10th Championship Show

Thursday 9th May 2024

Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation to judge at their 10th Championship Show in conjunction with Birmingham National. We had a lovely large ring, with a good undercover area. It was a very hot day, and some dogs may have been affected by the heat. Thank you to both of my stewards for keeping the ring moving, but most of all to you the exhibitors for the great honour and pleasure of your lovely dogs.

Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)

1. Cllr Rose - Piccorino Pheasant Plucker

Smart chestnut dog, coming up 7 months of age, very much a babe with an outgoing demeanour. So much to like on this youngster, pleasing outline on the stack of the correct proportions. Balanced head piece, divergent planes and large spongy nose. Body well developed for his age, with depth and substance all through. Just needing to tighten up on the move. One to watch for the future.

Puppy Dog ( 5,2)

1. Pipes & Groves - Bushwacker Don Juan

Impressive puppy, 9 month old orange dog, showing great strength and power to his outline, very shapely and masculine. Liked his balanced profile when stood. His head has the desired length and proportions, a little broader, with a toning eye. Strong neck with a well developed forechest and depth to the brisket. Holding the correct topline with strong wide quarters. A little unsettled on the move today, but showed lovely drive - BPD.

2. Mr & Mrs Phillips - Bushwacker Donnie Darko

Litter brother to winner and very similar in outline, showing a balanced profile and almost square. Not quite the bone and substance of 1st. Lovely long lean head, with a kind expression. Good depth to the chest, with ribs carried well back and correct topline. Moved out with purpose.

3. Mrs Pearne - Woodlandblue Fernando

Junior Dog (4,0)

1. Mr & Ms Pearson - Kelevra Bacchustabio

Sturdy and well-built 13 month old orange dog, who showed himself off well. Presenting a balanced outline, with good body proportions, and short coupled. Masculine head, has a little more width to back skull, lovely length to muzzle, divergent planes and slight roman nose. Strong neck, and deep in brisket with a well developed forechest. Well boned limbs onto neat feet. Body well developed holding the correct topline both standing and moving. Used his strong hindquarters to drive around the ring.

2. Mr & Mrs Warburton - Owlspoint Loads Of Trouble At Heberhouse JW

15 month old orange, another shapely boy, who was just off square in outline, with a little more length of leg. Pleasing head, long and lean, showing the median line, kind oval eye and good depth to the flews. Short strong neck, deep in brisket, correct topline and short coupled. More moderate in angulation in good muscle tone. Not quite as clean today in the rear as winner, but showed super drive.

3. Miss Szulzycka - Braccorion’s All or Nothing

Yearling (3,0)

1. Ms Pearson - Braccorions You Can Conquer

Rather taken with this 20 month old W/O dog, he has a lovely almost square outline, with good strength all through. He is strong and masculine but not overdone. He has such a gentle expression, the head proportions are harmonious, showing chiselling and a low set ear. Strong neck with right amount of dewlap, flowing into a good well held topline. Deep through the body and stands on good oval boned limbs. Would prefer tighter feet. Wide hindquarters, with low set hocks. Positive and ground covering action. One I considered in the challenge.

2. Miss Szulzycka - Braccorion’s All or Nothing

Chestnut dog just 12 months of age, a little hesitant today, Liked his overall shape and balance. Masculine head, with good chiselling, spongy nose, low set ears, kind oval eyes. Strong neck, with good depth to the brisket, not the forechest of winner, ribs carried well back, to a short strong loin. Liked his hindquarters, wide thighs and a good bend of stifle. Would like him to be a bit tidier out and back, but with a lovely extended side gait

3. Fazenfield & Smith - Owlspoint Askin For Trouble

Post Graduate (4,0)

1. Pipes & Groves - Bushwacker Demetrio

Square outline to this 2 year old O/W dog, but feel he still has a bit more maturing to do to finish the picture. Balance head shape and proportions, with a gentle expression from his toning oval eye. Correct length of neck, flowing into a well held topline, he has enough depth but would like a little more fill in of forechest. Ribs carried well back to a short strong loin. Moderate angulation fore and aft, muscular hindquarters with well let down hocks. Moved out cleanly.

2. Mrs Bond - Teverlarni Keep The Faith

2 year old chestnut, who shows good balance when stood. Long lean head, with divergent planes, narrow at zygomatic arches, eye toning well, giving gentle expression. Strong neck but a little more dewlap. Correct topline and chest down to the elbow, short coupled and a good bend of stifle. He is rather proud of his tail on the move, which did detract from his outline. A little lose in front, showing drive from the rear and extending well.

