Richmond Dog Show Society

Breed: Hound group
Hound group Judge: Mr Gavin Robertson For sure a challenging day for Richmond show and all its committee and helpers with the rain and wind for the first day of the show and for the new secretary Darren Clarke whom I thought handled everything so calmly with all things considered. I had a fairly full group to sort out and my cut was the Borzoi, Basset Fauve,Saluki and Rhodesian Ridgeback along with my final 4 placed hounds, BEST : 508 AKERBOOM, Mr. Jan Willem & V.D. SCHAAF-AKERBOOM, M - UK NL Ch Ch Creme Anglaise's Irish Cream - WHIPPET - Bitch I had the pleasure of judging this bitch in 2022, awarding her group 2 at Crufts in a highly competitive group that day. I actually think she is better now than she was then with her lovely clean unexaggerated curvy feminine outline, she places her feet so well and stands over just the right amount of ground the breed calls for. In lovely condition and has that elegant look to her. RESERVE : 14 HALL, Mrs Roberta - Ch Saxonmill Majic Mirror - AFGHAN HOUND - Bitch A quality bitch who is full of breed type with her correct proportions, has length to her skull with slightly slanted triangular eyes, strong neck, short coupled and has right amount of leg length. A detailed topline to her with correct tailset and carriage, she had a lovely smooth spongy gait to her and has that real dignified look to her. In super muscle and coat condition. 3rd : 137 BÄCK, Mrs Madeleine Anna Charlotte - Aviatrix's American Style - BEAGLE - Bitch I has earlier in the day awarded this super beagle cc and BOB, so much to admire about her, a feminine head piece with dark eyes, defined stop and well set ears, she has a compact body with a near perfect clean neck and backline with a high set tail. She is just the type I like and has super footfall where she has good reach and drive, she pushed the whippet and Afghan hard for the top spot. 4th : 200 ROBERTS, Mr D - Ch Swansford Prestonador - DACHSHUND (LONG-HAIRED) - Dog Another quality dog from this long established kennel which has the ability to produce one after the other of balanced typey Std longs, he has strength and substance but not overdone and is compact in his body, good forechest, has some leg length, really holds his topline on the move with a strong rear that he uses which so many don’t. I felt these were the 4 stand away dogs in this group.
