Bearded Collie Club Of Scotland

Breed: Birmingham Gundog & Terrier Club Open Show

The Birmingham & District Gundog & Terrier Club

Saturday 5th October 2024

English Setter

Many thanks to this hard-working Club for the invitation; There was a lot of multi-tasking going on, I do admire you!

Movement in all classes was hard to assess, as the slippery, multi lined floor spooked most of the exhibits. I understand that the show will be moving to a different venue next year, as I would definitely recommend the use of mats at this one.

Presentation was, on the whole good, although some exhibits would benefit from more attention to trimming of feet.

Puppy (1)

1st Welburn Mr P & Mrs N’s Oshowa Just a Dream

Pretty b/b bitch. 6mths. Very raw at but has all the essentials at this age. Nice dark eye and length of neck. Good forehand angulation and bend of stifle. Needs to tighten in front. I’m sure this will come with age. Happy slashing tail action. Appeared to be enjoying her day out!

Junior (4,1)

1st Taylor Mrs L’s Wansleydale Honey Bee

Cracking tri bitch, just 13mths. Loved her correctly proportioned head and dark eye, giving a melting expression. Nicely arched, clean neck into super forehand, excels in depth of chest. Good width between shoulder, well off for spring of rib. Strong over the loins. Nice bend of stifle, bone and feet. Level topline and well muscled. Silky textured coat and beautifully presented as one would expect from this kennel. One I would definitely like to take home! Pushed hard for BOB but just lost out on maturity. R.BO.B

2nd Corfield, Corfield, Derry & Schoneville, Mrs J, Miss V, Mrs A & Mrs I’s Balvenie Loch Maree

15mth O/B bitch. Nicely proportioned head and neck. Dark eye. Good reach of neck and shoulder angulation. Well off for spring of rib and tail set. Feet would have benefitted from more trimming. More together than 3 in terms of maturity and the overall picture. Hopefully she will in time grow some more coat.

3rd Welburn Mr P & Mrs N’s Oshowa Love to Dream

B.P. Litter sister to winner of puppy class and very little to choose between the two. Just preferred lighter markings of this one.

Yearling (3, 1)

Repeat Junior

Post Grad (2)

1st Whitehouse, Mrs A & Mr A’s Teasmade Summer Evening (Imp Swe)

2 y/o B/B/T bitch Sweet head of correct proportions and with a dark eye. Well-constructed forehand. Good spring of rib and depth of chest. Well off for bone. Strong over the loins.

2nd Welburn Mr P & Mrs N’s Oshowa Dream Come True

Another lovely B/B bitch 3 y/o. Preferred head shape and shoulder angulation of 1. Kind dark eye. Well off for bone, feet and depth of chest. Good tailset.

Open Dog (1)

1st Hopper’s Bramstorm Forest Sprite

8 y/o O/B dog with a nice, balanced shape to him. Dark eye. Good forehand, depth of chest and width between shoulder blades. Well off for bone and correct tailset. Really not happy on the move.

Open Bitch (4,1)

Two lovely B/B bitches headed this class. Both very different in type.

1st Seaman Mrs B.K’s Mariglen Indigo

Compact 3 y/o B/B Has plenty of stop and depth of muzzle with kind dark eye. Would prefer more length of muzzle and corresponding length from stop to occiput. Clean, nicely arched neck. Excellent shoulder angulation, depth of chest and bend of stifle. Very good bone and the best feet of all today’s exhibits. Very well balanced overall and in gleaming coat and hard condition. Moved accurately despite the floor. B.O.B

2nd Bryant, Bryant & Hollis’s Phenset Sparks Will Fly

Elegant 7 y/o dark B/B A real credit to her owner. Beautiful feminine head, good reach of neck and shoulder angulation with a nice deep chest but somewhat finer and longer in loin than 1. Good topline and tailset. Coat on the blow.

3rd Welburn Mr P & Mrs N’s Culverwell Seabreeze at Oshowa
