What an honour it was to step on to the green carpet to judge my heart breed on Thursday 7th March 2024. With nearly 35 years experience in the breed and with accolades in our kennel that I thought were only a distant dream in our early years it was a joy and pleasure to have the privilege to judge at the biggest dog show in the world, the famous Crufts. The five year old me who obsessively watched Crufts which sparked inspiration to step into what is now a huge passion of mine, especially in Papillons, would be so proud of the special moment I experienced judging on the green carpet at the NEC, Birmingham.

My heart felt thank you to Crufts Chairman Tom Mather and the Crufts judges committee for inviting me to officiate Papillons at your show and my eighth appointment awarding CC’s in the breed.

Gratitude to all of the exhibitors for your wonderful entry. I was and still am absolutely delighted with my total entry of 182 in the current climate of ‘world affairs’ (which will hopefully turn a positive corner in the near future) and especially being situated in the working week this year. Your commitment as exhibitors both financially and in time on a Thursday is truly appreciated and I hope you enjoyed your special day on the green carpet at this special show.

Overall I was pleased with the quality of exhibits and I am pleased to say I feel we are finally getting back to the correct Papillon head from what I experienced in this entry of overseas and UK dogs, with 1:3 muzzle length to 2:3 skull length in comparison to the last time I judged nearly 5 years ago. The pretty and dainty butterfly dog was evident in most of my class winners throughout which was wonderful to see. One of the keys to this pretty Papillon head is the stipulated detail in the breed standard where it calls for the above correct ratios and a well defined stop which then in turn accentuates the rise in skull by which negating the ‘ski slope’ effect, into a long nose and almost down faced. This can be witnessed by judging the dog from the side profile on the table and this incorrect yet what some may call ‘type’ can ruin the pretty expression of the Papillon and leave a more ‘snipey’ and narrow look to our breed and almost mimicking alternative toy breeds. Overall, movement was good and there were some sound exhibits which was pleasing to see.

Ears are where we need to focus on what is actually correct and called for in the breed standard. One aspect I have observed for some time so I am generalising, as well as what I experienced on a few occasions in todays entry, are the correct placement of the Papillons ears which can sometimes be confusing or misleading. The key words are ‘when erect/alert’. This is a 45 degree angle ‘when alert’, what I call ten to two or alternatively ten past ten when visualising a clock face. This leaves good breadth between the base of the dogs ears leading to the correct and stipulated Papillon butterfly wings. With an abundance of fringing to the ears this can sometimes create an illusion that a pair of incorrect ‘high set’ ears are at the correct 45 degree angle, yet this is in a ‘relaxed’ state which is incorrect to the standard and when ‘alert’ these ears are evidently set far too high and are at a more likely angle of 20-30 degrees with a minimal span between the base of the ears. This is where you should clearly be able to see the slight rounding of the skull and this incorrect ear set ruins the overall balance of the head and isn’t what we are looking for in the breed standard. When relaxed the ears should logically rest closer to an angle of 60-80 degrees and when alert they should extend up to 45 degrees maximum.

Temperaments and mouths were good on the whole, with a couple of exceptions but nothing too major and the majority of the coat presentation was excellent with clean and well presented exhibits. I was absolutely delighted with my principal winners and of course overjoyed to see my BOB winner go on to win Toy group 1 and represent our breed perfectly with style, class, elegance and oozing the correct breed type. Thank you to all exhibitors for taking your placements with grace and my gratitude must go to my stewards on the day, Celia and Margaret who kept our ring in order and in good time.
Congratulations to the Crufts committee, organisers, volunteers, Bannerdown team and all round great human beings collectively for putting on what was once again a phenomenal show for all exhibitors, judges and spectators.

Veteran Dog (5)

1st. Iotastar's Brave New World (Mrs J D & Mr C J Mowatt) This pretty Tri colour male is 7 years of age and entered the ring at one with his able handler. He has a beautiful head and pretty expression encapsulating the essence of our butterfly breed. Lovely ear shape and set, good 1/3 to 2/3 muzzle to skull ratio and rise in skull from a defined stop. Good in outline and to go over. Shoulders well laid, topline level, good string of rib and well angulated rear. Moved true and showed well for his handler to win the class.

