National Dog Show - 10/05/2024

Many thanks to the National for the invite to judge Polish Lowland Sheepdogs. An entry of 12 which seems to be roughly the normal these days, it was heartening to see a new exhibitor. I was pleased with all my winners, thank you for the entries.

Polish Lowland Sheepdogs

Puppy dog - (1, 0a)

1 - Squires – Mybeards Starstruck

Quality 9 mth old with a super head & expression, well off for bone, correctly angulated forequarters. Loved his shape, good breadth over the loin, strong well angulated quarters, short croup, neat well let down hocks. Well presented in lovely coat. Moved well when he settled. I’m sure he has a bright future ahead I was pleased to award him BP

Limit Dog (1,0a)

1 - Burdett-Coutts - Leon Astarte Gold Ama Me at Chrevle (imp Pol)

Impressive 2yr old looked a picture standing. Good skull & foreface, expressive eyes. Lovely reach of neck, well defined withers , clean well angulated shoulders. Level topline and correct height to length proportions, strong well angulated quarters. Low set hocks which he used to cover the ring with ease. Carrying a full harsh coat, immaculate presentation he fills the eye. Pleased to award him the CC & he pulled out all the stops in the challenge to take BOB

Open Dog (2, 0a)

1 – Hilliers Ch Mybeards Zip A.I

Judged this one as a youngster and he has matured into a very pleasing dog. Well put together with a good head, loved his gentle expression. Good length of neck leading into well angulated shoulders. Nicely proportioned, level topline carry a harsh jacket. Moved with drive, well presented and handled. Pleased to award him the RCC

2 – Naylors - Skaijak’s Great N’Gallant

A well made dog with a pleasing head, nice length of neck. Plenty of bone, good depth of chest. Has a level topline and carrying a nicely textured jacket. Strong quarters well angulated. Would have just liked a little bit more length of leg. Moved well around the ring

Veteran Dog (1,0a)

1 – Crosiers Skaijak Bright & Bubbly

7 yr old pleasing dog with a lovely expression and gentle expressive eyes. In proportion for his size, neat shoulders, nice spring of rib, good hindquarters, low set hocks. Carry a nicely textured coat of a delightful colour. Moved well, would have just liked a little more of him. He was unable to compete against the veteran bitch as he had a nosebleed. Glad to hear he was ok.

Puppy B(1, 0a)

1 – Mottram’s Mybeards Starshine

Litter sister to the puppy dog and so little between them. Lovely broad head and expression, strong foreface & muzzle. Good shoulder angulation, well off for bone. Level topline, correctly angulated quarters, moved well around the ring. A tough decision between this one and her brother, in the end he was just slightly shorter in length for me.

Post Grad Bitch (1, 0a)

1 – Crosiers Skaijaks Kind N Clasic

A pretty bitch of 20 mths old, a good size with a lovely head and expression, nice length of neck, straight front and clean angulated forequarters. Good spring of rib, level topline held on the move, carrying a nicely textured jacket. Covered the ring well just a little loose behind but will tighten with age.

Open B (3, 0a)

1 - Naylors Ch Skaijak Ickle & Illiustrious

This was a sound , honest female, who didn’t put a foot wrong. She has a lovely head with dark eyes and a kind expression. Medium neck leading into well angulated shoulders, plenty of substance yet feminine. Well muscled quarters, low set hocks which she used to move with drive fore & aft around the ring. Well handled, pleased to award her the CC

2 – Maciagiewicz – Dk Ch Akc Grand Ch Ni Ch Swiss Viva Polonia Szyszka

A lovely quality, female well put together all in proportion, nice head, sweet expression. Correctly angulated shoulders, straight front, nice spring of rib. Well angulated rear with short croup. Coat of a nice length & texture but a little sparse due to recent maternal duties . Moved well but would have like a little more drive.

Coles – Ir Ch Acaviste pon Cenna

Veteran B (2,0a)

1 – Burdett-Coutts - Tarnica’s Dior at Chervle (Imp Che)

Always liked this one, now 8 yrs old and nice to see her back in the ring in such good condition. Loved her broad head, muzzle & foreface. Good length of neck leading into well angulated shoulders, plenty of bone, good spring of rib. Strong quarters, moved with ease around the ring. Pleased to award her Best veteran

2 – Shrives – Int Ch Ir ch Ni Ch Lux Ch Swiss Bel Dk Ch Mybeards Hope – A feminine female with a nice head and sweet expression. Nicely angulated shoulders, level topline, neat quarters. Harsh textured coat, moved ok, didn’t seem as animated on the move as she normally does.
