Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the officers and committee for their kind invitation for me to judge this delightful breed for the first time with CC’s. I have to say it is a very enjoyable breed to judge, with lovely dogs and exhibitors. Great to see and hear the camaraderie around the ring for all classes and down the line. Sorry we had a rather unhelpful ring, so moving was not as easy as it could have been, but hopefully we made the best of it. I certainly had a lovely day, congratulations on the new male champion, how wonderful for the owners, and to the BOB being shortlisted in a lovely group.

Class 1401 PD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

11 month old dog, who is coming together nicely. Liked his overall stamp, and size. Typical head shape, with high set ears, and good strength to the foreface. Strong neck, enough depth for his age. Well boned limbs. Still a little raw in his movement at present, but in lovely muscle tone, showing parallel movement behind a fraction lose in front. – BPD

Strong neck of good length cleanly flowing into a firm well held topline. Enough depth and ribbing. Tending to carry his tail well over the back. Moved out cleanly and with the typical springy strides.

Smart 3 year old dog, with a typical outline and giving a shapely silhouette when stood. Scores in head, good width to the back skull, moderate stop, well placed ears and lovely dark almond shaped eyes with strength to the foreface, such a kind expression. Would like a little more confidence when being gone over. Well presented in good double coat

Lots to like on the darker red dog who is coming up 3 years of age. He has a lovely flow to his outline. He is solid and masculine but in no way overdone, being of a nice size and with good overall proportions. Liked his head, clean cut, with the right amount of strength to the backsull, well placed ears, and toning almond eyes giving an adoring expression. Clean and straight forelegs of good bone onto tight feet. Well developed forechest and depth to the brisket. Held a firm topline both stood and moving. Good hindquarters, with a nice bend to the stifle. Moved with reach and drive. One I considered for the top awards.

2nd: 3820 ELKIN, Miss M L Tollelkin Dream Harbour JW

Upstanding and proud 3 year old dog, close up to winner as there is much to like. Loved his raring to go attitude, and very focused on his handler. Pleasing wedge shaped head, correct set to the ears, inquisitive almond eyes. Strong, clean neck, good depth to the brisket, and well developed through the body. Standing on well boned limbs and tight feet. Strong hindquarters which he put to effective use to drive around the ring, tending to move a fraction wider in front today. Beautifully present coat and in firm condition.

His head is masculine, showing the desired slight wedge shape, with toning almond eyes, well placed high set ears all giving him a kind but alert expression. Correct medium length of neck, which flowed seamlessly into a firm and well held topline. Good spring to the ribcage and a short strong loin. Lovely outline on this 7 year old dog when stacked, liked his overall size, shape and masculinity. So attentive to his handler, who together made a lovely partnership to show to advantage. He has a nice flow from nose to tail. He has a masculine and correctly shaped head, clean cut with a moderate stop, would prefer a better ear carriage, lovely toning almond eye giving a gentle expression. Strong neck of good length, flowing nicely into a firm level topline. Well developed in brisket and forechest, with the ribs carried well back. Good width to the thighs and short hock to heel. Loved him on the move, as he showed a typical jaunty stride, clean in his action, whilst holding his outline. Well presented - RDCC

Rather taken with this 11 month old bitch, she is nicely balanced when stood, and is keen and alert to her handler, so showing herself off to advantage. Liked her overall size and stamp, nothing is overdone and everything in the right place for her age. Her feminine head displays the correct wedge shape with good width to the back skull, well placed ears and a toning eye. Good length of neck, to a firm topline, enough depth for her age. She stands on well bone limbs and tight feet. Still needing to tighten a little more on the move, but using her well feathered tail, and a good head carriage. BPB & BPIB

2nd: 3860 WILLIAMS, Mrs Gaynor Rivermaster's Tinkerbell

Giving a lot away today, as this 9 month old bitch is a little raw compared with the winner, but time is on her side. She is of a nice general size and shape, with a nice flow to her topline. She has a good wedge shape to the head, but her ears need to settle. Good length of neck, OK for depth for her age, just needing time to body and mature.

Just loved the exuberance and zest for life this 10 year old bitch has, no one has told her she is 10 years not 10 months! So light and spritely in her demeanour. Her coat is a little thicker, which can make her look a little heavier, but with hands on, she is still fit and shapely. Balanced and feminine head, well proportioned, and gently tapering, those dark almond eyes still hold a hint of mischief. Strong neck, firm topline, lovely depth and ribbing. Harmonious in her angulation. Moved with a spring in her step – BVB.
