Southern Counties Australian Terrier Club

First Championship Show – Special Award Classes

01 June 2024 - Newbury Showground

Judge – Joanne Grimes-Watson

Thank you to the Southern Counties Australian Terrier Club for inviting me to judge their Special Award Classes at their 1st Championship Show held at Newbury in conjunction with Southern Counties Canine Association Championship Show. My Steward, Marion Sargent, did an excellent job ensuring the smooth running of the ring, especially with some of the less experienced entries.

Special Award Classes

SAC Junior Dog/Bitch (3)

1. Lawler & Nottingham’s Bareve Top Hat N’tails 9 month old Dog.

Lovely puppy of good size and proportions with a good tail set, achieving a well balanced look. Correct sized and set ears producing a happy, alert, masculine expression. Straight front assembly, well sprung ribs and good turn of stifles resulting in strong drive. Correct coat.

2. Jones’ Icy Imany Von Den Grauen Anfurten at Wyeafon (Imp NLD) 10 month old Dog.

A smaller dog. Straight front assembly and level topline. Head not as strong as that of 1st placed dog but with correct ear set and alert expression. Tail set a little high detracting from the overall look. A little immature with time to grow on.

SAC Open Dog (3)

1. Willmett’s CH Wilfnbell Midnight Cowboy

Lovely red dog. Quality arched neck, good set ears and expression with a real Look At Me presence. Deep chest and strong front with good reach and powerful rear drive. Holding steady, straight topline on the move. Correct coat.

2. Jones’ Wyeafon Bolt From The Blue

Blue & tan dog with good, harsh coat. Strong head, dark eye, correct mouth, using ears well. Tail set not as good as 1st placed dog. Moving a little close behind. Carrying a bit of extra weight on the day, detracting from overall look.

SAC Open Bitch (6)

1. McCourt’s CH Silhill Angel Eyes

Well presented feminine red bitch. Lovely proportions with beautifully arched neck. In good coat. Loved her expression when she her fixed gaze on you. Moved out well with good drive behind. Great tail set. Elegant profile.

2. Jones’ CH Wyeafon Private Illusion

Lovely blue/tan bitch. Level topline, good front assembly with well put together hind quarters. Strong jaw with correct scissor bite. Small, cat-like feet. Keen expression with good dark eye. Moved well in front.
