PAIGNTON & DISTRICT FANCIERS ASSOCIATION 1/8/24

I would like to thank the Officers and committee of PDFA for their invitation to judge the Special Beginners Groups at this well run friendly show and for the warm welcome that I received.

DAY ONE

TERRIER GROUP – SPECIAL BEGINNERS

1st: Hampton’s Travella Steel A Kiss - FOX TERRIER (WIRE) – Bitch who appealed for breed type and balance in excellent harsh coat of good colour, feminine long lean narrow head, good body proportions, beautifully presented and handled well and moved out purposely.

2nd: Blake’s Llanstaffs The One - STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER - Feminine pleasing head with correct small ears and forecheeks, good depth of chest, stands on balanced well boned legs, good drive from muscular rear end.

3rd: Wilkinson & Wakeham’s Kaszavolgyi Furge Nice Olga For Wakywilks (imp Hun) - JACK RUSSELL TERRIER. Balanced lively bitch with good head, level back with short strong loin, muscular rear end, move soundly.

4th: Ward’s Littlemount Celyn Y Mor - NORFOLK TERRIER. Masculine dog who presented a pleasing outline, in excellent harsh coat, such a happy dog, moved out with an easy stride.

WORKING GROUP – SPECIAL BEGINNERS

1st: Cox’s Gertlush Nimueh For Rainwilds - BULLMASTIFF – Bitch who appealed for her outline, feminine head of good proportions, good depth of chest, well off for bone, moved so soundly and effortlessly round the ring.

2nd: Sharkey’s Jantonely Zingalong Baloo – LEONBERGER. Masculine head with a nice dark eye, strong neck which flows through to good forequarters, well boned forelegs, deep chested, strong loin, covered the ground well on the move.

3rd: Griffiths’ Kensesqui Don't Need Nobody – ROTTWEILER. Clean balanced dog with a masculine head with a lovely dark eye and gentle expression, good depth of chest and spring of ribs, moved out well with a true stride.

4th: Hannan’s Vukasin A Feast For Crows - SIBERIAN HUSKY. Feminine bitch who presented a balanced outline, good body proportions, moved out with reach and drive.

PASTORAL GROUP – SPECIAL BEGINNERS

1st: Cutts’ Haresfoot Fates Align JW NBT - WELSH CORGI (PEMBROKE) – Good masculine head with a pleasing shape, good bone, clean neck, well spung ribs, moderate rear end, in lovely coat and he moved out well.

2nd: Stevens’ Makaylen Master Of Scotch - OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG. Masculine dog has good head and body proportions, in excellent coat, handled and presented well. Moved out soundly

3rd: Steele’s Rocpen Juro Twill - BEARDED COLLIE. Feminine bitch presented a balanced outline and appealed for breed type, good head and body proportions, held a level top line on the move, moved out with reach and drive.

4th: Jaskolski’s Piece Of Happiness Mickey Jw (imp Hun) - BORDER COLLIE. Another dog that was balanced and was well presented, masculine head of good proportions and used his ears, clean neck, he held his shape on the move, where he moved out with the typical smooth stride and correct tail carriage, in excellent coat.

DAY TWO

GUNDOG GROUP - SPECIAL BEGINNERS

1st : Goodwins’ Mcfarwins Flashing Lights - RETRIEVER (LABRADOR) Bitch that appealed for breed type and shape, lovely feminine head, good body proportions and lovely coat, moved out with reach and drive, well handled and stood with an ever wagging tail.

2nd : Henderson’s When I Was Your Man Black Lofty (shcex) (imp Pol) - GORDON SETTER – Dog, another that appealed for breed type with masculine head of good proportions and correct markings, good length of neck, well angulated fore and aft, held his topline on the move, presented and handled well and strode out on an easy stride.

3rd : Doyle’s Bracciano Never Too Late - BRACCO ITALIANO – Dog, just six months old, this well-balanced boy is already showing great promise, he has a bright future ahead I’m sure, head and body proportions right for his age, good bend of stifle, handled so well, will watch his future with interest.

4th : Nubert’s Tollerways Uruz Lifeforce - RETRIEVER (NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING) Eight months old bitch with pleasing wedge shape head and intelligent expression with correct body proportions for age, in excellent coat and moved soundly.

TOY GROUP - SPECIAL BEGINNERS

1st: Dean- Armitt’s Twowayshouse Touch Of Class - ENGLISH TOY TERRIER (BLACK & TAN) – Compact bitch that appealed for breed type, balance and shape. Lovely clean outline feminine head with lovely dark eye and good use of ears, good body proportions, moved well.

2nd: Cregg’s Edkbangels Zennia – POMERANIAN. Feminine bitch of larger size, with attractive head, good eyes and ears, balanced front and rear, in profuse coat, good tail carriage and set, moved out smartly.

3rd: Poole’s Kocho Shooting Star – PEKINGESE. Nine months old bitch gave a lot away, feminine broad head, good width of chest, tight elbows, level topline strong well boned forelegs, moved typically with personality

4th: Voutsis’ Cotonkiss Flower Girl - COTON DE TULÉAR. Feminine bitch who presented a pleasing outline, nice head and skull with good dark eye and nose, correct topline and tailset, coat of correct texture, moved soundly.

DAY THREE

HOUND GROUP - SPECIAL BEGINNERS

1st: Collins’ Crosscop Glitter In The Air For Tecstravan - WHIPPET – Bitch, liked her shape, nothing overdone, pleasing head with correct ears, neat lip, good body proportions handled well, lithe and positive on the move.

2nd: Dane & Guernari’s Cynetkoy’s Tinker Tailor - BASSET GRIFFON VENDEEN (PETIT) - Happy dog with a lovely head and expression, medium back, good bend of stifle, held his top line on the move, in excellent coat, moved soundly.

3rd: Strauja & Price’s Chioke For Zeri By Ridgelove - RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK - Eight month old dog who is so together for his age, good head and body proportions handled kindly, move true. 4th: Jackson’s Hototo's Speculator - DACHSHUND (WIRE-HAIRED) - Balanced mature bitch presenting an elegant and firm outline, long ribs, filled loin, stood on good legs and feet and moved out well.

UTILITY GROUP - SPECIAL BEGINNERS

1st: Simpson’s Rominjay Love Story – AKITA. This 10 month old dog took my eye immediately for his breed type and shape, masculine head, good body proportions, he gave his handler a hard time but was handled sympathetically and moved out with reach and drive.

2nd: Harvey’s Kerfkooiker Gynn – KOOIKERHONDJE. Dog that had a clean outline and was balanced, good body proportions and excellent coat, moved out freely.

3rd: Adam-Slomkowski’s Frank Dreamed A Dream At Skylax - LHASA APSO. 11 months old dog in excellent coat, masculine head, clean neck into good lay of shoulder, well handled, moved out well.

4th: Moorcroft’s Amorevita Uranus JW - MINIATURE SCHNAUZER – Dog, loved his shape, has a good head and body proportions and correct furnishings, just needs to settle on the move but moved soundly.
