Bitches
I felt extremely honoured to receive such a lovely entry – thank you very much; and I was absolutely delighted by the overall quality in almost every class as the majority of the bitches were new to me.
There were six bitches here today who I would have been delighted to award the CC. so some difficult decisions had to be made and I know those of you who missed out today your time will come.
There were also some younger bitches who certainly have the potential for future top honours and in saying this I feel we are very lucky to have some cracking bitches at the moment which bodes well for the future of our beautiful breed.
I don’t want to bring in a down side after saying the above, but please watch eye shape as a round slightly staring eye coupled with a shorter muzzle alter that gorgeous soft expression of the Pointer.
Another watch point is foot shape – the feet should be oval and not round (as in cat feet). A round foot usually causes a more upright pastern and the standard asks for slightly sloping which will give them the strength at the gallop.
I felt that overall tail carriage was much improved from the last time I judged
Many thanks to my two excellent Stewards, and of course thank you to the Committee for making me feel so welcome: it was a pleasure to Judge these beautiful bitches today.
Minor Puppy Bitch (5,1)
1st Gerrard, Bell & Galloway’s Riowood C’Mon Its Time for Carmandine at 6 months a total baby but beautifully collected standing and on the move with the correct tail carriage. Great depth of chest for her age definitely lots of potential. BPB just beaten for BP by the very mature puppy dog.
2nd Oddie’s Riowood Tick Tock Boom to Sharnphilly NAF TAF just beaten into second place by a whisker by her sister. Many of the above remarks apply as they are definitely out of the same pod and I am sure they will change places many times as they grow and develop. Today she was just not as forward on the move lacking the reach and drive of her sister.
3rd Preece & Greenwood’s Harvestslade Midnight Star
Puppy Bitch (6,2)
1st Bleathman’s Tolenas Peony Polly for Wynberry almost a year old and that extra maturity certainly showed in this class. Mature in body but a total pup in attitude – loving every moment in the lime light & giving her handler a difficult time. However, she managed to stand long enough to see her lovely lines. Softest of expressions and well-set neck an honest Puppy with nothing over exaggerated. In the challenge for BPB she decided it really was show time and never settled on the move.
2nd Radcliffe’s Sniperay Suite Note (AI) another lovely B/W puppy at the stage of development that she didn’t have the topline of the first, however, she has a lovely front with correct lengthy shoulders - showing plenty of reach on the move. Short coupled with a lovely balanced head.
3rd Brock’s Zolalin Better Together
Junior Bitch (8,0)
1st Anderson Rowell’s Wilchrimane Silent Sonnet at Daledancer this youngster has a lovely head – beautifully balanced with the darkest of eyes set on a long muscular neck. Shown in hard condition she covered the ground on the move and the picture was completed by the neat lashing tail. She has plenty of maturing to do but everything is there for a bright future.
2nd Bush’s Piasharn Breaking the Law another youngster who I really loved and pushed the first every inch of the way. She also has a lovely head and long neck. Standing she is a series of graceful curves, excellent long sloping shoulders and the best of fronts with correct feet. Today not as measured on the move as one but certainly another to watch in the future.
3rd Flint’s Narcissus Pipit by Casilex
Yearling Bitch (7,1)
1st Tibb’s Raigmore Faith in the Future smart b/w who is beautifully balanced with neat tail that was carried correctly on the move, another that has a balanced head with soft expression
2nd Nelis’ Freebreeze Special Effects JW Another really pleasing o/w who moved well. Today she was just lacking the maturity and balance of the first.
3rd Wynne–Evans’ Droveborough Frost Queen
Maiden Bitch (6,0)
1st Radcliffe’s Sniperay Suite Note (AI)
2nd Cobdan’s Alozia Zantini a heavily marked l/w with good solid movement; at the moment she is very immature and needs to grow on but has all the essentials. She just needs that extra confidence standing to show off her lovely balance and head.
3rd Gregson-Keirby’s Joneva Just a Dream
Novice Bitch (4,1)
1st Brock’s Zoalin Better Together. I really liked this o/w who was 3rd in puppy; driving action where she covered plenty of ground, she has a lovely spring of ribs & muscular hindquarters. Would like a tighter foot to complete the picture. However, a very promising young bitch.
2nd Gordon’s Hawkfield Happy Times. O/w who is still an absolute baby; today she decided to throw herself around on the move and yet she has the construction to produce some lovely ground covering movement when she matures. Correct feet with sloping pasterns and well let down hocks.
3rd Gregson- Keirby’s Joneva Just a Dream
Graduate Bitch (12,0)
1st Guy’s Carofel if I had Wings JW. An o/w who really caught my eye – a flowing series of graceful curves. Long muscular neck let into the correct sloping shoulders. She has lovely dark pigment which sets off her pretty head beautifully.