3. Mrs Kestin - Tlyfan Affogato

Limit (7,1)

Much to like about these dogs, pushed the winners hard.

1. Miss & Ms Smith - Teverlarni Stick To Ya Guns

Lovely body lines to this 2 year old orange dog. Liked his overall balance, nothing is overdone with harmonious proportions. Masculine head with correct head planes, lean with a muzzle of good length and width, having a gentle expression. Strong neck, seamlessly flowing into a well held topline. Brisket is deep and ribs well sprung with a gentle underline. Wide thighs and good bend of stifle, with low set hocks. Moved out with style and extension, clean both fore and aft.

2. Forbes & Sladden - Canemamans Primo Al Fine JW

Another pleasing dog 2 year old orange, with good overall balance. He is sturdy with good substance with an almost square outline. He has an appealing head, of good length and lean all through, low set ears and toning oval eye. Slightly longer reach of neck, with good depth to the brisket and well sprung rib cage. Stands on good oval boned limbs and neat feet. Today falling away a little at the croup with a higher tail carriage on the move. Showed himself off on the move, with a clean action

3. Bell & Maddox - Whitgun Renegade Master At Owlspoint JW

Open (8,0)

1. Mr Sladden - Valcor The Confessor At Canemamans JW

Stylish and quality orange roan dog rising 4 years of age. He has a real presence about him, being upstanding and all male but with nothing overdone. Full of breed type and took the top spot today for his super movement. Presented a balanced outline when stood, just a little longer than square. Pleasing lean and proportionate head, with correct divergent planes, kind oval eye, and depth to the flew. Strong neck flowing neatly into a well laid shoulder. Deep in brisket, with width and depth to the ribcage, a fraction longer in loin. Stands on strong oval boned limbs and well arched toes. Strong, wide and muscular hindquarters, which he used to advantage to drive around the ring showing a lovely extending side gait, and true fore and aft. In harmony with his handler and shown to advantage to go onto take DCC & BIS, I understand this was his 3rd CC – Congratulations.

2. Mc Andrew & Boyles - Gunsyn Wave Runner In Brackenmist

Very shapely 3 year old orange, who unfortunately was not totally settled today, which affected his overall performance. Loved his balanced and unexaggerated symmetry, combined with his almost square outline, all gives a very pleasing picture in profile. Lovely long lean and handsome head, with strength to the foreface, and large spongy nose. Well developed in forechest and depth down to the elbow, Good oval bone, holding the correct topline stood and moving. Strong hindquarters which showed in powerful movement.

3. Mrs Jackson - Solwaypoint Portofino

Champion (1,0)

1. Cllr Rose - Sh Ch Braccorion’s Running Rings Around Piccorino

Very much liked this 4 year old orange dog, very solid and sturdy all through, and presented the desired outline when stood. Masculine lean head of good length and divergent planes, clean oval eye and colour toning well with coat, strength to the muzzle with a roman nose. Strong neck, lovely depth and fill in of forechest, strong well boned limbs, with a slight slope to the pastern and good feet. Holding the correct topline both stood and on the move, short coupled and ribs well back. Hindquarters strong but preferred - linewidth of thigh of Open winner, showed a lovely side gait on the move with good extension, just not quite as tidy behind today, delighted to award him the RDCC.

Veteran (2,0)

1. Mr & Mrs Sanderson - Sh Ch Owlspoint Trouble At Mill ShCM ShCEx VW

Smart 7 year old orange dog, with so many qualities to admire. Impressive outline when stood, a picture of balance, strength and substance. Balanced head shape, with correct planes, kind and gentle expression, large spongy nose. Muscular neck of correct length flowing into well laid shoulders, deep brisket of good width and ribs well sprung, holding a typical topline. Well boned limbs, a little down in the pasterns today. Strong wide muscular quarters and low set hocks. A good mover in profile, a fraction wide behind, one I considered for top honours. – Delighted to award him BVIS

2. Bell & Maddox - Sh Ch Owlspoint Master Of Trouble ShCM ShCEx VW

A tough decision between these 2 lovely boys. At nearly 9 years old this orange lad still has a cracking outline. He has such a noble head, balanced, long and lean. Evident median line, lovely oval eyes, and depth to the flew. Strong neck, deep in brisket, sturdy oval boned limbs. Holding the correct topline, wide thighs with a good bend of stifle. But I think the heat of the day had an affect when moving, not quite the drive of winner today, but still showing good extension whilst holding his shape.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1,0)

1. Bramley, Holdstock Fretwell- Piccorino Praise Be

Delightful, and full of beans 6 month old chestnut bitch. Pleasing outline for one so young, her profile is just off square, and shows good overall balance. Long lean head, with a good length to the muzzle, low set ears and a kind and slightly mischievous expression. Correct length of neck, her chest is down to the elbow and ribs show a good spring, with wide quarters. A little difficult to assess on the move as she was having too much fun, but did show a few steps with good length of stride.

