Shar-Pei Club Of Great Britain

Breed: Shar Pei

Thank you to the members for voting for me and to the committee for inviting me and those exhibitors who trusted me to judge their dogs on the day. I found my BIS & RBIS in the bitches today but there are some nice youngsters coming up in both sexes.

Puppy Dog 1

1 Morrises’ Witchgait Breaking Bad With Ashowai

Six month r/f with much to like. Developing well for age. Particularly liked the head properties with a typical Shar Pei frown that we see less of these days. Good width to skull, well placed ear, good clear eye. Correct bite and pigment with good width to under jaw. Good shoulders, straight well boned legs, typical top line with well placed and held tail. Moderate rear angulation with well let down hocks. Needs to mature yet in body as you’d expect. Moved well in all directions. A little unsettled today but considered for RCC. Will watch his development with interest.

Junior Dog 1

1 Dawson’s Quinnhalo Single Pringle

R/f just out of puppy and one I’d liked from ringside in his first six months. Presents a good outline when settled. Good head properties and proportions, clear eye, good bite and pigment. Lovely open nostrils. Good moderate neck into well laid shoulder onto straight legs. Correct top line. Tail set on and carried well. Good harsh jacket. A little unsettled today but moved well in all directions and with maturity could trouble the best.

Post Graduate Dog 1

1 Butterfield’s Chequerpei Jive Talking JW

Red male who is maturing nicely. Good head with excellent eyes and bite. Good open nostrils. Good neck and well laid shoulder. Enough upper arm to give a good forechest - placing the legs correctly under. Nicely off for bone. Presents a square and balanced outline when settled. Excellent harsh coat. His movement was one of the best on the day with good reach and perfect breed typical footfall, underlining his make up and securing him the RCC. With maturity I’m sure he will be one to watch.

Open Dog 3

1 Sutherland’s Ch Eki Zimurrak Jolerob When You Smile For Witchgait (Imp ESP)

Very masculine, fully mature r/f who presents a balanced breed-typical outline on the stand. Good head properties with clean eye, good bite and pigment. Strong neck. Well laid shoulder with enough upper arm to give the desired forechest that the breed seems to be losing. Good top line and moderately angulated rear. For perfection would prefer slightly more well let down hocks but that didn’t detract from awarding him a well deserved CC & BOS.

2 Todd’s Ch Witchgait Toasted Cheese JW ShCEx OSW

Another r/f I have admired from ringside with much to like. Presents a square balanced outline. Correctly shaped head with good eye, nose and bite. A slightly wider back skull would complete the picture. Good strong neck, well laid shoulders. Correct in top line with well angulated rear. Presented and handled excellently. Moved ok.

Veteran D/B 2

1 Poole’s Ch Coatakinti Double Dare

Just turned eight years old male who oozes breed type and presents a breed typical outline. Nice head properties with good eye, small correctly placed ears. Well off for bone throughout. Strong neck, correct shoulders, excellent top line and tail set. While he was clearly changing coat he still boasted a harsh off-standing jacket. Moved steadily in all directions.

2 Walkers and Smithsons’ Pontshannon I Did It With You

Very pretty red bitch with much to like, who is slightly longer cast than 1. Feminine head with good eye, excellent pigment and bite. Enough bone with good harsh coat. Good shoulders, moderate rear angulation. Can look slightly exaggerated in top line but corrects herself when relaxed presenting a much more balanced outline. Moved well in all directions.

Junior Bitch 1

1 Walkers’ and Smithsons’ Pontshannon Kashmir Girl

Very pretty youngster who is still very raw yet. Presents a balanced outline. Good head properties with excellent eye, bite and pigment. Nice neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth to chest. Excellent top line and tail set. Moved well when settled. Just needs time to mature.

Limit Bitch 1

1 Pooles’ Terra Dos Celtas Tell Me Everything At Coatakinti

Feminine Red bitch with much to like, who is maturing well. Beautiful head with correct eye, ear set, bite and pigment. Strong neck onto good shoulders. Enough upper arm to give good forechest. Moderate rear assembly. Can over extend herself on the stand but when stood correctly has the desired topline and tail set. Moved well. Overall a very nice youngster who with maturity should trouble the best.

Open Bitch 6

1 Braggs’ Ch Loopang’s Back In Business (AI)

R/f bitch currently at the top of her game. Presents a square, balanced, breed typical outline. Very pretty head with everything in the right place and good width to skull. Good shoulders, enough upper arm, good forechest and legs set well under. Correct in top line and tail set. Coat of good quality. Moved well in all directions. Handled and presented beautifully to CC & BIS.

2 Sutherland’s Ch Witchgait Show Us Ya Baps

A different type to 1 but another who presented a balanced and breed typical outline. Very feminine head with good width to skull. Correct ear placement. Good bite and pigment. Strong neck, well-laid shoulder, good top line and tail set. Moderate rear with well let down hocks. Good harsh jacket. Moved well in all directions. Was splitting hairs between my top two here but just preferred the head of 1 on the day. Still delighted to award RCC & RBIS