She continued to catch my eye in the challenge – certainly one for the future.
2nd Earl, Wheldon & Jones’ Flinthill Some Like It Hot at Caithpoint. A very honest b/w bitch who is not overdone in anyway. She has a lovely head with the kindest of eyes and is flowing and balanced all through.
3rd Matthew,s Sonham C’est La Vie
Post Graduate Bitch (7,1)
1st Welch, Drake & Hazeltine’s Clamerkin Jubilee Surprise at Hookwood. Strongly made b/w. she is balanced and has a lovely long muscular neck. Very powerful on the move covering the ground. Has the nicely balanced head but I would just like a higher ear set to complete the picture.
2nd Barham’s Droveborough Mocha Mayhem. L/w with a super head & soft expression. Good spring of rib. Not overdone but beautifully balanced fore and aft.
3rd Parkin’s Keepersfield Simone
Mid Limit Bitch (12,0)
1st Hinton’s Fleurfield Black Caviar absolutely loved this b/w who is just coming to full maturity; she is so balanced with good spring of rib carried well back, she has a lovely front with long sloping shoulders and the correct oval foot. Moved really well driving from her muscular thighs with plenty of forward reach. All this was topped off with a lovely head. She pushed my two main winners every inch of the way.
2nd Siddle, Siddle & Medeiros’ Wilchrimane Piri Piri there is a lot to like about this o/w however on the day I just preferred the topline of the first. She also has a good depth of chest and well-turned stifles with a good depth of thigh.
3rd Anderson Rowell’s Raigmore Limelight at Daledancer
Limit Bitch (4,1)
1st Blowers’ Fowington Lar Ti Dar at Deadaway my easy winner in this class o/w with a strong but balanced head with good pigmentation. She was shown in lovely hard condition really balanced on the move with the correct topline and tail set.
2nd Oddie’s Sharnphilly Tiktok at Riowood a short coupled balanced b/w who moved well with a correctly carried tail. I would just like a little more length in the in the foreface.
3rd Kennedy’s Droveboroughs Enid Blyton
Open Bitch (10,2)
Well, what can I say about this class – apart from stunning. On the first run round they took my breath away and today to be placed down the line was no indication of the quality of you bitch; as quality was shown right down the line, which made for some very difficult decisions,
1st Siddle, Siddle & Medeiros’ Wilchrimane Frankly Darlin an o/w shown in hard condition she just flowed in a series of graceful curves from her nose to the tip of her tail. Driving round the ring she screamed aristocrat. She has a lovely front with depth of brisket and correctly placed shoulders. Her lovely front was balanced by a muscular thigh with well-turned stifles. I was delighted to award her the BCC & with the agreement of my Co-Judge BIS
2nd Gerrard, Bell & Galloway’s Sh Ch Chesterhope C’mon Over To Carmandine (Imp NZL) JW another o/w shown in hard condition and fully mature. Many of the above remarks apply to this beautiful bitch and I really struggled to separate the two. She also moved really well covering plenty of ground whilst maintaining her topline. Another balanced head with the correct expression. RBCC
3rd Radcliffe’s Sh Ch Sniperay Edge of Glory JW
Veteran Bitch (7,1)
1st Young’s Gundioy Reflection Within this o/w certainly doesn’t look her 9 years of age. In lovely hard condition she is balanced and has lovely reach and drive on the move maintaining her topline. With the agreement of my Co-Judge she was BV in Show.
2nd Welch’s IR SH CH Oxfordacres Trinity by Hookwood JW ShCM at 11 years this lovely b/w has certainly managed to avoid the grey hairs and she can still really power round the ring. She has a lovely head and is balanced without being over exaggerated.
3rd Isherwood’s Symitry Iced Ginger
Field Trial Bitch (1)
1st Anderson Rowell’s Little Owl Scandiaca for Daledancer (Imp SVK). Such an honest b/w She has the softest of expressions with correctly set ears. Although 10 years old she was in hard condition which showed on the move when she was balanced and really covered the ground.
Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bitch (7,0)
1st Klaiber’s Hawkfield Scandalous previously placed 4th in a very strong Mid Limit class. A very pleasing o/w with excellent depth of brisket and well laid shoulders. She has a good spring of rib. Very true on the move.
2nd Collin’s Saregresi Ventulus Lemon Drop at Collholme (Imp Hun) a favourite of mine as a youngster – today she just had to make way for the younger bitch. She has a lovely head and excellent topline on the move with the neatest of tails.
3rd Droveboroughs Mocha Mayhem
Brace (2)
1st Mrs S E Booth
2nd Ms K Tregaskis
Joan Huxley.