2nd. Baillion Black Obsidian for Zizula (Mrs L Slater) 8 Years old and in good condition. B/W male who from the moment he entered the ring he enjoyed his time to shine with his handler. A lovely dog with pleasing head and expression. Good ear shape and they are set on well. He has a lovely outline and overall conformation upon inspection whilst on the table. Moved true in all directions and showed a dream.

3rd. Jorgealin Midnight Magic for Kingshaven (M Keown) 8 year old tri and again in great condition for age. Pleasing head and ear shape. Good outline and moved freely and well.

Minor Puppy Dog (3)

1st. Wilachans Bollie (Messrs C & W Cooper) This 8 month old black masked R/S/W caught my eye upon entering the ring. He has a beautiful head of the correct proportions and pleasing overall expression. Lovely dark eye, good muzzle to skull ratio, defined stop and rise in skull. Correct splay between the ears leaving a 45 degree angle ear placement with ear fringing coming in these early months. Good to go over on the table, well laid should and straight front, good spring of rib for age and length of loin, level topline, pleasing rear angulation and set down on hocks. His movement was free and flowing and put on an excellent performance for one so young. Pleased to award him BPIB.

2nd. Blackpark Smart As You Like (Mr G Urquhart) Pleasing Tri colour and 7 months of age. Good proportions overall and held his shape both on the stand and in his side gait movement. Good head proportions and ears are well bedded with both shape and size which when he used them they finished his overall headpiece nicely. Dark expressive eye and good dentition. Pleasant to go over on the table and I am sure he will develop with age in body and frame. Moved well in rear and side gait, I would just like him tidier in front which will hopefully come with maturity.

3rd.  Baillion Be Unique (Mrs J Matthews) Pleasing male of 8 months old. B/W dark expressive eye, not quite the head of 1st and 2nd. He has level topline both on the stand and on the move and he showed well for a baby.

Puppy Dog (4)

1st. Bresar’s Almeno Tu Nell ‘ Universo in Zizula (Imp Ita) (Mrs L Slater) R/S/W who scored in large flaring ears, fringing and ear set. He is up to size so I hope he doesn’t grow any more at 11 months of age, but equally he has fine boned and not heavy in structure. Pleasing head and expression. Good conformation to go over on the table, level topline, good front, rear and overall balance. He moved well and free.

2nd  Tarnock All Eyes On Me (Ms D Olof) B/W 11 months old and a nice boy. Lovely ears, fringing coming and good placement. Darkest of expressive eyes and a pleasing head. He is good to go over in conformation. Stronger in rear movement than front but he has time to settle into himself with maturity and he is a promising puppy.

3rd. Paplene You Have Faith (Miss K Mcgrath) B/W Phalene who is of 10 months of age. Larger male overall. He thoroughly enjoyed his day out today with his handler and was not phased by the enormity of show and environment.

Junior Dog (10)

1st. Man of Fortune Lalabay (ATC BA54216POL) (Mrs E & Miss W Trzybinska) What a cracker! This 15 month old Tri colour caught my eye upon entering the ring, for both breed type and style. His showmanship is there for all to see and he really impressed me. Beautiful head and expression, dark eye, good muzzle to skull ratio with defined stop and rise into the skull. He has the most enchanting outline and his excellent conformation is there for all to see both on the stand and when floating around the ring like a true butterfly. His outline in profile movement is eye catching and he is so true in both front and rear movement as well as having good reach and drive. He pulled out all the stops in the challenge to be awarded the RCC.

2nd. Papplewick Pursuing Dreams for Elmaraine (Mr M G & Mrs E Davidson) This pretty little R/S/W butterfly was unfortunate to meet todays winner. He scores in type and head with the most exquisite of expressions and excellent proportions. He is 16 months of age and coming into good silky coat. He really is a lovely dog and as much as he is on the smaller scale (which I very much welcome), he is all there! Good to go over in conformation and his overall shape pleased me. He moves well especially in the rear and showed beautifully for his handler today.

