NORTH OF ENGLAND ROTTWEILER CLUB 3.2.2024 JUDGE : Graham Cruse ( Australia )

Thank you so much to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge at the first Championship show of the NOERC, such a great honour for me. Thank you also to all the exhibitors for a great entry of 95 dogs and also for being sporting, courteous and kind to your fellow exhibitors. This made for a great day that we can all look back on with fond memories and a smile.

DOGS

MPD ( 1 )

1st. Orr’s Tikaram Tommy Shelby. Promising young male, Just 7 months. He has a very good head type, strong muzzle with depth and masculine expression. Correct double coat, good topline, he has very good bone and a super dark tan. Excellent temperament and character.

PD (5)

Close decision between first and second place as they are both very promising puppies. I would prefer a little less hind angulation on the winner, but would prefer a little more angulation on the second place. Somewhere in-between would have been ideal for them both.

1st Chaffe’s Rougeau Luis. 10 mths, he has a very good head type with dark eyes and masculine expression, which ultimately won him the class. Has a lovely clean flow of neck into shoulder and level topline. Well made front with good forechest, medium bone and substance, beautiful dark mahogany markings. Moved well for a puppy. BPD.

2nd Courtney-Baughan’s Jhava Black Magic over Whisperdown. Also 10 mths, he has a masculine head and expression, with a medium brown eye colour. He is a more compact male, balanced front and rear with moderate angulation. Very good substance and body, good double coat and level topline.

3rd Seittor Magic Spell with Kelijaygo

JD (5)

1st Dunhill-Hall’s Ch. Teigan Jedi by Fantasa. 16 mths super quality male, one of those males that defines the word Stalwart. He has a strong masculine head and expression, thick muscular neck running into well laid shoulders. Has a great level topline, deep chest and body. He has good width of thighs and is muscular, powerful and strong throughout. Excellent dark mahogany markings, strong bone throughout. For preference I would prefer a touch more length of leg, but he still moves with great reach and drive.

2nd Steel & Mulhall’s Darkamar Tobias, another lovely male of 15mths. He has a very good masculine head and expression. Nicely balanced body with level topline. He has a good depth of chest, very good bone and excellent feet. Moved very well with reach and drive.

3rd Egerton & Sutcliffe’s Bereyda The Real Defender.

YD (1)

1st Abell’s Nageem Cukier. 21 mths male. He has a correct scissor bite, eyes are dark but I would prefer them to be tighter and more almond in shape. Good level topline, excellent double coat with good texture, moved ok.

PGD (5)

1st Greener’s Rhodilea Celtic Warrior. 2 year old male, has a very good head and expression. Good front and rear construction, has a strong level topline and correct double coat or good texture. Totally fixated with his handler and misbehaved, but moved well when he got going.

2nd Rogerson’s Taneven Acreed. Almost 4 years old. He has a very good head type and expression with dark eyes. Level topline, moderate bone and substance. Hind movement is ok, quite short in upper arm therefore lacks reach in front.

3rd Cookson’s Darkarmar Super Trouper.

LD (12)

1st Mason’s Alkido’s Ludicrous. 2 yr old lovely male, he has a masculine head and expression. Well balanced in front and rear, with good turn of stifle. Muscular throughout with correct level topline. Carries himself well and moves steadily with reach, drive and a good steady balanced trot. His carriage and reach in front gave him the advantage over the rest of the class.

2nd Window’s Hanbar Frankel, almost 3 yrs, another lovely male with a masculine head and expression. Correct bite and mouth, although would prefer mouth pigment to be a bit darker. Nicely balanced, compact body, level topline, Correct double coat, good mover.

3rd Moss’ Chantavory’s One and Only.

OD (7)

1st Bateson & Hoole’s Ch. Upmont Al Capone. 3 years old, very well balanced male with masculine head. He has great front and rear assembly and his owners have him in super hard muscular condition, which shows in his movement. Super level topline, great double coat, in super condition, moved well with reach and drive.

2nd Dunhill-Hall’s Ozel of Torma House Fantasa (imp SRB). 2.5 yrs old, very nice male, he has a great head type and expression, very well balanced body, medium tan markings. Topline is nice and level on the stack, but does not hold up on the move. Also not quite in full coat today.

3rd Powell’s Varenka Silver Arrow for Riversrock.

ChD (3)

Although there were only 2 dogs present in this class they are both excellent examples of the breed. I just felt that for my preference, the winner had more masculinity and substance to take the class.

1st Dunhill-Hall’s Ch. Fantasa Lucky Strike. 2 years old, stunning male who totally defines the meaning of the word Stalwart. Beautiful head type, masculine with dark almond eyes, which create a lovely calm gaze. Correct bite & mouth. He has a great front with deep chest, well sprung ribs, solid muscular body, level topline, dark mahogany markings. very good hind angulation with width of thigh and strength. Moved with reach and drive to take the very well deserved Dog CC.

2nd Bateson’s Ch. Upend Blade. 5 years old, another truly lovely male who again had a great head and expression, dark eyes and lovely calm gaze. He was well up on his toes with very good feet, and gave the winner a run for his money. Good balanced front and rear, beautifully marked with dark mahogany markings. Effortless mover with great reach and drive. Well deserved Res. CC.

VD (1)

1st Beach’s Seittor Juno. 8 year old male who entered the ring with vigour, enthusiasm and very good movement. He has a super clean outline and great level topline. Dark expressive eyes, correct bite, happy outgoing temperament. A credit to his owner.
