Three Counties Agricultural Society

Breed: Hamiltonstovare

Three Counties Championship Show: 6th June 2024

Hamiltonstovare

Very handsome breed that is always a pleasure to judge, both the exhibits and the exhibitors all seem to have great temperaments and pleased to see the quality in this numerically small breed has actually improved since I last judged them, which cannot be said for some of the larger breeds. Thank you to the exhibitors for no absentees today.

Post Graduate dog: 2

Not the easiest class to judge, two lovely males, neither on their best behaviour.

1st Prices’ Sufayre Magnusson of Harecroft

Mature 6 years old in fine form and a very handsome male, I loved his typical head and eye, excellent overall quality and type, very sound front and rear, just refused to lift his head off the ground today which spoiled his chances in the challenge.

2nd Briants’ Play On For Sufayre

Just 19 months and looked a real baby compared to above, still a little apprehensive, but has excellent type and substance. I slightly preferred the head and eye of winner, but he has a lot of promise, and when he did eventually move, he was sound and has a lot to like about him. Just needs time.

Open Dog: 2

1st Briant and Ellwoods’ Sufayre Larsson

6 years litter brother to previous class winner, a top quality hound who I have previously judged as a junior in 2019. He has absolutely fulfilled my expectations, mature and in fine form. Masculine head with correct expression, looks great standing and moving. Pleased to award him Best Dog,

today for me, he was just outshone in the challenge for Best of Breed by his gorgeous half sister.

2nd Grahams’ Game Changer For Sufayre

Another super youngster, litter brother to 2nd in Post Grad’ Dog, he is much more mature and together on the move, I actually slightly preferred his head to winner of this class, at only 19 months he has so much potential and definitely one for the future. Had to give way to his half brother in the challenge on maturity. Res Best Dog.

Veteran Dog: 1

1st Armstrong, Briant and Briants’ AVI Hamilton Star with Sufayre (imp POL)

Mature masculine 8 years old, excellent well constructed male who is clearly a huge influence in this breed in the U.K, he has passed great things onto his progeny and is the sire of nearly all my winners today. Best Veteran.

Puppy Bitch: 1

1st Kenmares’ Omega Huculska Dolina At Craigmills (imp POL)

Still very immature at only 7 months, but she is feminine throughout with a well balanced pretty head and dark eye. Good length of neck into well laid shoulders, well bodied with good length, correct feet. She has good front and hind angulation excellent side movement, just needs to tighten on the move which should come with maturity, I liked her style. Best Puppy.

Post Graduate Bitch: 1

1st Riellys’ Wishmaker for Sufayre

19 months litter sister, to my Res Best Dog, not dissimilar in style and quality, I like her head and expression, lovely overall type and balance. Very well constructed throughout, with correct topline and good front and hind co-ordination. Very enthusiastic mover, just needs to settle into her stride coming and going. Still a little immature, which is perfect for her age, another one for the future, Res Best Bitch.

Open Bitch: 1

1st Briants’ Star Catcher from Sufayre

Another top quality hound from this excellent kennel, litter sister to above, and for me she really is totally true to the standard. I loved everything about her, she oozes femininity, type and style, a pleasure to go over, and beautifully marked. Never put a foot wrong on the move, and one I would definitely take home. In the challenge, I felt that despite her age, she just had that little bit extra, pleased to award her Best of Breed.

This breeder should be very proud of her consistent quality in her breeding.

Veteran Bitch: 1

1st Prices’ Sufayre Lydia of Harecroft (AI)

Mature 7 year old balanced head with good length of neck into well laid shoulders, good depth and correct length, nice hind quarters with good feet, low set tail and correct carriage. Has good front and hind co-ordination, just did ot make the best of herself on the move today, but sound throughout.