3rd. Sui/it/ro Ch Elram's Adonis at Vissidarte (ATC BA84214CHE) (Miss G.l. Feldmann) This 15 months R/S/W caught my eye upon entering the ring for type and overall balance. Beautiful head, ear shape and size with abundance of fringing. He unfortunately seemed very overwhelmed today and didn’t perform at his best but on another day he really could have changed positions.

Yearling Dog (14)

1st.  It/ro Ch Elram's Xerxes at Vissidarte Sui Jww23 Swiss/ro/slo/bh Jch (ATC BA38281CHE) (Miss G.l. Feldmann) This male caught my eye upon entering the ring straight away. He has that something that draws you to him initially and then pleases you when examining him. B/W of beautiful type and quality. He is in excellent coat and body condition and really showed a dream for his handler. Lovely head shape, proportions and expression. Dark eyes and good ear shape and size with excellent fringing. Conformation is very good to go over and his overall balance is excellent. Well laid shoulders, into good forehand, well ribbed, level topline, good length of loin into well set tail and well angulated rear that set square to the ground. He moved well and true both front and rear. Showed his style and conformation on the side gait movement. All of this lead me to seriously consider him in my final four in the challenge and I could have easily written a green card for him.

2nd. Northlyte Buffalo Bill (Mrs E & Miss K Anderson) 16 month old Tri Colour coming into good coat. Lovely male who showed beautifully for his handler. Good head proportions, muzzle to skull ratio, stop and rise in skull. Lovely ear shape, size and carriage. Pleasing dark eye and expression. Good in conformation and moved well around the ring.

3rd. Weiefors Quick Star Int/dk Jch (Miss E Weiefors) Tri Colour and 20 months of age. In beautiful coat condition although I would like more abundance to his fringing to the tips of ears and leathers. Pretty in head and expression, with good proportions. Pleasing to go over in conformation and carried his level topline well on the move as well as on the stand. Very attentive to his handler and showed well.

Post Graduate Dog (12)

1st. Forepaws Dutch Courage RAF (Mrs L & Mr S & Mrs L & Mrs S Stewart-Smith & Church & Church & Cooper) This lovely Tri colour who is 2 years old scores in head proportions, expression, type and overall balance. Good muzzle to skull proportions with one third muzzle length to two thirds skull length, the key being the defined stop and good rise in skull. Dark expressive eye to finish his pleasant and cheeky expression. Lovely overall balance and shape for conformation. Moved and showed well just needs to settle and not be too vocal when accompanying his competitors around the ring.

2nd. Magic Sunrise Imperator Son (Imp Lva) (Mrs R Quinn) R/S/W of 4 years of age and has the prettiest of heads. Good for breed type and dark deep expressive eyes. Pleasing to go over with a good lay of shoulder, front, topline and rear angulation. Moved well but not as true as the winner of 1st place today.

3rd.  Pamhurst One and Only (Miss P Taylor) This 2 year old R/S/W showed beautifully for his handler. He is in good coat and condition. He has a pleasing head and overall balance in body. Moved well coming and going and also in side profile.

Mid Limit Dog (6)

1st. Forepaws Dutch Courage RAF (Mrs L & Mr S & Mrs L & Mrs S Stewart-Smith & Church & Church & Cooper) Post Graduate winner.

2nd. Feyetas Mighty Atom (Mrs S Turner) R/S/W of 3 years of age. He scored in head and correct proportions. His expression is pleasing, with good ear shape and size. Pleasant to go over on the table and this carried through to his movement where he moved well for his handler and pulled out the stops in this class today.

3rd. Kezkez Signore Nico Rosberg (Ms J E & Ms J Kerrison & Williams) B/W with the prettiest of heads and expression. He was so much better in this class and more settled than his first class experience and pulled himself together showing his conformation and movement. With the darkest of eyes, beautiful expression and well set ears housing lush fringing, he deserved to be placed in this class for pulling out the stops and carrying his well set tail nicely over his back.

