Belfast Dog Show Society – Pekingese Thank you to the Belfast Dog Show Society for inviting me to be the replacement judge today. Although the entry was small today due to no doubt additional costs like ferry, fuel, etc., I was pleased with my principal winners and was glad to award the crowning CCs to both the male and female. I wish them all the best of luck in the future. OD 1) Heap, Heap & Ransome’s Shiera D’Artagnan, 5 years old, a beautiful-sized pale red dog who was beautifully presented. Lovely broad, shallow head. Large round dark eyes, excellent nose placement with wide open nostrils. Excellent width of muzzle and finish of mouth. Correct ear set, lovely broad chest, short thick forelegs with large round feet. Excellent level topline, good barrel ribcage, and sound rear. Excellent high tail set. He moved very well, using the whole ring. He picks up well for his size and has an excellent temperament. He looked a picture free stood. DCC. 2) Leonard’s Witchstone Ace of Spades, a young 18-month-old dog, with a super red brindle coat. Slightly bigger than the winner, but still a lovely size, he had a lovely head, not quite the width of the winner yet. He had a lovely expression, large round dark eyes, excellent nose placement and nostrils, ok finish of mouth, could be a little firmer in the chin, width of the chest was good, but could be a little broader, lovely short, thick legs, excellent level topline and super high tail set, good rear and moved well. He was in beautiful condition and shown to his advantage by his handler. RDCC. 3) Keegan’s IR CH Blevwil High Royal Highness at Pankoo. PB 1) Heap’s Shiera Discordia, 6-month-old baby at her first show. Pretty pale red with half mask, excellent large round dark eyes, excellent nose placement with open nostrils, lovely finish of mouth, lovely width of chest for size, nice short forelegs, large barrel ribcage, excellent level topline, high tail set and nice rear. Presented in beautiful condition and moved well once she settled herself. BPIB. LB 1) Rogers’ Ralshams Lady Ma Donna, 20-month-old clear red bitch. My star of the day! Exactly the type of girl I love. A beautiful open face, large round dark eyes, super nose placement with open nostrils, good finish of mouth with a broad muzzle. Excellent ear placement emphasized by her super ear fringing which helped frame her face. Fantastic width of chest, short thick forelegs, huge barrel ribcage, with an excellent level topline. She had a lovely high tail set and a very sound rear. She has plenty of bone and picks up extremely heavy for her size. Beautiful coat presentation and texture. I was so pleased to have gotten my hands on her. BCC and BOB. OB 1) Graham & Barron’s Pekamore My Darling Kathleen, almost 3 years old, grey brindle girl, smaller in type than the BCC winner, lovely presentation, and good coat texture. Large round dark eyes, excellent nose placement, and open nostrils. Firm underjaw, nice chest but could benefit from more width, nice short forelegs, lovely level topline, excellent high tail set, good barrel ribcage, sound rear, picks up ok, but could have a little more bone. Lovely temperament and was handled very sympathetically by her handler. RBCC. Judge – Henry Stanley
