ALBIONPRODE SOMEBODY NEW. I liked the make and shape of this youngster, but he was just a bit too un-co-ordinated on the move to really assess. When I could see, his top-line is strong and correct. I much preferred the tail of the winner.
3. IRONSPIRIT SAXON KING.
JUNIOR DOG (3,1)
1. BETTYZWORLD ROMAN HOLIDAY CHEZZASBULLY. I liked the breed type of this one, although he needs more body to fill the picture and of course has time on his side. I liked his expression; eye shape and colour and he has a good bite. I would like a touch more layback, but he moved soundly to win this class.
2. FUEGOROX SPLAT MY FIRE OPAL. A totally different type here, too rangy, and tall for me but nonetheless totally sound on the move holding a strong top-line with a good tail and an easy stride.
YEARLING DOG (3)
1. RUAKURI CHASING TIME. A clear winner here, a lovely breed type, super head shape with real balance all through. He moved like a dream with precision and style.
2. BLENHIEMSTAR’S LANCELOT OF JRAYGON. A stronger headed type to the winner but with good balance and very good bone. He took a bit of time to settle but once going showed himself to be sound and positive on the move. He was well-handled to maximise his potential.
3. HILLPLACE MASTERPIECE.
NOVICE DOG (2,1)
1. HILLPLACE COOL BLUE. He was VHC in the hotly contested and very strong minor puppy class and I am delighted to be able to critique him here. He has the same sire of the BPIS and it shows, for he too has a super head shape with an excellent expression. He moved so much better here in this class than he did earlier in the day, and I have no doubt that he will finish well as he everything to like in exactly the right place. He is another very strong good future prospect.
POST GRADUATE DOG (1)
1. ROSEBULLS RALPH. Standing alone but my notes simply say WOW!!! It’s not often that a dog makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, but this young dog has absolutely everything that I was looking for today and I knew that it would be hard to find another to surpass him. I think that his head and expression are textbook, his bite, his ears, his tail are the same. He has the perfect top-line, a lovely depth of brisket and superb bone. He moved with real accuracy, true precision, and style. There is absolutely nothing overdone about him, and I loved him. Quite a find, I thought, and I was delighted to award him the C.C. (his first) along with Res BIS and B.O.S. and I will watch his future career with real interest.
LIMIT DOG (5,2).
1. TESTWOOD TOTAL ECLIPSE. I really liked the breed type and honesty of this dog. There is nothing overdone, and he presents an excellent package stood and on the move. I really liked his masculine head with no hint of exaggeration and his expression appealed immensely too. He has excellent depth to his brisket, lovely width to his front and super body balance. He is compactly built with a great and typical top-line, and he moved to absolute advantage. I was pleased to award him the Res C.C.
2. KINLOCKBULLS CARTIER. Here was another very good one on the stack, presenting a true ‘mean’ Bulldog expression, with super ears, great strength up front and a lovely outline. On the move he was not quite so co-ordinated as the winner and had to settle for runner up here.
3. CHEZZASBULLY MOUNTBATTEN.
OPEN DOG (4)
1. CH HADDAWAY HEY BULLDOG. I see that this handsome dog sired the BPIS and two others of the placed puppies in the Minor Puppy Dog class and I delighted to see that he is stamping his quality on his progeny. He was a clear winner in this class, standing out for his great head and expression, ears, top-line, and body balance. He impressed me greatly on the stack. He didn’t however make the most of himself on the move today and subsequently paid the price in the challenge for top honours.
2. BAALZEBUL CUPID’S BEAU. A decent head and eye to this dog who was well-bodied with a correct top-line. He didn’t have quite the fore-chest or ring presence of the winner and he needs to sort out his front action on the move.
3. BLENHIEMSTAR’S TALIESAN OF JRAYGON.
MINOR PUPPY BITCH (11.4)
1. AVAWORD GWENNO. This baby has a wonderfully feminine head and a wicked expression with good depth to fore-chest and a lovely front assembly. She is balanced throughout and quite mature for her age. She holds a good outline in profile with the correct top-line and I liked her feet, but I did feel that her tail could be better.
2. LAROYAL’S BLURRED LINES. Here was another very exciting future prospect with an equally good head and expression. She wasn’t quite so exuberant nor as compact as the winner, but she is totally sound on the move in all directions and is another whose future I shall watch with interest. I liked her a lot.
3. FORTIS HIGH HORSE LADY AT BLENHIEMSTAR.
PUPPY BITCH (7,1).
1. TREASURABULL’S BAD GUY. I really fell for this gorgeous puppy; she encapsulates the true Bulldog spirit for me. She is totally feminine with a wonderful head and expression is totally balanced, quite mature for her age and she has a very correct top-line and a good tail and set. She moved really well here, in all directions to take this good class and pushed the Best puppy Dog hard but just lost out on the final run around. I was really pleased to make her Best Puppy Bitch and Reserve BPIS. I predict a very rosy future for her and will follow her career with real interest.