Limit Dog (15)

1st. Elendil Crusader (Mrs A C & Ms E G N Borg) This B/W male of 4 year of age catches your eye upon entering the ring for both style and shape. He is a well balanced dog with style. He has a lovely head, slightly bolder in muzzle than I would like but non the less his overall proportions are good. He has dark expressive eyes to match his dark black colouring in his coat. Good to go over in conformation with well laid shoulders, good forehand, straight font legs, good spring of rib, length of loin and rear angulation which gave him his drive on the move. He moved with style and elegance around the ring and was true in both front and rear. I considered him for my final cut in the challenge but today he lacked the sparkle of the contenders in the challenge, but non the less he is an eye catching dog.

2nd. Yeldaeh’s Mr Chizlewick (Mr T R & Mrs C Headley) This R/S/W at 20 months of age scores in head and breed type, with correct proportion in muzzle to skull ratio, defined stop and good rise in skull. He is pleasant to go over on the table and holds his conformation well which was evident on the move where he was true in front and rear and has pleasing carriage on the side gait. Just at the last look he lacked the showmanship of his opponent who took first place.

3rd. Skyvana Catch Me at Jhanakia JW (Mrs S & Mrs J Austin & Thompson) B/W at 2 Years of age. Pleasing head and eye with good ear placement, carriage, shape and fringing coming in nicely. Good overall balance when assessed and held his level topline on the move, where he was free flowing.

Open Dog (12)

A real quality class and the best class of the day! I could have signed a green card for each of the five dogs placed in this class, so congratulations to the owners and breeders for the quality within their exhibits.

1st. Is Ch Fashion First High Priority (ATC BA54201ISL) (Mrs A M Gudbergsdottir) WOW.. he made sure he was a high priority today!! All I wrote was “Absolutely exquisite!!!” in his class write up. This exceptional 3 year old male caught my eye upon entering the ring and gave me (excuse the pun) butterflies as soon as I watched him move around the green carpet. I just hoped he impressed me upon examination to match my first impressions, I was not disappointed! The most beautiful of expressions with dark eyes that melt your heart upon approaching him on the table with head proportions that are correct to the breed standard and twinkle in his eye saying ‘I’m special’. His large flaring ears were set at the correct 45 degree angle when alert, with breadth between the ears over his slightly rounded skull. His pretty head was beautifully framed by curtain fringing of the correct length which were not disproportionate or overbearing for his overall balance. Correct length of neck, leading to well laid shoulders, good forehand and straight front legs into the correct hare feet with tufts of hair reaching far behind his middle toes. His rib is well sprung and of good depth, perfect length of loin, the most level of top lines and his rear is well muscled and set down parallel from the top of his hocks to feet. His flowing tail was set correctly carrying a long plume over his back and draped over either side, flowing down his body coat like a waterfall. His Tri colouring is rich and the condition of his coat was gleaming with correct length and silky texture, not too much and not too little, showing off his balance and conformation perfectly. He is so true in movement and floats around the ring as a Papillon should, with no over exaggeration yet drive, purpose and style. He moved a dream, parallel in both front and rear and his side gait is where he comes to life with good reach in front and drive from behind. I loved everything about him and he went on to wow the Toy Group judge and toy specialist Dr Andreas Schemel, where he topped the toys by winning Toy Group 1. Putting on a sterling performance in the big ring and I have to say both handler and dog did an outstanding job in the main ring in the final seven for BIS alongside some truly exceptional dogs, especially with the disruptions that happened whilst he was on the table. A true testament to his good character and temperament. DCC/BOB/Toy Group 1

2nd. Am Ch Nanken Tuff Enuff at Serna-Stedt (Ms J & Mrs N Peterson & Ridgeway) A dog that was unfortunate to meet the winner today in this class. This R/S/W quality Phalene at 2 years old is beautiful. Correct type, good ear set, shape and carriage when alert or relaxed. He has a beautiful head and expression with dark eyes against his red backdrop in coat. His correct muzzle to skull head proportions were a pleasure to assess and he flows from head to tail with a correct silky coat of good length. Truly pleasing to go over and also watch on the move, where he is true in front and rear and moves around the ring with a gentle but fluent gait. I was pleased to award him so high in this quality class and consider him in the challenge for the RCC, where he had to surrender to the junior dog for his sheer style and drive on the final move round. He is another that I could easily have signed a green card for.