Puppy Bitch (4,2)

1. Mrs Jackson - Solwaypoint Sunset

Super 11 month old orange bitch, thought she had a lovely flowing outline, compact and almost square, sturdy yet retaining her noble elegance. Most feminine of heads, long and lean and of good proportions, nicely chiselled, with strength to the foreface, good depth to the flew and a toning eye giving a gentle expression. Strong neck, which is fairly short, lovely depth to the brisket and standing on well boned oval boned limbs. Ribs are well sprung and carried back to a short loin. Wide quarters with a nice sweep of stifle and hocks low set. A free and positive mover, showing good extension – BPB & BPIS

2. Mrs Kestin - Woodlandblue Mamma Mia At Talyfan

11 month old chestnut bitch of a different stamp to winner, but still a shapely outline of the desired proportions. Her head is feminine and lean, with depth to the flews, a low set ear and with the eye colour toning well. Chest down to the elbow, not quite the forechest of winner as yet, holding a good topline, moderate in her angulation. Showed drive on the move.

Junior Bitch (5,0)

First 3 are all litter sisters.

1. Miss Towns - Braccorion’s Piccorino Pick Me

Fell for this 12 month old orange bitch, thought she was lovely. She has substance, but also noble with feminine elegance. Strong and sturdy, without being overdone. With lovely body proportions, being almost square and a flow to her outline. Balanced and feminine head, long and lean, good depth to the flews, strength to the foreface and big spongy nose. Defined median line dividing her tight oval toning eyes all giving a soft and gentle expression. Strong neck which is moderately short, well developed in forechest and depth to the brisket, ribs show a lovely spring to them and carried back to her short loin. She stands on good oval boned limbs, with wide hammy quarters, well bent stifle and short hock to heel. Moved out soundly in all direction and with good extension, just lacked that ‘joie de vivre’ to take the top spot today.

2. Miss & Miss Steel - Piccorino Per Piacere To Juhua

Litter sister to winner, and similar in many ways, just not quite as together as yet, and giving her handler a bit of a hard time! Looking a little more ranging than 1 today, but time is on her side for her to blossom. Her positive movement gaining her place over her other litter sister. Pleasing head, of good proportions , strong neck , nicely filled in forechest, and chest down to the elbow. A little more moderate in her angulation. Moving out true fore and aft.

3. Mrs Worgan - piccorino Pereroncina

Yearling Bitch (4,1)

1. Ms Atherton - Braccorions You Win Again At Brevathos

Liked the overall shape, size, and substance of this 17 month old orange bitch. Her outline is just off square with the right amount of strength all through. Nicely balanced head, with divergent planes, good width and depth to the muzzle, kind toning eyes. Well developed through the body, and with strong oval boned limbs, feet tight and well arched. Strong muscular hindquarters showing a good width of thigh and bend to the stifle. Worked well with her handler to show a good side gait and nice width behind when going away.

2. Mrs Worgan - piccorino Pereroncina

Previously 3rd in Junior class, a full of beans orange bitch. She has a little more range to her outline at present, not quite the bone or substance of winner. But much to like. Pleasing feminine head, well balanced and with good proportions, lean with pronounced occiput and kind oval eyes. Good depth to the brisket, a fraction longer in loin. Moved with a lovely extending side gait.

3. Sladden & Webber - Paris Mon Tresore D’Amoure (Imp Pol)

Post Graduate Bitch (6,0)

1. Miss Longman - Braccorion’s Xoxo At Callaiscroft

Shapely bitch who has just turned 2 years old. Like the overall balance and proportions, as she has the desired substance and strength in her frame that is just longer than square. Correct head planes, a little broader, good length to the foreface, with a roman nose. Strong neck, nicely filled in in-front, and stands on good oval boned limbs. Ribs well sprung and carried well back to a short strong loin. Holding her topline both stood and on the move. Strong wide quarters, positive and true on the move.

