Three Counties Show 2024

Italian Greyhounds

A thank you to the Three counties committee for asking me to judge at their show today. My stewards were a delight, very experienced and very efficient, so a big thank you to them. Lastly I would like to thank the exhibitors for your entry. The weather was very variable and this affected some exhibits but on the whole temperaments were good. Coats and teeth were clean although some dogs could have had a better bite. Nails on the whole were well looked after. Some dogs could have had a little less weight.

Dogs

Puppy Dog (5,3) 1. Mack’s Alura Prince To Minitopos – Very smart Black/white coming up to 11 month old dog, Shown in lovely condition with a fine coat as you would expect to find with US imports. Masculine enough head for age, well set ears and lovely eye, He has a decent length of neck leading to a curvy topline and a correct tail carriage. Front was straight and he isn’t overdone behind. Was very steady on the move and moved out well. Will watch with interest how he goes on as he matures.

2. Thompsons Bytheiads’s Brave Lionheart, Blue Dog 8 months, Lovely coat and shown in good condition. He is at that stage that all puppy dogs seem to go through. He is still raw and has as yet to fulfil his promise. Pleasing head and expression with good ear carriage. He stands over a lot of ground at the moment and still needs to tighten up in movement, a bit untidy moving behind.

Junior (2,1) 1. Amsel & Hayden-Smith Artmeis Aces High of Regallust (imp) fawn dog that fills the eye he oozes quality, an exciting young dog to watch for the future. Masculine in every way, nice for size, lovely head and eye. Straight front, correct topline that he holds on the move. Moves out well and with style and drive. This dog is in tiptop condition both in coat and muscle tone

Graduate (1,1)

Limit (3,0) 1. Wilcocks Newill Haymaker – Another quality young fawn dog of nice size and in good condition, Pleasing head and expression, good length of neck, shapely outline without being overdone, Moved out well in the challenge and did enough to be awarded the RCC

2. Waltons, Valentini Edoardo, Attractive Fawn and white, Masculine head with a kind expression good length of neck, straight in front and a bit more compact in outline than 1. A little unsettled on the table he nether the less moved out well enough in profile.

3. Thompsons Blue Lagoon of Bytheiad

Open (1,1) Mr P & Mrs J Lee & Amsel Ch Artmeis Jokers Wild. A real quality dog. masculine head with lovely expression, good length of stop and correct underjaw and well carried ears. Well arched neck. A straight front, Correct top line which he held on the move, well let down hocks that allowed him to move with drive. Moved true coming and going and in profile. Presented in a fit and well-muscled condition. I was pleased to award him the DCC and very close up for BOB which he had to concede to his litter sister.

Veteran Dog (2,0) Amsels CH Florita Tavalino – An all-time favourite of mine to which I gave his crowning CC, he is certainly not showing his age. Of correct size he is elegant without losing his masculinity. he elegant head has refined over time without losing his lovely expression. Presented in fit condition and still moves out well and with style – BVIB

Bitches

Puppy (8,3) 1. Davis & Mack- Marchwind Nefertari at Jemalsheva (Imp Usa) A very attractive Red with white trim bitch, so typical of this US kennel. Lovely head and expression with good dentition and lovely dark eye. Stood well on the ground and was steady on the table. Feminine head, adequate length of neck into a curvy topline which she held on the move. Good front and not overdone in hindquarters, moved with style, she is nice for size and a very mature puppy which we are not used to seeing in the UK. Pleased to award her the RBCC and BPIB

2. Smeath Bytheiad Fair Guinevere at Willingwisp – The polar opposite of 1 this little girl is very much a baby puppy. Would benefit with losing a bit of weight as she is built on smaller lines and is quite compact. Sweet head and expression but ears need to settle. Moved well enough in profile. A bit untidy coming and going but as she matures this should all fall into place.

3. Drakes Porsche The Blue

Junior (3,2) Willcocks Newill Swift Wind, my first observation of this fawn girl was how lovely she is. On the smaller side but still has a good length of top line appropriate to her size. Beautiful feminine head with lovely eye and expression, straight front and not overdone behind she moves soundly with elegance in both profile and coming and going

Graduate (1,0) Willcocks Newill Swift Wind

Post Graduate (1,0) Bleakleys Miwell Estee Lauder, a well-made Fawn bitch , feminine head and lovelyexpression, adequate length of neck. Slightly long over the loin but she still moved out well enough due to her good hindquarters. Just needs a bit weight off.

Limit (3,0) A & D Guyton Ansanda Winter Bird, Very attractive quality bitch with a gorgeous red coat that just gleams, lovely head and expression, a good length of muzzle which was missing in some exhibits today. Shapely topline, good straight front and well let down hocks but not overdone, excellent muscle tone, moves with style seriously considered for the RCC.

2. Mellis’s Miwell Mary Quant by Lamoye, red girl, pleasing head and expression, adequate length of neck, a bit long in top line but good hind quarters. Moved out well enough. Just lacked the finish and quality of 1.

3. Righton’s Zephyrelli Reginnia

Open (4,1) Amsel & Rishworth-Cutler – CH Artmeis Raise The Stakes. Super quality bitch still only 2 years old and she just gets better and better. Beautiful head, eyes and expression. Elegant neck, Good front and shoulders, holds her topline on the move and well-handled to get the best out of her on the move. Moved true coming and going and so correct in profile She was my jewel in the crown and I awarded her BCC and BOB. Delighted that she then went on to win the Toy group which to me is always one of the strongest groups.

2. Hayden-Smith Ch Artmeis Summer Breeze at Birchwind, another quality Fawn and white bitch with a lot to like, not quite the front construction of 1 she nether the less moved out soundly for her handler. Nice head with a lovely dark eye, good length of neck and top line, super coat and condition

3. Righton Zephyrelli Florence
