Bournemouth Canine Association – 2024 Championship Show

Siberian Huskies - Judge : Ian Sinclair

Would firstly like to thank Sally & the Bournemouth team for inviting me to give my first set of CCs at your wonderful “Summer” show & boy was it a hot one. My two stewards kept things moving & kept me on track despite the heat & I thank them for that. I would also like to thank everyone who entered under me, what a great entry of quality Siberians I had to go over even if the majority had no coats, I did have to nit pick on many decisions & there were a few especially in the bitch classes that had to go home empty handed. The heat played a massive part in both the Challenges, where movement in some dogs fell apart, I tried my best to take this into consideration but a couple who were maybe in line for a green card just missed out. I think the main areas which I believe we need to watch out for, as most will already agree, are straight shoulders, lack of slope on the pasterns or both, tails may be set well but we had a few too long which curled over the back or like a cork screw and finally a number of males were too fine making them look too feminine. The last two points although I am sure would not effect their working ability do detract for the beauty in our breed.

PD (2,0) 1st. Smith & March, Trailhunters Mr Tor. 10 months old grey boy who is coming on well but very immature as to be expected. The basics are heading in the right direction (head, angulation etc) Just needs everything to grow. 2. Spratley, Siberiadrift Howlaween, Another 10 month dilute black and white but slightly more mature than 1. Still in coat which was of the correct texture, nice head with blue almond shaped eyes. Good angulation although appeared a little wide on the move.

JD (1,0) 1st. Wakker’s Komaksiut’s Glen Devon Av Ratatuyak At Ceannabeinne : 15 month old Dilute Black and White boy, lovely standard looking Sibe. Nice head with almond shaped eye, good ear size and carriage. Front and rear well balanced, really nice length of leg which made for powerful movement. Not sure what he was doing with his tail on occasion. One to watch once matured a little more.

PGD (3,0) 1st. Johnston, Snoopeerz Newton At Losttrail : 6 year old very flashy black and white boy, gorgeous head with correct almond eyes (blue) nice ears well set. Nice bone without being overly heavy. Angulation is balanced, topline held level with sloping croup, movement in the class was ok however unfortunately let himself down in the challenge, I would suggest struggling with the heat which was a shame.

2nd. Biddlecombe Tsaritsa’s Apollo, 3yr old white boy who I judged when he was a puppy. Nice to see him maturing well, well balanced with correct angulation, Level topline with arch over loin & sloping croup. Very close to winning the class but just preferred 1 on the day.

3rd. Shelford Polarquest Queens Company.

LD (3,0) 1st. McInnes Inneska Malachite, Dark Grey/White 4yr old boy very understated. Lovely masculine head with correct eye and ear placement, balance movement & held level topline. Moved nicely around the ring with drive.

2nd. Snelson Azgard Monticristo at Ashtrax, lovely looking Pie with nice amount of bone & no question about him being a male. Well-muscled, good drive & held his topline on the move. Very close decision but I just preferred the head on 1 which is slightly more chiselled.

3rd. Hart’s Zawkkast Ex Lax

OD (8,0) 1st. Snelson’s Salazka’s Mr Abernathy at Ashtrax. Black and white dog nearly 7 year old with such a lovely head, good size and correctly set ears, nice almond shaped brown eyes which gives him a cheeky but gentle expression. Good front and rear angulation, nice deep chest with good tuck, correct pasterns all helping towards him being hands down best mover in dogs today showing power & grace gliding around the ring. Very much a marmite dog due to his colouring but looking through this and you find an excellent example of the breed, so pleased to award him his 3rd and crowning DCC.

2nd. Wakker’s Shaytaan’s Winter Soldier at Ceannabeinne. 6 year old white dog, masculine head with features of correct size and placement. Balanced angulation, level topline leading to sloping croup with good tail carriage, well-muscled. Correct chest, nice tuck, lots of drive & flowing movement and overall another excellent example of the breed, DRCC.

3rd. Smith & March, Trailhunters Tsutey.

SBD/SBB (5,0) 1st. Toomer’s Aloustairs Big Surprise With Shaali. 5yr old Black and White bitch who I have been waiting to judge again since last seeing her as a puppy and very pleased to say she does not disappoint. She is on the lower end in height but still well within the standard. Very feminine foxy head with correct eye and ear set, balanced angulation, level topline, good tail carriage. One who probably struggled with the heat in the challenge but overall a very nice young lady.