3rd. Swiss Ch Nightfire's Famous for Winning Jch Ejw (Mrs Yvonn Weber) A smart 22 month old R/S/W who catches the eye for his showmanship and partnership with his handler. He has a pleasing head and expression, although I would personally like a more defined stop and rise to the skull with a little less muzzle length bringing him to the correct muzzle to skull ratio, but all that said he is a very smart dog. Good to go over in conformation and he showed that on the ground where he moved out with reach and drive, leading his way into this high ranking class position, within this quality line up.

Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Dog (15)

1st. Dual Ch Sky Butterfly Elven Cron Prince Spinillons ShCEx Sk Winner23 (Imp Rus) (Mrs J Davidson-Poston) This handsome Tri colour at 2 years of age has so much to like. Lovely breed type and beautifully presented. Good head shape and muzzle to skull ratios. The fringing to his ears is beautiful which frame his head and expression to his advantage, I would just like his ears sloughy larger to finish the picture, nevertheless he is a smart dog and shows beautifully. Good to go over as a whole in conformation and moved soundly.

2nd. Ch Pappretty Grt Expectations (C D Anderson) R/S/W and 3 years of age. He is in immaculate condition and lost out in the quality line up in the open class merely because it was full of quality dogs but here he had his time to shine. Lovely head and expression. Good ears and fringing. Showed well and moved well just didn’t quite have the sparkle of the first place winner on both the stand and move around the green carpet today.

3rd. Jorgealin Midnight Magic for Kingshaven (M Keown) Tri Colour who showed beautiful for his handler and enjoyed his time in the big rig today. He has a pleasing head and expression with good ears and moved and showed well.

Veteran Bitch (9)

1st. Int/multi Ch Elram's Penelope Flower Girl Sui Ejw14 Ww19 Aw19 Amw19 (Miss G.l. Feldmann) The condition of this 11 year old Tri colour girl was really white exceptional. So much so that I pulled her into my cut to the final four in the bitch challenge. She is in impeccable condition in coat, body and muscle. Really pleasing head and proportions. Good to go over in conformation and that was evident when she moved around the ring showing the youngsters what she had to offer. She is a credit to her owners and I was delighted to award her BVIB.

2nd. Ch Jorgealin Moonstar at Purepixie (Ms H V Walsh) Another quality R/S/W girl at 8 years of age. Pleasing head and expression. Darkest of eyes and a lovely ear set to finished of the picture. Good shape and conformation and she moved fluently around the ring. A credit to her owner.

3rd. Tarnock Devore (Ms D Olof) 8 year old B/W girl who was unfortunate to meet the winners of todays class, as she too was in good order for her age. She is sound in conformation and movement and has pleasing head proportions. She really enjoyed her time on the green carpet with there handler.

Minor Puppy Bitch (2)

1st. Panspayon Princess Royale Abbeyton (Mrs J P Savage) This pretty 8 month R/S/W coped well today considering it is such a big show for one so young, as are my thoughts for all minor puppies at this show. She has a lovely head and expression of good proportions and the darkest of eyes drawing you into her sweet expressive ways. She is good to go over in conformation on the table and I am certain with more confidence and time she will carry that through to her performance on the ground. She moved well and is a promising puppy.

2nd. Brandonburg Darkest Bloom at Taliesyn (Mrs G A Geary) This 7 month old R/S/W had a lovely day with her handler and really enjoyed her experience on the green carpet for one so young,

Puppy Bitch (6)

1st.  Panspayon Pennyroyale (Miss S Orchard) This B/W 11 month old girl is a pleasing bitch and very sound. If I am totally honest I would like a little less of her overall but that being said she has a pleasing head coming in, with lovely dark eye and expression. Large flaring ears and good fringing for age. She is the darkest of colours and she was sound in conformation and in movement, which she executed with confidence and this lead her to BPB on todays performance.

2nd. Tarnock Pop The Bubbles (Ms D Olof) B/W 11 month old girl who has good head proportions and is good to go over in conformation on the table. Today she didn’t quite have the confidence of the winner and wasn’t as settled in movement, but on another day these girls could change places.

