RESULTS OF LAGOTTO ROMAGNOLO BOURNEMOUTH CH. SHOW 10th Aug 2024

I was so pleased to accept this judging appointment after five years of loving the breed and learning as much as I can about its origins, and how the breed standard is interpreted. I am conscious that interpretations vary, but I have used the knowledge I have gained, along with a lifetime of judging Gundogs, to apply my thoughts to my judging. There is still a variation in coat presentation and type, but I have noticed a more 'standardisation' in all aspects even over this short time .

Thank you for my entry. What a shame that several exhibitors were ill or their dogs were unable to attend for various reasons. It is a busy time of year for shows, and I know that travelling the length and breadth of the country is a big ask!! Nevertheless I had difficult decisions to make in my judging!! Thank you to my helpful stewards.

Puppy D/B (2)

1.Bond and Rawlinson's Spencer Tracey

A most attractive puppy of 7 months. He is well balanced for his age, and is developing nicely. Coat is correct for age and he was very well presented and handled. He moved freely and soundly. Liked his masculine head which has good proportions and intelligent expression, slight stop, good nose and correct dentition. BP

2.Mangham's Foogel Candeloro At Onyxro

Taller puppy with sufficient angulation and a balanced head with muzzle developing. Coat is also developing nicely with curls good for age. Moved with drive. Well presented and handled and with a nice disposition. Just preferred balance of 1 at this stage.

Junior D/B (1,ab)

Post Grad Dog (1)

1. Blunden's Mikette Aye Aye Captain

A very nice squarely built dog of good size. He is sturdy and masculine all through. Particularly liked his head; good proportions, with length of skull to occiput slightly longer than muzzle, as desired. He has a narrow and correct chest, and angulation which allows him to drive from behind, but with no exaggeration. He was not in the best coat today, otherwise he would have been a contender for best dog. I liked him a lot.

Open Dog (3, 1ab)

1.Mangham;s Foogel Roberto At Onyxro (imp Finland)

I loved the head on this dog. He has a masculine, but lively expression, and he presents a nice overall impression of a quality Lagotto. I would like a slightly longer coat, but he was well presented and his unexaggerated angulation meant he moved freely but with sufficient drive keeping his outline . BD and BOB

2. Bond and Zdunic's Multi Ch Kan Trace Emit Remmus

Eye catching dog He moved soundly and with great drive and was well handled. He has masculinity and substance and is strong in body and bone. Presented in excellent condition. RBD Difficult decisions as both dogs had much to like about them.

P. Grad bitch

(2, 1ab)

!.Blunden's Mikette Autumnal Equinox

Pretty brown roan just coming up to 2 years. Correct proportions to head; moderately broad and with slight stop. Fairly large eyes, with eye colour blending with coat. Niced size bitch, with slightly more rear angulation, as required, and good balance overall, which produced free flowing movement, RBB

Open bitch(2, 1ab)

1. Blunden's Mikette One In A Million

Appealed for her square, typical outline and correct front and angulation. Neat tail, good feet, feminine expression. moved soundly and freely. BB but only just pipping her younger kennel mate to the post. Again, a difficult decision between these two.