2nd. Lawes & Doggrell, Mysticwolf Shining Star over Wintersleigh. Another very pretty little bitch who is 20mths old and I am sure with do well. Correct almond eyes (blue), good ear size and carriage giving her a cheeky expression. Angulation correct front and rear , held her topline and had a good length of stride on the move.

3rd. Evan’s Forstal’s Polyanthus.

PB (4,1). Wow three 10 month old sisters all very similar and all very nice, splitting hairs to judge this one.

1st . Mile’s Trailhunters Ryders Rock at Pekakicali. Grey girl with nice head, eyes correct and ears not too big for a puppy. Everything coming together nicely. Out of the 3 she had the better front and tail and just had the edge on movement.

2nd. Platt’s Trailhunters Vixen Tor in Wightflight. Grey bitch very similar to 1, slightly longer in the leg and tail although set well was a little long spoiling her profile, but still a puppy at the end of the day,

3rd. Smith & March, Trailhunters Blakely Tor

JB (1,0) 1st Smith & March, Forstal’s Puki at Trailhunters 15month old dilute black and white bitch. Nice head with inquisitive expression, angulation ok & moved well. Tail curled a little too much for my liking but overall a nice young lady.

PGB (11,1) 1st.  Platt’s Keriquel Heart and Soul of Wightflight. Absolutely loved this 2 year old grey girl. Typical foxy head with soft expression, excellent balanced angulation & probably one of the best fronts of the day. Lovely length of leg which helped propel her around the ring with drive & purpose, it really was a close thing in the challenge.

2nd. Smith & March, Keriquel Roving Jewel at Trailhunters, sister to 1. & many of the same attributes, Just preferred the leg length on 1. Out of coat (as were so many) which left nothing to hide. Lovely put together standard Siberian.

3rd. Shelford’s Ceannabeinne Fortysmiles at Polarquest.

LB (11,0) 1st . John’s Azgard Kastella for Alepenkye, Black & White 4 ½ year old bitch, Lovely feminine head with soft brown eyes giving a sweet expression. Really need to get your hands on this girl, at first glance she is a “nice” example of the breed but once you get your hands on you realise how good her front is & how balanced overall she is. Moved nice in the class but was another suffering from the heat in the challenge. I did like this girl and on another “cooler” day who knows.

2nd, Biddlecombe’s Tsaritsa’s Oettinger Grey 4yr old standard fitting bitch. Lovely feminine head, good all round construction, well-muscled. Didn’t move quite aswell as 1.

3rd. Brown’s Keriquel Honeylight at pocketsibes

OB (8,0) 1st. Jones-Coia, Icynights Devils Desire. Coming up to 5 years old this dilute black and white girl is the epitome of a standard fitting Siberian Husky Bitch. I judged her last 2 years ago where I awards her BOB and all I can say is she is even better now. Feminine Head with correct eye shape & placement, ears not too big and set high. Neck medium length & nicely arched. Front and rear angulation well balanced with correct length of leg. Level topline leading to slightly sloping croup with good tail placement carried well. She absolutely glides around the ring in unison with her handler. Well-deserved BCC & BOB.

2nd Brown’s Zarchenski Taboo Zilp at Pocketsibes. 5yr old grey bitch and another one who I judged 2 years ago & another one who has only got better in those 2 years. She is more of a complete package & everything seems to have come together. Very standard fitting sibe with correct length of neck, length of leg in proportion to body with nice pasterns. Level top line held on the move. So pleased to give her BRCC today, well deserved.

3rd. Platt’s Wightflight Einich

VB. (5,1) 1st. McInnes Ch Hushwing Happy Feet At Inneska. Finally get my hands on this young 9yr old lady & well worth the wait. Dark Grey, blue eyed girl with excellent head & cheeky expression. Nice bone overall, good balanced confirmation, nice length of leg & good tail carriage, moved well in what was now a very hot afternoon.

2nd. Shelford, Ch Joy Av Vargevass at Polarquest. Another 9yr old bitch in lovely condition. Excellent head with almond eyes and nicely placed correct sized ears. Good balanced angulation, level topline held on the move, good tail carried well. Pushed 1 all the way.

3rd. Tapper & Leyland, Shaytaan’s White Rhino at Kedakita