2. Mrs Lawrence - Braccorions Xclusive

Litter sister to winner, not quite the overall balance of winner being a fraction longer in body. Liked her head piece, of good length and lean, nicely chiselled, with oval eye. A little more moderate in her angulation. Good depth to the brisket and spring to the ribs. Holds the correct topline, with muscular hindquarters. Free flowing movement in her side gait.

3. Mrs & Miss Hurst - You Can Crown The Queen (Imp Hun)

Limit Bitch (8,4)

1. Mr & Mrs Sanderson - Whitgun U’Can’t Touch This At Walwal JW

2 year old bitch who showed herself off with confidence. She has a square outline, with a good length of leg, balanced and unexaggerated. Her head is feminine and proportionate, with equal balance of backskull to foreface. Showing chiselling under the eyes, good depth to the flews and a low set ear. Brisket is down to the elbow with well sprung ribs, short coupled with a well held correct topline. Working well with her handler, to show true and powerful strides.

2. Miss & Ms Smith - Teverlarni Secret Dreams

Chestnut bitch just turned 2 years of age, of a different type to winner, being a fraction longer in body, but with good substance and type. Liked her head, feminine, showing the desired leanness, depth to the flew, pronounced occiput and a well toning oval shaped eye. Strong moderately short neck flowing into a correct and well held topline. Good depth and spring to the ribcage, strong well angulated hindquarters. Just not as precise on the move as winner today

3. Mr & Mrs Warburton - Withamfriary Lush Blossom At Heberhouse

Open Bitch (5,0)

1. Mr & Ms Pearson - Kelevra Covo Di Ladri JW

Workmanlike 3 year old orange bitch, very feminine with a slightly longer overall length. Balanced head shape with good proportions, showing length and width to the muzzle and a slight roman nose, she has such a kind expression from her toning oval shaped eyes. Her topline has the desired flow with a slight fall and rise, loin a fraction longer. Brisket down to the elbow, with a gentle underline. Muscular hindquarters with a decent width of thigh and hocks set squarely to the ground. A free and easy mover with a good side extension.

2. Miss Towns - Braccorions You Are My Candy

19 month old white & orange bitch, smaller in stature than winner, but with super substance and bone. Pleasing head proportions, with divergent planes, evident median line and prominent occiput, with a well shaped eye. Strong fairly short neck, deep throughout the body and good forechest. Stands on well boned limbs, a little down in the pasterns today. Strong wide quarters, and well bent stifles, moved out well in profile, not quite as tidy as winner fore and aft today.

3. Miss & Ms Smith - Fancyguns Dancing Queen

Champion Bitch (1,0)

1. Miss Coghlan - Sh Ch Braccorion’s Va Va Voom JW

Lovely 4 year old chestnut bitch, full of character and showed herself off with style and pizzazz. She has the air of nobility, and a shapely silhouette. When stood her outline is almost square, with good strength and substance. Most feminine of heads, nicely balanced, divergent planes with depth to the flew ending in a spongy nose, her low set ears framing her face, narrow at the zygomatic arches, and she has a thoughtful expression from her lovely oval eyes. Well developed in forechest and deep in brisket, she holds the correct topline both stood and on the move to a well set on and carried tail. Wide quarters, with short strong hocks, which she put to effective use to drive around the ring showing a lovely side gait – Delighted to award her BCC & RBIS

Veteran Bitch (4,2)

1. Mr & Mrs Chadwick - Gunsyn Little Lies

Orange bitch who has just turned 7 years of age. Liked her overall balance, in profile she presents an outline of just off square, whilst holding the correct topline. Pleasing head for its proportions, with a good length to the foreface, protruding spongy nose, and lean all through. Strong neck, with enough depth to the brisket, limbs are moderately boned, onto lovely tight feet. A little more moderate in her angulation fore and aft. Showed herself off well on the move, showing drive and clean in her action - BVB.

2. Mrs Critchley - Sazmallin Dollywagon Pike

9 year old chestnut bitch, in super condition and a credit to her owner. A fraction longer in body than winner, but she has lovely substance and depth. Just loved her head, the grey muzzle just adding to her appeal. Balanced head piece, with good ratios, divergent planes, and she has such a gentle expression from her dark oval eyes. Well developed through the body, with a good spring to the ribcage and a gentle underline. Moderate in her hindquarters, well boned legs and neat feet. Moved out soundly, just not the extension of winner.