3rd. Angullyon's Hermione (Mrs J A Walklett) Tri colour and 10 months old. She has a pretty head of good proportions and a pleasing expression. She moved and showed well for her handler leading her into this class placing.

Junior Bitch (13)

1st. Amicae Colour Coded (Mrs M Whitehill) This 15 month old Tri colour has a lot to like about her. She has a pleasing head and expression, although I would like a little more breath to the muzzle to balance her overall head proportions. Well shaped and set ears with fringing coming in nicely. She is good to go over in conformation on the table, pleasing lay of shoulder and level topline. She moved well and free from restriction today with her handler.

2nd. Afterglow Barbette with Starmarla (Mrs A Pinder) A promising 13 months old Tri colour who has a pleasing head and expression with lovely dark eye. She is good in outline and scores in that when she stands properly once settled. She moved well and true and with maturity I am sure will grow into a more bodied lady.

3rd. Ookiimimi Serenity (Mrs J Nash) R/S/W that is 16 months of age. She has the prettiest of heads and correct muzzle to skull ratio proportions. Beautiful expression, eye colour and shape. She is good to go over in conformation and moved well, today she just lost out to first and second for their showmanship and balance on the stand in the final line up.

Yearling Bitch (12)

1st Yeldaeh’s Mrs Pepperpot (Mr T R & Mrs C Headley) This typey 20 month old R/S/W has so much to like about her. She scores in the correct head proportions with muzzle to skull ration, well defined stop and good rise to the skull. Well set and placed ears with good breadth over the skull creating the stated 45 degree angle when alert. She is sound to go over in conformation, carries her tailset nicely over her back and moved true in front and rear. She showed well for her handler today.

2nd. Dance by Candlelight with Picolina (Ms A Hale) B/W 20 months old Phalene. Who has lovely balance throughout. She has well set ears placed correctly into the skull. She is good to go over in conformation and moved well for her handler.

3rd. Abbeyton Here I Am (Mrs J P Savage) Another Phalene and 21 months of age. She is dainty as the breed standard calls for and has a pleasing head with pretty expression. Pleasing to go over on the table and moved well for her handler who was sympathetic to her character and got the every best out of her.

Post Graduate Bitch (11)

1st Lilacrose Touch of Talent (Mrs K Diprose) This Tri colour 3 year old had a lovely day out today showing her heart out for handler from the moment she entered the ring. She has a lovely head with correct muzzle to skull ratio and proportions. Pleasing expression and dark eye. She has good balance and overall proportions whilst being assessed on the table, level topline, good rear angulation and set down on hocks. She moved true and holds her topline on the profile side gait whilst floating around the ring.

2nd. Laura Margenis at Summerjade NAF (Miss M J Holmes) R/S/W and 2 years of age. She has the prettiest of heads and good proportions. Her expression is very good and she is also good to go over in conformation. Moved well, but today not as true as the winner.

3rd. Pamhurst Pretty Petal (Miss P Taylor) Tri colour and 2 years old. She has a good head and expression. Nice ears shape, placement and fringing. In good coat and condition and she is pleasing to go over on the table. She moved freely with her handler moving at the correct pace for her.

1st. Pappretty Georgy Girl (C D Anderson) This 2 year old B/W has a beautiful head and expression, with dark eye and good proportions for muzzle to skull ratio, well defined stop and rise to the skull. She is good to go over in confirmation, level topline and held that on the move where she moved true in front and rear and floated around the ring in side profile gait.

She scored in head, expression and the correct proportions of muzzle to skull ratio, well defined stop and rise with dark expressive eyes. 3 years old and in good coat which was in good order. Beautiful ears and fringing. She showed and moved well for her handler today.

3rd. Silla Malibu (Miss Jana Feranova) B/W at 12 months of age with good fringing coming to complement her overall picture. She showed well for her handler in this class and enjoyed her time on the green carpet.