2. ROSEBULL’S SASSY SATINE FOR BOYATTBULL. Here was another really good one with an equally lovely true Bulldog expression. She has good width and depth to her front with good bone. I liked her correct top-line, and she has a good tail and tail-set. She just lost out on accuracy in front movement to the winner.
3. RICATORI WILD POWERS ROSEBULL.
JUNIOR BITCH (3)
1. KINGLOCKBULLS CHOPARD. She was a clear winner for me scoring in overall balance, top-line, and her compact shape. She moved with true precision and style.
2. RAGMARTE DAIQUIRI AT PECTUS. I really liked the ‘sour’ expression of this one, and she is also compact with a good front assembly. She moved Ok but could not match the tail of the winner.
3. BLACKSAILS TEARS IN HEAVEN.
YEARLING BITCH (2)
1. TESTWOOD HIPPY CHICK FOR BOYATTBULL. A super breed type and lovely balance to this juvenile. She scores in head and expression and has an excellent front with great depth to her brisket. I would prefer a slightly better top-line and a less tight tail. She out-moved the competition to take this class.
2. ASHARLO MILLION DOLLAR BABY. She was good to go over, if a different head type which still appealed with a good ‘mean’ expression. She held a decent top-line but could not match the rear action of the winner today.
NOVICE BITCH (6,1)
1. BLENHIEMSTAR WHAT CAN I SAY. Not the most over-enthusiastic of movers but she is sound. I liked her head and really liked her expression. She makes a good shape on the stack and holds a decent top-line in profile action. She has a good tail and set.
2. ROYALTUDOR OUR LADY MARIE. Reserve in the strong Puppy class, she moved much better her as she had settled into her day. She is a good type with a decent front and good fore-chest. Well-bodied and well-muscled she presented a good picture.
3. LAROYAL’S BLURRED LINES.
UNDERGRADUATE BITCH (3)
1. BOHEMIAPRIDE LUCKY GIRL. I really liked the excellent front assembly and perfect tail of this winner. She has a good head shape with tight and clean eyes and is compactly built. She moved well, particularly in front compared to the second in the class but I would prefer just a touch more to her top-line.
2. AVAWORD TARA. Another good one, classically balanced also with a good tail. She scored more for her top-line than the winner but was throwing her front coming towards me which cost her the class.
3. EDSTRONG MAGGIE MAY.
POST GRADUATE BITCH (8,2)
1. TERLINGFAIR IT MUST BE LOVE AT ALLARNICE. This bitch head a mixed and disappointing class which she won with some to spare. I liked her head shape and expression. She has good width to her front, is balanced and compactly put together with a good top-line and a good tail and tail-set. She moved with accuracy.
2. AWAWORD CHERRY. A stronger head type here which didn’t appeal quite as much. I liked her front, width, and depth to brisket. She has a strong and correct top-line. Her tail and movement could be better.
3. EDDSTRONG MAGGIES MAY.
LIMIT BITCH (8.2)
1. BELSTOCK THE GOOMAR. I thought this one quite a find and she took this class with ease. She never put a foot wrong. She scores in head and expression and is well-off for bone with a good front construction and an excellent top-line. She is totally balanced and has an excellent tail. Unlucky to meet the Open winner on such top form, she was so close to the major award, I was literally splitting hairs, but today she had to settle for the Reserve C.C. I am sure that she will title with deserved ease.
2. WILL BE BULL’S TOMORROWLAND. Another good one with many similar remarks applying. She has a lovely head and a correct top-line and moved out well enough but just not the tail of the winner.
3. HUNTTHORN LILY OF THE VALLEY……completing a trio of very good dogs.
OPEN BITCH (13,3)
1. RICATORI REFLECTIONS. Heading a super class, she never, ever put a foot wrong and looked as though she could continue moving all day long with true precision, scope, and style. I really liked her head, her expression, and her top-line. She presents a picture of perfect balance, has good depth, lovely bone, good feet, and a correct tail. Pushed hard by the limit winner, she just never gave up in the challenge and I was delighted to award her the certificate, which I now know is her ‘Crowning’ C.C. & Best in Show. Many congratulations!
2. HADDAWAY DIZZY MISS LIZZY AT RATTRAY. I see that she is litter sister to the good Open Dog winner, and I see now why I liked her type. She has a super head shape and expression with a great front assembly and accuracy on the move. She appealed in many respects, but I just preferred the top-line and scope in profile of the one above today.
3. SHIPSHAPE YULETIDE MOON.
