SCOTTISH BREEDS CANINE CLUB 30 MARCH 2024

GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge at this lovely friendly show. Some dogs struggled a little on the move as the corners of the ring were a little tight which was unfortunate as some exhibitors and their dogs had to compete to have their feet on the mats. I was disappointed to find a few incorrect bites in the younger classes and feel this is something that needs to be watched. Thank you to my stewards Elaine and Mary who assisted with the smooth running of my ring.

MINOR PUPPY DOG (6,1)

1st Grainger’s Brekswood Gentleman Jack - Balanced compact dog who appealed for breed type, masculine head with dark eye and melting expression, clean neck into excellent front assembly, straight forelegs leading to tight feet, good depth of chest and spring of ribs for age, well bent stifle, in good coat, moved well with a level topline. BPD & BPIB

2nd Scott & Briggs’ Largymore Ravagier – Happy dog who appealed for breed type, lovely head and expression, clean neck into well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs leading to round feet, correct body proportions for age, in lovely coat, moved with drive.

3rd Cuthill’s Messano Pop Master of Mousseglen

JUNIOR DOG (7,4)

1st Middlemiss & Brown’s Harmarjoy You’re My Love – Pleasing dog with a masculine head and kind expression, dark eye, clean neck, tight feet, good spring of rib, well bent stifle, level topline, moved soundly with correct tail carriage.

2nd Mcdonald’s Lamancha Take A Chance – Larger framed dog with a masculine head but I would prefer just a tadge more width to muzzle, with intelligent expression and dark eye, strong neck into well placed shoulders but would prefer more length of upper arm, deep chested, well sprung ribs, in good coat, well bent stifle, moved soundly.

3rd Warden’s Holinbrae Zoom Time at Glentochty

YEARLING DOG (7,2)

1st Webster’s Kulawand Skies of Blue over Benjcroft – Balanced dog who appealed for breed type, lovely head and expression, excellent pigmentation, strong neck into correct front assembly, deep chested, well sprung ribs, well bent stifles, level topline, moved well but gives his handler a hard time.

2nd Racic & Weber’s Glamour Shine Tesoro – Pleasing balanced dog with intelligent expression, clean neck into well placed shoulders, straight forelegs, would prefer tighter feet, deep chested, well sprung ribs, well bent stifle, moved ok but needs to settle on the move.

3rd Mcdonald’s Lamancha Take A Chance

NOVICE DOG (7,1)

1st Scott & Briggs’ Largymore Ravagier – As Before

2nd Towers & Henderson’s Baricia Bella Divino – This dog appealed for his outline, masculine head and kind expression, clean neck into well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs leading to cat like feet, good depth of chest and spring of rib for age, short loin, well bent stifle, unfortunately he was carrying a tadge too much weight which affected his topline, moved soundly.

3rd Macleod’s Bluebraes Bidey in at Rocamar

1st Law’s Sandti Back of The Net – Loved the overall shape and balance of this dog, masculine head with an intelligent expression, strong neck into correct front assembly, straight forelegs leading to round feet, deep chested, well sprung ribs, moved with reach and drive, the handler just needs to practice with him as he is a lovely boy.

This is a bigger dog than the two in front of him. He has good length of leg to balance him overall.

LIMIT DOG (10,2)

1st Haxton’s Dantassie Double Take – This dog just stood out for me, so balanced, appealed for his outline and breed type, masculine head with the kindest of expression and dark eye, clean neck into well placed shoulders, straight forelegs leading to tight feet, deep chested, good spring of ribs, short loin, well bent stifle, excellent topline which he held on the move, correct tailset and tail carriage, moved with reach and drive and effortlessly around the ring to win this class and the DCC. I heard the next day that it was his second CC and I hope that his third will not be too long coming.

2nd McGeoch’s Nedlezah Lochlea – A dog that I have liked before and was unfortunate to come up against the winner of this class, balanced dog with a masculine head and intelligent expression, clean neck into well laid back shoulders, straight forelegs leading to round feet, deep chested, well sprung ribs, short loin, well bent stifle, level topline which he held on the move, moved soundly but lacked drive today.