Limit Bitch (11)

1st. Aurora vom Schwabenhof for Temelora (Imp Deu) (Mrs S Morrell) This 2 year old Tri coloured Phalene caught my eye upon entering the ring and didn’t disappoint on the table whilst being assessed. She has a lovely head and expression, with dark eyes framed by the correct ear set and shape with fringing coming. She is well made in conformation. Good lay of shoulder, forehand, level topline, length of loin and rear. She holds her outline on the stand and on the move. That topline is so level as she flows around the ring like a true moth and is true in both front and rear. She scored today in outline for profile movement with her reach and drive action. She gave her kennel mate a run for her money in the challenge for the RCC.

2nd.  Panspayon Natasha JW (Miss S Orchard) Close up to the winner in this class. This 2 year old Tri colour is very pretty, with the correct head proportions with muzzle to skull ratio, well defined stop and rise to the skull. Lovely dark eye and expression. She has well set and shaped ears with an abundance of fringing set at the correct 45 degree angle when alert. She is good to go over in conformation on the table, well laid shoulders, pleasing front, level topline and good rear placement. She moved true and well but lost out in profile movement to the winner for reach and drive where today she seemed more restricted in front. She is eye catching and showed well for her handler.

3. Manawyddan to A Wild Rose (Dr M L & Dr E A Griffiths) What a pretty 2 year old R/S/W. She has the prettiest of heads and correct proportions in muzzle to skull ratio with well defined stop, rise in skull and correct muzzle structure. Well placed ears with good fringing. Good to go over in conformation, With a well set tail and moved true and free from any restriction. She just at times needs to retain that ‘spark’ in the final line up.

Open Bitch (9)

1st. Athene vom Schwabenhof for Temelora (Imp Deu) (Mrs S Morrell) This 2 year old Phalene got better as the class went on and having the chance to asses her. She didn’t catch my eye immediately as she is very subtle in the line up but upon examination she scores in overall conformation and sound movement. She has a lovely head and expression with well set ears to the skull and uses them to her advantage when alert. She is good on conformation overall. Good lay of shoulder, forehand, length of neck, level topline, length of loin and rear. She holds her outline on the stand and on the move and has a free flowing action in profile with a flowing silky coat. In the challenge she really had to pull out all the stops in my final four but had to surrender to the winner based on showmanship and the end picture in overall outline. A lovely bitch who I am sure will go on to title. Pleased to award her the RCC.
2nd. Johnasta Georgia for Temelora (Mrs S Morrell) This 4 Year old Tri colour girl has so much to like. She scores in head and expression with good proportions and ratios. Well set ears with good fringing. She is pleasing to go over in conformation and lost out to her kennel mate today on overall balance and topline on the move but nevertheless she is a lovely bitch who showed well for her handler.

3rd. Blicci's Three Steps to Heaven Eujw22 Dk Jch Klb Jch (Mr Mj French) Another Phalene at 2 years old. R/S/W. She has a beautiful head and expression with good proportions and muzzle to skull ratio. She is pleasing to go over in confirmation and scored in outline on the stand and on the move. Today she just lacked the showmanship of the first and second winners in this class.

Good Citizens Dog Scheme - Bitch (4)

1st. Elena Kolekcja Szuwarka Spinillons JW (IKC) (Mrs J Davidson-Poston) This 14 month old junior girl scores in outline on the stand and on the move. She stands four square and holds her neckline into her topline so well, with those statement ears finishing off the picture. Admittedly I would have liked to have seen her in the junior class, but she showed her herself off well here and then stepped it up a gear in the challenge. She has a pretty head of good proportions with the correct muzzle to skull ratio, well defined stop and rise to the skull. She flows from head to tail. Well laid shoulders, good forehand, straight front legs, good length of neck, level topline, well set tail and good rear angulation and set down on hocks. She showed this conformation on the move and had good reach and drive in profile as well as an elegant neck carriage. Today in the final cut in the challenge she showed her heart out and I could not deny her the BCC in todays entry, even though she is in the ‘junior stage’ of her coat progression and maturity.

2nd. Pappretty Georgy Girl (C D Anderson) She was 1st in Mid Limit

3rd. Pamhurst Definitely Maybe with Netsrik (Miss K Taylor) Tri colour and 4 Years of age. She has a pleasing head and expression and today she showed well for her handler showing off her attributes for all to see on the green carpet.
