120th Anniversary Championship Show – Special Awards

6th October 2024

It was an honour to judge the Special Awards at the 120th Anniversary Show of the Clumber Spaniel Club. After 42 years of growing up and living with the breed I felt the time had finally come to step up to the judging side of the showing world.

I would like to thank all those who entered under me and the officers and committee for a superb day and show. Special thanks to my two ring stewards Ian Layfield and John Newsham who kept the ring running smoothly and efficiently.

Special Awards Puppy Dog or Bitch

1: Nicholson & Risk’s KNOCKHALON SPOOKTACULAR OF TARANSTIGH, 11-month-old Dog. A well-balanced dog, clean eyes and ears and lovely expression. Scissor bite, good depth of chest and well-sprung ribs. Level topline with correct tail set. Strong movement fore and aft and maintains his topline on the move. Well-presented and one to watch in the future.

2: Furnell’s BEBECOVA CHARISMA, 7-month-old Bitch. A lovely looking girl, whose confidence will increase as she ages. Clean eyes and ears, lovely topline and tail set. Well boned with a good reach of neck and level top line. She has a scissor bite, good length of body and looked sound on the move. I look forwarding to watching this youngster develop.

Special Awards Junior Dog or Bitch

1: Boden’s SUELYNDA BOOM BANG A BANG (Dog) As expected from this kennel a well-presented dog. A beautiful expression with clean amber eyes and correct head shape. Well boned and large tight feet. Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs leading to a strong loin. Balanced outline, level top line which he held on the move and correct tail set.

2: Dawson’s BESKERBY FLORA FINCHING (Bitch) A lovely typical bitch that caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. Beautiful expression and eyes with a scissor bite. A balanced outline with correct movement, well-muscled and not overdone. Good length with correct tail set, deep chest and well sprung ribs.

Special Awards Post Graduate Dog or Bitch

1: Taylor’s DELSEAUX FLY ME TO THE MOON (Bitch) A typey bitch, with beautiful expression and outline. Clean eyes and ear with scissor bite. Although not as flashy as some, she is of sound construction, well boned and moved well in the ring maintaining her top line. Another with correct feet and a very pleasing example of the breed.

2: Fenwick, Thompson & Langridge’s BADGERSMOON THE MOST WANTED (Dog) A pleasing dog who is of type. He has a masculine head, clean ears and eyes. Balanced outline and well boned. Well presented with a silky coat.

Special Awards Open Dog or Bitch

1: Boden’s SH CH SUELYNDA KREME DELLA KREME (Bitch) A beautifully presented bitch, who has plenty of ring presence. Feminine and conforming to breed type, with correct head, eyes and ears and a beautiful expression. She has a level top line and correct tail set. Well boned, good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Sound, positive movement.
